Chrysalisgaze 𐀔 𓆣 𓆨 𖢥 𓆦 Gone cold, reawakened

Chrysalisgaze has been obedient, in hopes of getting to see her kits as soon as possible. Listening to every instruction Swallowbreeze has given her, making sure not to talk, (safe for when she relayed what had happened to Hawkstar,) not to go out and to rest her throat.
And now she was permitted to leave and Chrysalisgaze felt overwhelmed. Where should she go next, what should she do first? She got out of the healer's den and quickly had to close her eyes, for the sun shone too bright, the voices of all her clanmates ringing in her ears. Should she report to Hawkstar? Visit her children in the nursery? Grab some food? Chrysalisgaze's mind was full of conflicting emotions and commands and so she just stood there, frozen, legs trembling slightly.
The little warrior took more from her than just her blood, it seemed. She thought she was finally okay, after days spent healing, but the real healing was only about to begin - getting used to sleeping in her own nest again, waking up shivering from the nightmares, eating with the wound on her throat. It was all new to her, but she couldn't fix it, not yet at least. Despite her wounds closing, the ache in her heart has not lessened, hurting for herself, her family, for her clanmates. Even for the little warrior. What must they have gone through to be filled with so much rage and bloodthirst? And, though Chrysalisgaze has lost the fight to her own foolishness, the little warrior didn't leave the fight unscathed. She hoped they made it home, to their own healer and clanmates. More and more she was convinced the little warrior was a clan cat. The way they moved and fought, the way they spoke. It was clan mannerism.
Chrysalisgaze couldn't remember much about them, only their small yet fierce frame and their eyes. Amber, like her little Berrykit's, but full of hate. For her, SkyClan or the whole world, Chrysalisgaze did not know. She wondered if she would ever find out.
The thoughts of the fight caused pain to ripple up her scarred leg again, scars from when she blocked an attack to her throat. She deflected it once. The second time, she didn't even see the little warrior coming.
Breathe, Chrysalisgaze. she told herself, sitting down to calm her heart, tail twitching. You'll get through this. She was alive - for that she was more than thankful. She had learned afterwards that her own sister had found her, laying so close to camp, on the brink of death. Chrysalisgaze's heart ached at the thought of her family seeing her in that state. All she wanted was to make sure the borders were safe - what she got instead was a wound and a memory she would never forget.
She blinked once, twice. She was in camp now, safe. Surrounded by clanmates that loved her and cared about her. She was okay. She was okay.
Finally she looked up, the sun no longer hurting her eyes. The faces of her clanmates came into focus and she smiled to herself. She was okay.

BRIGHTNOSE ──
skyclan | sun guard

When she sees Chrysalisgaze sitting outside of the medicine den, Brightnose waits a few moments before padding up to her. She can't imagine what it's like to experience such a horrible injury, especially while she'd normally be taking care of her kits. Brightnose's heart aches with the sympathy she feels for her and her family, and she's glad that no lives had been lost at the very least. There may have been a period of strife, but her children still have their mother. That is something worth celebrating.
"It's good to see you getting some sun, Chrysalisgaze," she says as she sits beside her. "Would you like something to eat? I can grab you something - or, if you want, I could pop into the nursery and let the kits know that you're out? I'm sure they'd love to see you." Of course, Brightnose hardly expects her Clanmate to verbally respond, not with the gash on her throat still healing the way that it is; it's closed, sure, but she hardly believes Swallowbreeze would be telling her to speak freely during the recovery process. Because of this, Brightnose offers her warmest smile as she quickly adds - "Um, you don't have to say anything if you still can't! Just lead the way, I can follow wherever you want to go. Or, if you'd rather stay here, that's okay too. There's no wrong answer."

Where the north wind meets the sea
There's a mother full of memory
Come, my darling, homeward bound
When all is lost, then all is found

.

Pawsteps stirred Snowveil from her rest. Her head lifted slowly, ears angling toward the sound, each step distinct in the hush of the den. The faintest smile curved her muzzle as recognition bloomed, Chrysalisgaze. Relief flooded her chest like sunlight breaking through cloud. " It's good to hear you up and about, Chrysalisgaze. " she murmured, her voice rough with sleep but laced with warmth. She tilted her head slightly, whiskers twitching as she tracked the soft shuffle of paws, the murmur of Brightnose beside her. Her blind gaze followed them anyway, her expression a blend of pride and worry.

" Careful not to ask too much of yourself on the first go, alright? " she chided gently, a faint frown tugging at her brow. " You've been through enough for one lifetime. " she added with a frown to her face. It was a miracle she was alive and breathing to begin with... She had been half-dead when she had been dragged into SkyClan camp. The culprit would one day pay for what they had done, of that the old caretaker was certain.

A sigh slipped from her chest, half relief, half ache. If she could have seen the young warrior now, she thought, she might have scolded her for scaring them all so badly. But sight or no sight, she could hear the fragility still in Chrysalisgaze's steps, the catch in her breathing, the strain in her voice.

" I'm glad you're still with us. "

what a shame we all became

Rain was busily grooming her dozing kits. She didn't understand how their kittenfluff could pick up so much dirt and debris in the nursery. She tweezed a thin twig from the thick fur around Flutterkit's neck with her teeth. Where had that even come from!

She could hear some cat talking outside, but she ignored them. She had an important duty to attend to, after all. It wasn't until she heard Snowviel utter a familiar name from where she lay near the entrance to the nursery that her interest was piqued.
"Chrysalisgaze?"
She gasped.

Admittedly, she could have eased herself from her nest. She could have tried to carefully extracted herself from beside the kits, so as not to disturb their nap. But she didn't. In her excitement, she launched herself from the nest and bounded out of the den. Her bright gaze landed on Chrysalisgaze and Brightnose nearby, and she crossed the distance in an excited heartbeat.

"Chrysalisgaze!"
She purred loudly, twining herself around her friend where she sat. She was almost positive she had interrupted Brightnose, and in a bit she would feel bad about that, but in the moment all she felt was grateful.
"I'm so happy to see you out!"

An idea struck her and her circling came to an abrupt stop.
"You have to come meet the kits! Of course Starlingtrail will be happy to see you, too, but you haven't met my kits yet!"
She practically bounced on her paws. Chrysalisgaze had been the first Skyclan face she'd seen. Part of her hoped she'd be the first her kits saw (other than her own, of course).
Better late than never.

"Come, come,"
she urged, pressing against her side.
"You can lean on me if you need."

𓆦 𖢥 𓆨 𓆣 𐀔 Chrysalisgaze 𐀔 𓆣 𓆨 𖢥 𓆦

Brightnose's presense was a welcome one, though the questions proved too much for her. Chrysalisgaze has already been spiraling, paralysed by her own indecisiveness, the many questions too much for her mind. She smiled awkwardly at the warrior, though she was no closer to getting up, no direction to go to. She looked from one thing to another, trying to figure it out, but the world was getting blurry once again.
That was until Rain's face appeared, approaching her and wrapping herself around the scout. Not walking on eggshells around her, treating her as if everything was the way it has always been. A beam of sunshine in an otherwise storm-darkened sky.
Rain's kits! Chrysalisgaze's eyes flickered to life at the mention of the little bundles she hasn't had a chance to meet yet and finally she stood up on unsteady legs. Both Rain and Brightnose have offered their shoulders to lean on and honestly, Chrysalisgaze found herself needing the support. She hasn't been on her paws in days and they have grown weaker, number.
On slow, steady pawsteps, she followed the young queen into the nursery. Just like the day Rain first joined the clan, leaning against each other. Except now Rain was no longer filled with kits, her frame leaner and smaller, and Chrysalisgaze was the one in need of support. She let out a quick, quiet purr, despite the pain, to show her appreciation to her clanmates.
The moment her head entered the nursery, her heart leaped with joy. Her own kittens, nestles safely against their mother and...oh the sweetest four additions to the den, precious and adorable and perfect. Just like their mother.
She couldn't wait to get to know them.
