Barbie's been with the Rustclaws for a few moon cycles now. While far from apt to their skills, she had shaped up fast with the help of some of the older members. Luckily, the weather often gave her a leg up, too. She's in the least adept in hunting, well enough to hold her own with the incoming leaf bare. She can only hope the first time the snow falls, she'll still be able to sniff out the mice that hide amongst the junk of their home. Today, however, it's another simple venture.

She clambers up tall stacks of shiny silvers and sharp glasses, chasing the tantalizing scent of something new. Someone's pet bunny escaped their enclosure and got lost, she thinks, for this thing looks too soft and pampered to reasonably live amongst the muck and grossness of the junkyard. And yet, as Barbie leaps to finally take the relative-sized prey down, the ground beneath her shifts, and -

"Augh - fuck!" an incredibly loud, clattering, punctuating sound echoes after her words.

When other cats find her, Barbie has already hauled herself from the wreckage. She looks mostly fine, although her long, plumed tail finds itself pinned beneath a rusted piece of metal. "Dang it..." she pulls and pulls, but alone, she can't unstick herself.

RUSTED METAL ──

Rust is sitting near the edge of the scrap-filled camp, perched upon a particularly high stack of junk as she grooms the knots out of her fur. She enjoys laying up here, staring down at the other cats that she's recently grown acquainted with - she's above them, both literally and metaphorically. Just the way she likes it.

Her ears flatten when she hears a loud crash nearby, catching a glimpse of the wreckage mid-fall through the corner of her good eye. Annoyed by the disruption, she turns and rises to her paws, leaping down from her makeshift throne to see what was going on. She resists the urge to scoff at Barbie's futile tugging of her tail from underneath the metal holding it down.
"Are ya just tryin' to tear your tail clean off?" she asks, though it's more so just to be condescending than out of any kind of curiosity. Still, Rust had promised her loyalty to this bunch, even if it was only to have a safe place to recover from her wounds. She trots up to the other cat to scoop up the metal holding Barbie down, shuffling underneath it and grunting with the effort of shoving it upward with her shoulder. This only raises it up by about an inch or so, but Rust figures that's enough. "Try now."

Barbie pulls and pulls, wincing with the pain of the metal scraping against her body, but with little to show for it. Her teeth grit together as she readies herself for one more pull when another of the locals finds her. Rust tuts towards her, tone condescending and borderline frustrated, and Barbie retorts with a sharp, "I'm just tryna get out!" As if as much wasn't clear enough. The girl furrows her brows together as Rust pulls the hefty sheet of metal onto her shoulders, pulling it up and off of Barbie's now injured tail. The slightly older girl is quicker to pull herself from the wreckage, but she stays close, also shouldering some of the weight so that it doesn't crumple on top of Rust.

Once the other pulls out of the way, the silver-shaded tortoiseshell does the same, leaving the heap to clatter against the ground noisily. She grimaces at the sound, and then the thrumming pain in her tail. She doesn't acknowledge it right away, simply addressing the other cadet with a quiet, but annoyed, "Thanks." After a beat, she looks over her shoulder, "Hey, did you see where that bunny went off to? I was try'na catch it..." As she looks over, she notices how scraped raw her tail is in addition to the horrible bend it makes. She frowns deeper, but still tries to not draw attention to it.
