Frostmoth hops up onto the stump from which he typically doles out patrol assignments. His paws are numb from the freezing morning, and the dawn sun does very little to warm them against the snowy, frosty wood he plants them on. "RiverClan, gather for patrol assignments," the call to action is the same one that his clanmates expect from the deputy every month. He waits for a few moments for them to gather before beginning without much flair.

"Lavenderspring," an obvious first choice, though he suppresses the feeling of smug satisfaction of assigning his former apprentice to lead a patrol "Take Willowburn, Shimmerstone, and Crescentmoon to the waterfall." He flicks his tail in thought for a moment before continuing. Would this be a large enough patrol for a clan where they worry about feeding so many mouths in these frigid months? "I want you all to focus on hunting. This is the time of year where the fish try to go upstream, so I think you may have luck at the base of the waterfall." He nods in finality. These are skilled warriors, and he knows (or hopes, at least) they will bring in a good haul for RiverClan.

"Pebbledream," he moves along easily, finding the new life guard among the crowd "I'd like you to take Russetfall, Passionflower, and Rushingtide to the ThunderClan border." He pauses again, thinking for a moment. Though there are some sharp individuals in this patrol, he thinks they may be more likely to mind the border between the clans than some other choices. "Be mindful to stay on our territory, but see what hunting there is to be had near sunningrocks," his eyes narrow as he speaks, taking into account the likelihood that there could be prey there that ThunderClan would never need. "And report back any 'questionable' things ThunderClan might have to say."

"Smokewreath," Frostmoth finds the smoky coat of his brother-figure among the crowd, another obvious choice to head a patrol "Take Juncohop, Guppysplash, and Damselflyfrost to the SkyClan border." An even-keeled group of RiverClan cats, but additionally carefully selected to be cats who wouldn't try to cozy up to any SkyClan high positions or their constituents.
"If you can find land prey it will be much appreciated. And... try to remember that SkyClan are as much our friends as ThunderClan are. Be wary of them. Report back if they try to tell you about some law they follow." His nose crinkles for a moment. There are some SkyClan cats he finds in favor- the medicine cat and Stormcrow chief among them- but overall they seem to leave a terrible taste in his mouth.

"Jinglemoon," he looks for the blue fur of the medicine cat next, another obvious election to shore up the next patrol "As always, I'd like you to lead our herb patrol. Though I won't be upset if you bring back some prey, either," Frostmoth feels a bit sheepish for his suggestion, but it's no secret that RiverClan has almost too many mouths to feed in such cold months "Take Sardineskip, Frigidsnap, and Silverspirit with you." This is a thoughtful and smart group of warriors. They will be able to help out Jinglemoon to the maximum of their potential. The medicine cat needs it; with no apprentice to help out in the den, Frostmoth has been conscientious about having extra paws to help Jinglemoon.

The final patrol is- to no one's surprise- another hunting assignment. "Galerunner," this is an unusual and young pick- nevermind that he'd picked his own former apprentice to lead a patrol with bias in his heart- but Frostmoth thinks he'll do a good job nonetheless. "I'd like you to take Chirpcall, Whalewatcher, and myself to the campsite," he pauses, wondering if he should assign one of the former kittypets to accompany them, but ultimately deciding against it "I've heard that since the twolegs left, there have been an unusual number of rats and raccoons around. I'd like to see if there's anything we can make of it"

Frostmoth nods in finality, jumping down from the stump. "That is all," he murmurs, moving to leave camp and take on his duties for the remainder of the day.

Lavenderspring stretches out her spine as Frostmoth calls the Clan together for patrols. The molly makes the active effort to not slip towards the tom's paws and wait for him - he's no longer her handler, and he makes as much clear soon enough. Her name flits from his maw, with no amount of pride or smugness and said with the same compassion he may have when discerning a trout from a cod, as he dictates her a patrol leader. Still, briefly surprise lights her gaze, and that warmth and security settles in her chest. It's nice to be trusted, especially so soon after being promoted.

She lingers for the rest of the patrols, listening to hear if any of the other new warriors will be given patrols. Pebbledream isn't a new warrior, per say, but the other must be feeling a rush of her own after being made a member of the council. Her father and sister, too, are tucked onto a patrol together. Lavenderspring is glad to be given her aunt, though she realizes as she searches for her patrolmates that she doesn't know Shimmerstone or Crescentmoon too well. The former, she understands, is an orphan from the shipyard. The latter is one of Adder and Wavesong's many offspring, but quieter than the rest.

Well... it's just a hunting patrol. Nothing fancy. So they'll all come out fine.

"We'll head out soon," she tells her patrol as soon as she can herd them together, "It'd be best to find the waterfall before the sun can blind us with it."
