ShadowClan
Thief
SOMETHING SACRED
HIDES IN EVERY DROP OF DEW
Border patrols were daunting things, apprehensive of cats' reactions, especially after the fiasco with Riverclan? Stars, she would never want a repeat of that. But, then again, Skyclan seemed rather reasonable! Her patrol, on the other hand...
Flamerunner was good company, but not always the most serious. Belladonadance was kind enough, though Stoatstream had not spent all too much time with her. Jadethorn and three of her too young kits-turned-apprentices being touted about and Crowpaw, who had just gotten into a fight with another cat on their border! Frankly, she had dreaded the patrol ever since she was assigned it. The young warrior tried to ask everyone to at least be polite, but it felt like a losing battle, knowing she was outnumbered by unreasonable cats. Why she, out of all of them, was to lead, out-ranked by Jadethorn herself, felt like she was being taunted.
Nonetheless, the patrol continued to Skyclan, the weather growing colder and colder on the approach to the tree-residing cats. The very earth itself was coated in the first leafbare snow, just her luck to have opted on that day to bring her apprentice on his first border patrol in the fallen snow. But these apprentices needed to learn to traverse the snow--as did she. She was only a pawful of moons old in the last leafbare, and her father vehemently refused to allow her in the snow.
But just as the snow settled underpaw, she realised as they approached the towering trees of Skyclan, it had settled precariously on the branches above. Her expression knitted in discomfort as she spoke up. "While the snow underpaw is shallow, the snow is undisturbed in the trees overhead." She flickered her tail to motion overhead. "I believe the first patrol has yet to disturb the branches, so we may run into other cats or falling snow. Watch your pawsteps and keep your eyes out for disturbed snow piles above." It was simple instructions, really, but knowing how some of her patrol could be, she wouldn't be surprised if they would be returning home with someone dithering in the cold from tempting fates.
Instead, she looked to her apprentice, smiling. "Skyclan cats can be harsh, but they're a proud clan as we are, defensive of their borders. So be polite, and we shall be given the same courtesy."'Hopefully.' While tensions were high, she wanted to teach respect, not fear. Hatred was often unfounded, and cruelty towards clans as a whole was often unneeded; not every cat was guilty of a handful of actions. So while Cougarpaw was still learning, he would be a new slate to show all clans were deserving of respect, even if clanmates had other opinions.
