The idea of the patrol was to head north along the ShadowClan border until they reached a point where either ShadowClan stopped marking or hit some sort of natural border. If they could get just a foxlength of more territory to hunt on this greenleaf, they could start sustaining their growing numbers and Owlbark wouldn't have to worry more grey fur from stress. The cats he told to come along trailed behind him through the brush. They moved easily within the undergrowth of the forest and if he didn't know to listen for them, they moved almost silently. He had started to feel a drop of pride grow in his chest these past couple moons for the clan they were becoming. They hunted efficiently, lived (almost) without conflict, and the apprentices were growing strongly under supervision. Juniperstar had also grown in these past moons, for better and for worse. He trusted her and she trusted his guidance. It was starting to become easy to be a Stormguard.

Vegetation thinned and began opening to a sea of slowly greening grass. By greenleaf this entire plain would be a verdant sea teeming with mice and other small rodents to nap. Owlbark opened his mouth to taste for any ShadowClan markings, and paused at an entirely new set of scents. The tom raised his tail as a signal for his patrol to stop, and slowly crept forward into the grassland that stretched before him. Either ShadowClan had added new cats to their ranks, or...

The grass rustled a few mouselengths away and Owlbark broke his crouch, arching his back and hissing, "Stop! You are trespassing on clan-owned land. Come out and show yourself." The tom's paws itched to show strange cats that ThunderClan meant to establish themselves as a fighting force. He thought back to his conversation with Thunderflash, and his claws sunk into the ground with determination to make good on that agreement.

Wildfirelullaby was never one to pass on going out on a patrol, it meant he could stretch his paws and learn a few more tricks on hunting, pass on a few tips of his own for tracking and stalking usually - part of clan life, sharing the tips and tricks, right? He didn't much like this area of the territory though, paws slowly moving from lush grass that he could carefully silently move through the underbrush of to the edge of ShadowClan where it slowly began to change, not quite to the swampland that the other group of clan decided to reside within - why he didn't quite understand but not everyone could choose the perfect territory he supposed - but as they pushed on he noticed the grass underpaw changing slowly once more and just as brown maw opened to mention it they pushed through vegetation to a vast expanse of grassland before them and quickly he found his maw clamped shut, a barely audible click leaving him as teeth clacked together from within the patrol.

Fur rose along his spine as claws unsheathed, ears pricked as he listened to try and figure out how many cats there were within the grass as soon as it rustled, as soon as Owlbark broke his crouch. He didn't like to lash out first and ask questions later but if these strange cats tresspassed and dared to continue to do so after the other's warning he wouldn't hesitate.

Yes, she was on clan-owned land… but trespassing?

Maremane did not recognize the voice that beckoned – demanded – her to reveal herself. Had it been someone she knew, she would've stepped out, casting them the most icy glare she could muster on account of wasting her time. This was not her clanmate, this was serious. Through the grass, oak fur bristled, patterns in the pelt she could not put a name to.

The cat who appeared to the ThunderClanners, borderline about to show her own teeth, was only ShadowClanner in the way she looked at the stranger. She sent marshwaters dry with the withering expression. The group before her didn't smell like one of Pikestar's, nor of the king and her party across the gorge. Maybe it was a closer one, the clan of an apprentice getting stuck in rabbit warrens.

It was her guess that WindClan was a fresh face. Those cats she'd heard whispers about in the forest, they were here in front of her, with the same structure, led by the same dead cats. With them coming into frame so recently, Maremane assumed a good first impression was crucial.

"Who the hell are y'all?" she muttered, eyes flicking from tabby to tabby, then to the rest of them.

She hadn't paid attention to see if there had been any of her clanmates around before she'd happened across this tense team – if she had, she would've taken the long route just to dodge them. Her ears flattened, the muscles in her shoulders rigid. Looking to the one who appeared to be most in charge, Maremane's voice was clipped. "You're not from ShadowClan."

It was a statement with cracks, designed where he could pry the disbelief in her voice apart with claws. She was nowhere near their border, and nowhere near RiverClan's. So who were they?

Jade eyes lowered to the pearly daggers fitting the cream-halved tabby's paws. "And can you put those away?" Maremane would've goaded it further had he been the only one there. Right now, she felt claustrophobic, even as the strangers gave her a wary distance.

Tinytail followed silently behind her sister. Always curious when she left camp, curious where she was going. It seemed like every time they left they met new cats. And this time would be no different. This group wasn't one they had met before, that was for sure. Tinytail squinted at the array of colors in front of her but couldn't make out more than blobs. It was decidedly getting worse, but she wouldn't tell anyone. She would figure it out on her own or she would tell her sister if it started to impact her in anyway shape or form. But she does agree with her sister. These weren't Shadowclan cats, the scent was different.

She jolts at her sister telling the other cats to put presumably their claws away. She hadn't even noticed. "We don't mean any harm." She needed to try diffuse the situation. If they were ready to charge in claws out...she feared this may not end well. "We didn't know anyone else besides Shadowclan was this way." A simple misunderstanding. That's all it was. Surely they'd be reasonable and listen? "Maybe we could...Just introduce ourselves! And not resort to any violence yea?" She grinned a wobbly grin at the others, leaning into her sisters side. She hopped they agreed. She didn't want to fight anyone. Not today. Not ever really.

Being this close to the Shadowclan border made Dewshine nervous, still. Copperstorm's father hadn't shown his face at all in the moons since the war but the molly was positive that he was skulking about in the swamp the rival clan now called home. Waiting to finish what he had started. It left her jumpy and fretfully looking over the border for signs of them being followed.

Owlbark's sudden stop left her more on edge and the molly stopped stiffly just behind the Storm Guard when the two strangers revealed themselves. "This is Thunderclan territory, strangers. Not Shadowclan. I'd stay away from those cowards if I were you." She bit out, head raised high despite the anxiety threatening to overwhelm her. They already had Shadowclan and Riverclan to worry about, now there was ANOTHER???

Squinting back at Tinytail, Dewshine gave a sidelong glance to Owlbark at the suggestion. Perhaps introductions might serve to smooth over the tension in the air, even if she herself was wary. She didn't want it to turn into a fight if she could help it. "I am Dewshine, a warrior of Thunderclan. Who are you two? Not Riverclan by the smell of it."

They certainly didn't smell of the territory, unless they were new..? Then again they did not seem like the swimming type.

indentAshmoon had stayed quiet up until this point, standing silent and stoic behind the rest of the patrol. If the rest were willing to do the talking, why bother speaking up? She'd probably just mess everything up and start a fight, anyways, so it was best to keep her mouth shut.

indentThe mollies on the other side of the border don't seem that dangerous, at least. The horsey looking one has an air of fear around her, though she looks like she's trying to hide it. She's outnumbered and she knows it. She doesn't think she can win a fight if one breaks out. The white-bellied molly seems equally nervous, pressing herself into the horsey one's side and offering up a shaky smile.

indentWhen the white-bellied molly suggests they introduce themselves instead of fighting, Ashmoon only grunts in response. Sure talking it out might be easier, but it's not as if winning a fight would be difficult. Dewshine goes along with it though, so Ashmoon follow suit.

indent"Ashmoon." No more introduction is needed. Ashmoon isn't a complicated cat.
