sap and dewy leaf-litter highlight the scents of thunderclan territory… foliage dappled by tall oaks and grassy clearings. a surprising cropping of rocks freckle the territory, noted by the emptied quarry that they've repurposed to be their home. the porous earth is hungry for scents, making thunderclan one of the more easily recognizable clan smells…
traversing the patchy undergrowth often leaves thunderclan warriors littered with tangles, twigs stuck in fur where they've stubbornly traversed through grabby brush. grooming becomes an important part of their end-of-day culture, taking the time to weed the trash from one another's fur and prevent matting.
the typical thunderclanner adorns pelts that mimic the territory around them; browns, cinnamons and fawns are most common colorings and it's thought that tabbies better blend into the sharp shadows of the canopies. because of this, cats with green eyes and dark pelts are considered conventionally attractive while silvers, blues, and whites are more rare.
to accommodate the sparse forests they hunt in, thunderclan prioritizes teachings of stalking along the bush lines and tree trunks, using the natural coverage around them to close the gap between prey and predator.
-
thunderclan typically hosts their meetings under the light of the sunhigh glow… when the clan is at its most wakeful, when they are most readily visible to the skies thanks to the bright light. ceremonies held at night are considered ominous, shrouded by only moonlight and exhaustion.
WARRIORS . . . are those who have completed their training and have been given their warrior name by their clan leader. they are in charge of completing regular border patrols, hunting patrols, protecting the clan from threats, and nurturing the apprentices in their teachings to ensure clan survival. though an unofficial rank, senior warriors are those who've spent many moons honing their craft as warriors and raising up the younger generations to foster success for the clan. they are respected and are most likely to be selected to become storm guards.
by default all cats are warriors and warriors are expected to fight and defend their clan, but a warrior can opt to instead take on a specialized role unique to ThunderClan:
FORAGERS . . . are felines of great resourcefulness... they're thrifty with what resources are available to them, reinforcing dens, shifting rocks to create tactical defenses, utilizing berries to alter scent trails and as a bonus, are particularly skilled nest-makers. this makes them something of a romantic catch for those eyeing a comfy bed to sleep in for the rest of their moons!
RANGERS . . . are cats who have proven skilled with the use of their paws. these cats are few amongst the forest who are expert survivalists. Their ability to track scents makes them fantastic ambushers and they're often sent out in groups to hunt larger prey as a group.
STORM GUARDS . . . are the chosen advisors of the current leader. these may be replaced under each new leader or may persist through multiple leaderships. they're often responsible for overseeing mass trainings, leading patrols, and offering counsel to the leader. -
camp (1)
an abandoned quarry with towering cracked cliff-faces on most sides, the tops of this ravine are lined in dense bushes and thorny greenery that creates a natural barrier to steer foolish wanders away from plummeting into the pit below. deep gouges in the sides of the walls make room for smaller dens and a fallen, cracked tree trunk makes for a natural enclosure for the leader to reside in. a few bushes that grow within the quarry's bounds have been strategically clipped and torn at the create room in the centers for nesting as larger dens but remain patchy as the clan develops new ideas for how to insulate their new home... luckily this sunken camp prevents them facing the full onslaught of the wind.
owl tree (2)
a tree that stands in solitary scrutiny... it's said that a family of owls has roosted here for generations, leaving it to be a site encouraging wariness and avoidance. with a towering stack of boulders near by, it's not hard to guess why it might be favorable when so many rodents use this area to hide. it is a particularly tall tree and seems to be the source of many good-natured dares and efforts to hone climbing skills... you'll just have to hope the rumors about its inhabitants don't prove true. luck isn't always meant to be tested.
snakerocks (3)
before the territory becomes split by harrowing, stinking tarmac, there is a notable cluster of rocks that crowd the edge of the forest. it's a great area for testing dexterity and can harbor smaller rodents as prey but we aren't the only ones aware of that... snakes grow comfortable here for their own hunting in the summer and seem the warmth and coverage of the stones when the air grows cold. be careful where you go poking your nose.
sandy hollow (4)
a dusty patch of earth in the heart of the territory... it's forgiving texture under-paw makes it a fantastic setting for training apprentices in combat and its level surface makes it easier to focus on movement and mastering techniques rather than competing with the terrain. it is plenty large enough for a sizeable group to be hosted here, making it a hub for developing strength building skills and tactics.
sunningrocks (5)
a beautiful set of flat-top stones that warm in the rays of the sun. these are an exceptionally favored spots by queens and elders looking to ease their soreness with a pleasant sunbathing. they lay close to the river and while they are not part of our defined, patrolled territory, their existence is known as a spot to relax and kick back.

generally noted for having warm summers and cold winters. summer seasons rarely exceed 90*F, totaling to less than 15 days out of the season. Conversely, winters are much colder, tending towards sub 20*F temperatures for the majority of these months. transitional seasons (spring and autumn) average closer to a crisp 50*F temperature, noted by consistent rains as this territory expected roughly 15 inches of rainfall each year. while these are not hard and fast rules for roleplay, it should summarize the general climate of our area!

SHADOWCLAN
defectors and defiers
relations with shadowclan prove complicated as many of their ranks remain friend or kin many of thunderclan's members. they are contriving, scheming and generally of questionable trustworthiness…. what prompted them down the path of treachery remains a source of frustration, as much of thunderclan believes it selfishly motivated rather than in genuine defense of the future. -
