Snowdropheart
But the weight of the world won't bend my knees
.
Snowdropheart had not expected to be picked to lead a patrol, but maybe she was just being too harsh on herself. If Mirepurr saw something in her, then she was going to do everything in her power to prove them right.

She led the trappers through the territory, looking for any herbs to refill Magpiepaw's stock - the young medicine cat had his paws full now that he was alone and Snowdropheart was determined to help out in any way she could. Whether that was bringing back prey or food, or, if they got lucky, maybe even both - either way, she wished to do well. A faint sound of water splashing reached her ears - was that just the breeze or a bird walking along the shoreline? Snowdropheart lowered her body as she stalked towards the pool of murky water; and sure enough, the reeds parted to reveal a sora bird parading through the shallow water.

With the rest of her patrol close behind, she stalked towards the bird silently. Before her paws could reach the water, she pounced with her paws outstreched, wrapping her claws around the bird's neck - flawless execution as the bird fell towards the water soundlessly, having no time to even react. Satisfied, she turned back towards her patrol, ready to continue.

But her gaze stopped, looking at something in the distance - a herd of deer, stretching from one side of the path to the other, some even standing in the water. There was no way to go around them, nor was there a chance she was going to make her patrol turn around - they had barely just started! The pale molly signaled with her tail for the trappers to stop, while she thought of their next steps.

"Okay everyone," she whispered, loud enough for the others to hear her, but not loud enough for the deer to notice. "I think we should sneak past them - but be careful not to startle them! These are big creatures and, though not predators, they can be dangerous simply due to their size." The molly licked her lips as she pondered her next words. "Let's split into pairs or groups of three - that way there's a smaller chance of startling the deer. And if we accidentally do, at least..." her voice grew quieter for a moment. "Well, at least we won't all be in the path of their hooves."

She looked through the trappers listening to her and landed on a friendly face. "I'll go with Tickfrost."

// Rolled a 9 for prey // Didn't roll for stealth yet, but will in my next reply // Didn't roll for herbs
OOC: Snowdropheart is to lead TRAPPERS through the territory, looking for dandelion, marigold, goldenrod, or borage. Roll a 1d2. On a 2 you are successful, roll 1d4 to determine which herb you find.
A herd of deer blocks your way... roll a 1d20 to see if you can sneak past without scaring them; 13+ is a pass! Each member must pass this check or the herd starts moving which can become dangerous.
As for hunting, roll a 1d10, on a 9 or 10 you're successful!

To make it fair, each participant can roll either for herbs or for hunting per reply, not both!

Tickfrost dipped his head when Snowdropheart chose him, padding to her side with a grunt. Good, if he had to maneuver through a forest full of towering prey-beasts, he'd rather have the calm one guiding him than some cat who'd panic at the first snapped twig. Not that he was doing much better. He tried to crouch low, truly he did, but every patch of reeds he slid into seemed determined to betray him. His fur snagged on stems, his paws found every dry leaf in existence, and the mud sucked at his steps with loud, wet schlops. He tossed Snowdropheart an apologetic look each time, hoping she didn't regret pairing with him. It just was NOT his day...

Then he saw it... A vole, fat enough to feed a kit. His stomach twisted with longing. They needed this. He needed this. Snowdropheart was focused on the deer, so maybe... Maybe he could snag the vole quick and quiet. He crept forward, inch by inch... Closer... And--

SNAP.

His paw had found a dead stick again. The vole squealed and darted, and Tickfrost lunged after it without thinking, slipping on a slick patch of mud and sliding right out of the reeds. Straight into the sight of three nearby deer. All three jerked upright, ears swiveling toward him. For one suspended heartbeat, no one moved. Then they exploded into motion. The little trio bolted in a sudden burst of panic, hooves kicking up clods of wet earth. Tickfrost swore sharply and flung himself sideways as one doe barreled past where his skull had been a heartbeat ago. He ducked behind a half-fallen stump, heart hammering, watching the three deer crash off into the trees until their silhouettes disappeared.

Silence returned... Except for his ragged breathing.

Covered in mud up to his chest and looking like a cat who'd lost a wrestling match with a swamp, Tickfrost slowly lifted his head and met Snowdropheart's gaze. " ... I'm fine... " he muttered stiffly, ears burning and feeling very much like a young apprentice again... " ... Don't say anything. "

She'd never seen such a large herd of deer before- usually it was just two or three of the creatures, maybe five. But there had to be at least twenty here, she assumed. Snowdropheart and Tickfrost split off from the main group, and Sealdawn pads off into the opposite side, intending to go around the herd.

With her small size she imagined that even if the deer did notice her she wouldn't be viewed as a threat. Still it was not something she wanted to test out today. "I'll go this way, maybe there are still some herbs growing over here." The tabby murmurs over her shoulder before continuing on light pawsteps. She moves slowly along the water's edge, hardly making a ripple as blue eyes stay sharp for anything that seemed familiar. A spot of color, the sharp scent of the medicine den, anything.

Something sweet reaches her nose and Sealdawn veers to investigate. Sweet smelling yellow flowers. She'd seen them in the den before. This was...goldenrod, wasn't it..? Yes, she was sure that was the name of it. A few flowers are quietly nipped off the plant to tuck into her fur. Hopefully she can find more herbs.
