Flamerunner sat at the edge of the border, his plumy tail curled neatly around his paws and a thoughtful frown tugging at his features. He hadn't said much since arriving, just watched, waited. The walk here had been long, and the stillness around Fourtrees felt… heavy. Sealdawn's attack lingered at the front of his mind. Dragged across the border, into SkyClan territory against her will. He couldn't make sense of it. SkyClan had stood so self-righteous at the Gathering, their leader brimming with fury over ThunderClan's wrongs. They'd demanded justice, spilled blood to even the scales.
But this? What was this supposed to be?
His ears flicked back, a low grumble rumbling in his throat. Sealdawn wasn't the type to pick a fight. He'd sooner believe the stars had fallen from the sky than that she'd provoked it. The thought alone set his tailtip twitching, restless and irritated. Still, waiting could stretch on forever, and Flamerunner wasn't patient by nature. He was lazy, sure... But not this kind of lazy. He'd hunt soon, if only to prove he still pulled his weight. The last thing he needed was Sablestar's gaze burning into the back of his head.
With a long, drawn-out yawn, he stretched and lowered himself back down, eyes narrowing toward the horizon. " Come on… " he muttered under his breath, voice low and edged with impatience. " Pay attention to your borders. Someone's gotta show up eventually. " Answers were what he'd come for and the border was the only place he'd find them.
