Open Border WC Tiptoe the Minefield of my Skull ✪ Border Patrol

This thread takes place at the border of the clan territory.

✪ Align my Heart, my Body, my Mind

indentDustystar marches towards the Shadowclan border with a clenched jaw and stiffened lip. "Stay on guard." She mews to the warriors walking beside her. Shadowclan are still their allies, but the attack on Talonpaw have left the relationship between the two clans on unstable footing. Dustystar can't say every Shadowclan cat is as claw-happy as the one who crossed the border to attack their apprentice, but she can't say for sure that any cats they see will be glad to see them, either.

indent"Don't go in looking for a fight, though. We don't want to lose this ally. If they turn against us, we'll have enemies on every side."
After all, Shadowclan are their only true friends among the forest cats. There has been a truce, at least, with Riverclan, but they lie on the other side of Fourtrees, too distant to provide quick help. The relationship they have with their southern neighbors.

-> Goldenroar expects Dustystar to be able to smooth any tensions that may crop up here from the Talonpaw-Crowpaw scuffle.
Shadowclan cats feel free to join in!

Dustystar - 27 moons - Windclan Leader

Silentstep, 36 moons || Windclan || Tunneler
A fawn tabby with brown and white speckles.
She has a friendly demeanor, yet overshadowed with oddity.

A gentle bow of acknowledgment toward the words of caution to remain on guard was done. And as ordered, she kept her head held high alert, while forwarding along beside the leader and the moor runner.

Please... Please, I don't... speak of your name often, but stars, please don't let us become enemies...
It was an unprompted thought that soon began to spiral down a path that made Silentstep unease in each step being taken. This entire situation was... unfortunate.
All she hoped at the end of this meeting was to still hold onto their connection with Shadowclan. And wished this outcome will have neither side snap its strings and turn into furious beasts that hunger corruption, and war. Creating enemies amongst the clans was a thought she never understood, nor see a purpose. At the end of it, they were all just cats. Living in different ways of life. But still just the same.

When the leader, Dustystar, had requested to also stray away from fighting, a knot suddenly appeared within the she-cat's throat. Constricting suddenly like a snake coiling its prey.

Fighting...? She wouldn't think this will come to that... No. She Hoped it won't reach into a fight.

Once freeing her throat from swallowing down the sudden lump, a pause took a hold, and had left her mouth agape for a little while. Until gathering the words to flow out in a soft, quiet tone in her sentence.
" I just... hope we can settle this, without any conflict... A-and keep our connections... " Really was all Silentstep could say about this matter. Before, continue along and following Dustystars instructions to herself. Flickering focus around their surroundings as they arrived at Shadowclans border.

& I don't know what's got its TEETH in me
Dustystar was his...cousin or something. He wasn't entirely sure the exact relation, just she was cousins with his father. He thinks. Family lines are messy to keep up with, he only really views his immediate family as worthy of much thought, but lately he'd been thinking of things like what made blood lines so strong and could blood be connected through sheer will, through trials and pain. It was an interesting thought, that cats could be family without being family. The medicine cat apprentice has a mouth of cobweb when he spots the WindClanners, his eyes narrowing immediately; Crowpaw was still in his den battered and he wasn't interested in joining the other apprentice if they were here to cause more trouble.
"I don't see any herbs on you." The young black and white cat says with a plaintive tone, his bundle dropped so he could wrinkle his nose and curl his lips at the gathered moorland cats, "If you're here to apologize you should have brought a gift." They owed him more than that, they owed him the blood taken but it was his father's decision whether or not they paid that back. He only cared about his stores, about the duties of a medicine cat and friend who witnessed the aftermath of a cat undeserving being hurt.

Crowpaw had come back to camp with him and his prey looking like it had been torn through a monster just to get there. Of course Sablestar had heard briefly of it after he rose from his nest, with Crowpaw still in Cicadabuzz's den in recovery. The scent of herbs and poultices may be stuck to his pelt for weeks from what he had seen, the kind of scratches and bites the leader could only compare to battle. Crowpaw had truly fought to feed the Clan, a shame it had to be WindClan, a shame Belladonnadance couldn't keep her apprentice in check.

Sablestar arrived on a deep exhale behind Magpiepaw. This was to be expected, he only disliked the feeling of being chased for the conversation. "I was just about to meet with you." Sablestar meowed with sincerity. "But, my warriors have been poking in the plains quite a bit already. I didn't want to agitate anything more." Though his patrol had only just arrived for assistance not long before Crowpaw and the other apprentice's tussle, this could not go unignored. Herbs were lost, tensions were built, it was unsavory work. "However, if you're looking for some sort of discipline..." Sablestar gave a sideways glance towards Magpiepaw. "I believe the injuries and shame he was left with are consequence enough."

indentDustystar narrows her eyes at the apprentice, but doesn't justify their words with a response. Shadowclan's youth are clearly unruly, so it's no surprise to her that even Sablestar's own kitten has no sense for what apologies are due, and to whom.

indentInstead, she turns to face Sablestar himself. "Did the apprentice who attacked Talonpaw admit to it, then?" She mews, flicking an ear in annoyance. "At least they're honest." And bold. It's the most Dustystar can praise them.

indent"I understand that Shadowclan is facing difficulties, but Windclan has problems of our own. Much of our prey was washed away in the storms, and, of course-" Despite her better nature, Dustystar glances towards the apprentice at Sablestar's side. "Our herb stores have been nearly entirely destroyed. The herbs we spent treating Talonpaw were some of the last we had left." A biting reminder that Magpiepaw and their mentor are not the only ones losing herbs cleaning up after the scuffle.

indent"I don't ask for punishment or retribution, only a promise that this won't happen again. Our allyship is important, but so is the wellbeing of our apprentices."

Roostertuft trails along with the other two unable to shake the tension from his muscles knowing that Talonpaw had gotten into a scuffle with one of Shadowclan's apprentices and a part of him wants to curse Goldenroar for putting him on a patrol that would surely have some tension from both sides. Dustystar tells em to stay cautious and not to start any fights, Roostertuft has to stifle a snort at that comment knowing that he'd be out of his mind for trying to rile up the cats on the other side of their border and simply gives a slow tip of his crown. A bicolored apprentice is the first to show up at the border only to peel his lips back to reveal ivory fangs at his patrol, the medicine cat apprentice demands some of their herbs for the damage done and it takes everything for the moor runner to not wrinkle his own snout at the demand.

Thankfully (or perhaps, unfortunately depending who you asked) Sablestar rears his marred hide to the patrol and speaks to Dustystar, he states that the injuries that Talonpaw had earned was punishment enough and the former barn cat feels some sort of relief at that. The patchwork tom decides to hold his tongue thinking that it'd be better to allow both leaders to discuss between themselves though he spares a side glance to Silentstep before focusing on the pair with a curt nod of his helm at Dustystar's comment of wishing to keep their alliance... especially now since leaf-bare awaits them around the corner. The last thing that Windclan needed is enemies from every side or border, the thought itself makes his belly churn with discomfort.

charismatic, stubborn, adventurous, aloof, and awkward would be a few words that describe roostertuft as an individual. a former barncat that's getting accustomed to clan life after the events of the barn burning down, he oftentimes misses the life before it burnt down yet he's someone who'll adapt to change.
