Open Camp ✨BACK AND FORTH / Patrols (06/06)✨

This thread takes place inside the clan's camp.

AND I AM SORRY MY CONSCIENCE CALLED IN SICK AGAIN

The ground was damp underpaw as Wolfpack stepped from the warriors den, dew clinging to the fur of his large, grey and white paws and a thin mist clinging to the edges of the clearing. Blue and gold eyes scanned the space out of habit, catching on the slow stir of movement from the other dens as the place began to come alive– early rising elders, eager to learn apprentices, and caregivers with last minute requests for the patrols going out.

He padded to the center of camp and gave his coat a rough shake, watching as his clanmates emerged from their dens in two's and three's. Some were lazily making their way toward the prey pile while others settled down to groom themselves, and Wolfpack waited just long enough for them to have their bearings before speaking- not loudly, but enough to carry.

"Patrol assignments. Coalstrike, take a hunting patrol out this morning toward the old camp. Focus on furred prey so we can use the pelts in the nursery." his gaze shifted to find the tom before nodding.

"Halfshade," he continued, atention moving next to the she-cat. "your leading the sunhigh patrol along the Thunderclan boarder. Keep the markers fresh, and if you see that white Thunderclan shecat nosing around again, send her back with something to remember you by. She's already gotten a free pass once while helping herself to our resources, best not to let it become a habit."

Sablestar and Stoatpaw had given that cat far more than they deserved. Wolfpack letting her go unscathed should have been enough of a kindness to a trespasser from an enemy clan. Having Stoatpaw cross the thunderpath to give up those mushrooms to her was a bit too far for his liking, but what could he do when their leader was so blinded by his need for friendship with them? When they couldn't understand the necessity of existing separately from the cats he'd chosen to attack and leave behind?

" Jadethorns running battle training today. Up to her what that looks like- stealth drills, camouflage, physical conditioning– whatever keeps you sharp."

He wasn't sure what the shecats style was, but from what he'd seen of her in action, he was willing to bet her tactics and training methods were ones he'd approve of. Chances are he'd be attending if he had time, if not to participate, then to see how the group was doing under her instruction.

"Fleapaw," he called, "That storm we had the other night filled a shallow basin near the large pond. I'm pretty sure I saw some smaller fish swimming in it when I past by last night. When you're all excused from your apprentice duties, take the other apprentice out and practice your fishing skills."

Fishing wasn't typically a Shadowclanners main source of hunting, but given the amount of water and aquatic prey items they had, he didn't see the harm in letting the youth try their paw at it. Besides. That basin was little more than an oversized puddle, maybe knee-deep at best on someone Fleapaws age, and the deputy had already stomped through it to make sure there were no sinkholes in it.

Perfectly safe for some kids to splash around in muddy water after fish and frogs.

Finally, the final task. "Lastly, I'll be taking the evening patrol out toward the border with Windclan. We'll freshen up the markers and doing some hunting near the monster tree." That way he could check out that rust bucket in the tree to see what use it might be for them now that the weather was good. Not to mention he could do a proper vibe check on Windclan.

OOC-- Welcome to another round of patrols! Task leaders have been chosen, but these are all taking place at different times throughout the day, so feel free to jump into multiple threads with your characters if you want to!

@Coalstrike - host a morning hunting thread out in the fourtrees board! It can be open or closed, you can use a generated prompt or keep it super casual- you can use dice to determine what your patrol catches! Whatever you want!

@Halfshade -- you've got the afternoon border patrol along the thunderclan border! Go get those akward/tense/or friendly interactions in, and mentors, don't forget you're apprentices!! :)

@Jadethorn -- you're on battle training! Mainly tailored to the warriors to keep them sharp and to expand their skillset, apprentices may join in as well if they think they can keep up! this open thread can cover any kind of training you like!

@Scarlet -- (I CAN'T TAG FLEAPAW???) -Ahem- Anywhooo. Fleapaw is leading the apprentices out for some fun practice hunting the little fish that have gotten trapped in what's essentially a giant puddle next to the main pond. It's not very deep and is totally safe-- the perfect place for some kids to chase some fish and enjoy themselves!

aaaand @WOLFPACK is heading the evening patrol along the Windclan border to freshen up scent markers and check out the monster tree!

Fleapaw was already up and about by the time Wolfpack stepped into the clearing. Not that she was doing much yet since everyone expected patrols to be divvied up today. Sprawled across a patch of half-dry grass, she dragged her tongue across her muzzle that she'd bloodied from breakfast, all while side-eyeing the slowly gathering crowd. Her ears twitched as camp stirred, cats stretching and getting their bearings.

Her eyes narrowed when Wolfpack started calling out patrols. She sat up, scooting closer with a low huff to make sure she didn't miss anything. Most of it sounded boring—standard hunting patrols, border marking—though she perked slightly at the mention of Coalstrike.

But battle training with Jadethorn?

Fleapaw's head swiveled toward her mentor like a dog sniffing out a treat. Stealth drills? Camouflage? Oh, hell yeah! That was her kind of work. What better way to show off everything Jadethorn and Froststorm had been drilling into her head? This was her chance to prove that she could hold her own, that she wasn't just Possumgrin's old leftovers.

"Fleapaw—"

She blinked, ears angling toward the deputy. A beat passed before the words hit properly, and then she was on her paws. Small as it was, this wasn't just some throwaway errand. Wolfpack was trusting her with something… He was putting her in charge. Besides, a little outing with her friends sounded like a good time. So what if it involved fishing in some glorified puddle? That didn't even matter!

She bounced lightly from paw to paw before reining in her energy, putting on a serious face before she answered. "Got it, consider it done." The apprentice stood a bit taller, tail flicking eagerly over her back. While the rest of the patrols were called out, she cast a glance around for Stoatpaw and her siblings.

Feel free to decline whoever posts second! Also free for all. Spectate, join in the fun, whatever!

Fleapaw values family the most with survival at a close second. In conversations, she is blunt, fun-loving, and clever. She is guided by her desires which often leads her astray. Despite her abrasive personality, she cares deeply for those she loves and will do anything to protect them. Due to her experiences, Fleapaw is corrupt and has minimalistic, if any, morals. She does not care for the warrior code and its restraints. Neither does she believe in StarClan. Growing up in a kitten mill, being separated from her mother, and ending up on the streets have deeply affected her view of the world.
