OOC- I figured we could set this the day before the clan leaves? Maybe the two can do a bit of bonding so they aren't strangers during the journey? At this point Zukos probably has been here for 3-4 days and two of them were spent in the medicine cats den. Right now he's just sitting in camp toward the end of the day, resting after his first official day of training.
It was officially the end of his first day of training, and he finally felt a little more confident about calling himself a Skyclanner. He had a mentor, a nest in the apprentices den, and would soon be joining the group in journeying to new lands. It was as close to 'going his way' as things had been since the argument with his father.
For the first time in days, Zuko allowed himself to feel the weight of his situation. His father had kicked him out of the colony as a disgrace. His mother had disowned him and set her claws to his face, leaving a deep set of gashes over his right eye that had been lucky not to blind him. He hadn't even gotten to say goodbye to his littermates before she'd shoved him out the door and told him not to come back, claiming he was no son of hers if he couldn't even hold the respect of his father. That had hurt more than the bleeding wounds she'd inflicted, leaving him to stumble away half blind to try and figure out where to go from there and what to do.
Now, as he sat in Skyclans camp, he knew exactly what to do to regain his fathers respect and his mothers love. He just had to work hard and be patient– to be strong even though he was unsure. He would make this journey with Skyclan and he'd earn their trust and respect. He'd become the strong, fearless cat his fool of a father thought he would never be, and when he returned he'd make them regret
"You can do this." He took in a steadying breath, holding it for a moment before letting it out. It was a mantra he'd been repeating to himself over and over since he was sent away, only now it felt like it might really be possible. Yes, he would have to follow this clan of cats off into the unknown and hope for the best, but if he managed to survive then the possibilities were endless. He'd already been cleared by the healer and assigned to a mentor who was supposed to train him, so as long as he took things seriously then there was nothing stopping him from becoming a fierce, strong warrior.
And then, one day, leader. he thought to himself with a small smirk, ambitions rising high at the thought. There was no way his father would be able to deny his worth if he came back as leader of an entire clan, and then he'd finally be welcomed home, able to see the littermates he'd never even gotten to say goodbye to.
