juniper
this border... how many times she had visited it and found nothing of consequence. instead, friendliness and a mutual leaning towards kindness and collaboration. there was something to celebrate in the politeness of Pikestar's reign, knowing that she could expect an enthusiastic and immediate answer to her request today. though this stretch of land is plagued with just as many potential horrors as it is joys, Juniperstar doesn't shy away from the river as if it may bite her. the stepping stones look too slick to risk walking across and if they struggled to hear her over the din of the stream they could cross- she wouldn't scorn them that, this once.
she peeks down to get a glimpse of her reflection, watching the gleam of the setting sun somewhere behind her like a crown of purple and pink. even she can tell she looks tired... for all the walking she has done today, for all the cats she has pressed on to meet with and discuss. still, certainty has not abandoned her. her paws sink into the shallows near the shore, the chill numbing the ache of worn pads and exhausted muscles. it is a nice reprieve while they wait... tufted ears listening for the bend of reeds or splash of bodies lounging about in the water. it must be nice... in these hotter months... to soak and not be stuck under the hot rays of the sun.
as soon as there is company, she pulls her feet out of the water, looking up with a warm smile. "Sorry for the impromptu visit," she begins, far less formal than she had been with her other expeditions. "If you have a moment, I'd like to suggest something..."
