Having some of the campground kittypets join them helped, especially with the surplus in kits. They would need to learn the ways of their clan, but in the meantime they could help around camp. Errand runners they were. It wasn't too bad though. It wasn't as if they were confined to camp. They were allowed to go on patrols, but only those that were for hunting or gathering herbs. Bit by bit they were learning about their new home and their clanmates. He was in the middle of talking with Bayhowl when a loud voice boomed from the entrance of camp. His fur bristled from the sudden shout, turning, green eyes landing on one of the campground kittypets.
The conversation of what they should teach Umber and Dark next would have to wait another day. A quick glance of the clan showed varied expressions. Some were absolutely furious, which was understandable. Even though they were aware of the Campground kittypets and tolerated them while they were here, it didn't mean they had to be happy about a stranger waltzing in their home. Especially with how the much older male appeared prideful. It wouldn't surprise him if one his clanmates padded up to Captain and smacked them. As for those who were once part of the campground, they appeared to be happy. That was expected.
They may be riverclanners now, but it's not like their old friends would be completely thrown aside.
Damage control. That's what he had to do. Even if their new joiners such as Poseidon would be displeased, he needed to consider the feelings of everyone else. Especially given the fact that the clan has added more cats within their ranks. Some were cats that were brought with little warning to the clan, where he had to make a rapid decision. It bothered him a little bit. How he was presented cats who were gleaming with the promise of being told they could join RiverClan without his permission. In any case, his expression serious as he approached Captain.
"Hello."
Silver paws come to a halt a tail length away from the brown tom.
"My name is Pikestar, leader of RiverClan."
How should I go about this? He doesn't look harmless, but the clan will say something if I just let him run free. "I understand that you wish to join, but we have rules here. A proper way of doing things. "
Not really. Maybe I should enforce a rule or something? With how many of you just brought cats to the clan. Heck, even cats who weren't part of our clan at first brought us some more mouths to feed. "One of them is by not entering camp. To walk in our home unannounced is rude. If one of the warriors decided to attack you, I wouldn't reprimand them. Right now they wouldn't because I am speaking to you. We are serious when it comes to our home."
His long black tipped tail flicks behind him.
"Seeing as you're already here, I will allow you to join our clan. Only if you accept punishment first. You have scared and angered a good bulk of riverclanners by waltzing into camp."
Whatever expression Captain is giving him is met with a smile.
The word punishment is sure to surprise his clanmates. After all, it was extremely rare for Pikestar to punish someone. What would he even decide was fitting for someone who still hadn't decided? And what would happen if Captain said no? Would he be attacked by some riverclanners? Or would he be granted mercy, chased off of their home and back to the Campgrounds? None would know until Captain made his choice.
