this border... how many times she had visited it and found nothing of consequence. instead, friendliness and a mutual leaning towards kindness and collaboration. there was something to celebrate in the politeness of Pikestar's reign, knowing that she could expect an enthusiastic and immediate answer to her request today. though this stretch of land is plagued with just as many potential horrors as it is joys, Juniperstar doesn't shy away from the river as if it may bite her. the stepping stones look too slick to risk walking across and if they struggled to hear her over the din of the stream they could cross- she wouldn't scorn them that, this once.

she peeks down to get a glimpse of her reflection, watching the gleam of the setting sun somewhere behind her like a crown of purple and pink. even she can tell she looks tired... for all the walking she has done today, for all the cats she has pressed on to meet with and discuss. still, certainty has not abandoned her. her paws sink into the shallows near the shore, the chill numbing the ache of worn pads and exhausted muscles. it is a nice reprieve while they wait... tufted ears listening for the bend of reeds or splash of bodies lounging about in the water. it must be nice... in these hotter months... to soak and not be stuck under the hot rays of the sun.

as soon as there is company, she pulls her feet out of the water, looking up with a warm smile. "Sorry for the impromptu visit," she begins, far less formal than she had been with her other expeditions. "If you have a moment, I'd like to suggest something..."

It's not uncommon for Thunderclan to visit the border, as the two clans were close neighbors. He never felt unease whenever he spotted the Thunderclan warriors from afar. After all, they were nothing but polite. Even after his clan accidentally crossed into their territory, they were kind enough to send them away with a warning. He was forever grateful to Thunderclan for it, and he made sure everyone respected the boundaries between their clans. What transpired between their clans has been peace. It would be daring to say that their clans were friends, but he found himself okay with it. What mattered most is that neither of them interfered with one another's survival.

With little worry about the Thunderclan patrol going about their duties before leaving, he decides to relax by taking a nice dip in the river. The cool water soothed his aches. He loses track of time, finding himself staring at a setting sun. I should head back to camp before its too late. Wait... Thunderclan? Aren't they done for today? What patrols go out isn't any of his business, but it's not exactly common for their neighbor to send out a patrol or linger around the border this late. If anything, his own warriors such as Peachtrot would linger close to Thunderclan's borders, wanting to share joy along with any trinkets she brought for the day. Nevertheless, he should check it out in case there is something wrong.

Juniperstar's presence is unexpected. Unfortunately, he doesn't run into her that often when she does visit their border. It's a shame really, considering he'd like to talk to her more often. Though its apparent something is on her mind. Even if she offers him a warm smile, he can still see the exhaustion plaguing her. Is it wrong of me to offer her something? He's unable to think any further, as Juniperstar apologizes for the sudden visit. Immediately Pikestar shakes his head and offers a warm smile of his own,
"It's okay, Juniperstar. There's nothing to apologize for. It's nice to see you again."

There is little reason to lie to her. After all, she's been nothing but kind and understanding. Although, it aches his soul that he can't offer anything. I don't want her to think I am overstepping. In the end, all he can do is listen patiently.

"If you have a moment, I'd like to suggest something..."

A suggestion? Despite what transpired between Shadowclan and learning there is Shadowclan kin in Thunderclan, he can't find it in himself to be wary of Juniperstar. As much as Russetfall would scream along with many others about it. If there is one leader he has no choice to place faith in it would be none other than Juniperstar herself, even if she has ties to Shadowclan. Pikestar nods,
"What would you like to suggest? I will listen to everything you have to say Juniperstar, even if it means sitting here for countless moons."
I am here for as long as you want. There's something serious, isn't there?

The third clan in sight, and Copperstorm drew in a slow, steady breath through his nose as they neared the border. RiverClan… Of all the territories, it was the one still unfamiliar to him. Not long ago, he'd joked with Juniperstar and Boarpaw about it, lighthearted, not mocking. There was something impressive, after all, in how RiverClan moved with such ease through the water, like the currents themselves answered to them. He, however, didn't fancy the idea of swimming unless absolutely necessary. And even then, he'd curse the water every step of the way.

His ear twitched at a distant birdsong as he came to a halt, falling into a more formal stance as Juniperstar raised her voice to call out for RiverClan. Copperstorm adjusted his posture instinctively, shoulders squared, golden eyes alert. Briefly, he turned his head, glancing toward Boarpaw at his side. A soft warmth settled over his features, and he offered the apprentice a quick, reassuring wink. He hoped Boarpaw was still enjoying the trek, still soaking up the world beyond the camp with those curious eyes of his.

And more than anything, he hoped Juniperstar was finding what she needed from this journey. Connection. Clarity. Maybe even peace. Of all the clans, RiverClan had always seemed… easier. Calmer, even. Copperstorm allowed a breath of quiet hope to settle in his chest as they waited.

Let this meeting, at least, be without trouble.

When Pikestar came in view, he gave the RiverClan leader a respectful nod and the faintest of a grin. " Greetings, Pikestar.. " he meowed softly before looking to Juniperstar and then back to Pikestar.

Dull green eyes rolled at the sight of Pikestar in all of his... exuberance. Owlbark had been lucky enough to avoid the leader after reports of his personality had drifted back to ThunderClan's camp. He did not mesh well with peppy cats, he could admit. He found their bright and cheery personalities grating and tiring. He was grateful, though, for the relaxation of his muscles. Owlbark knew he was okay to let Juniperstar do what she did best and the leader across the rushing water would be safe. For that, he was grateful to Pikestar.

The deputy sat behind his leader, holding the RiverClan leader and any who joined him in a level gaze. He had no worry they would go for Juniperstar and he wanted to keep it that way. He knew Juniperstar's proposition would be beneficial in the long run for gaining information and maintaining their relations with clans. He also knew that it would mean he would be on a tense watch once a moon. Every clan cat gathered in once place... it reminded him of the colony. Thornstar had the power and drive to keep those cats managed... did Juniperstar?

He was grateful for Copperstorm's presence on this tour of the territories. The tom was a welcome addition to the council and he could see a possibility of more in his future if he kept up his current demeanor and loyalty.

what great fortune that it's Pikestar himself... no greater authority to appeal to amongst the fish-like cats and one of those more invested in mutual peace than most others. the tiredness of her paws goes forgotten in favor of relishing in the polite company. Owlbark's presence just behind her is felt in the subdued annoyance that seems to radiate off of him like a heavy odor; at least he is not practically bristling anymore like he had at every other border. she should've named him Owlquill... for how he constantly mimics an angry porcupine.

the greeting from Copperstorm is more kindness than her deputy is willing to afford, acknowledged with a flick of her ear in gratitude. maintaining a good rapport would be important here, if the request she was to make was to be honored in sincerity.

"I've been to the other clans today to ask all of you the same thing. Because I'd like to maintain some amount of dignity and compassion as groups of cats trying to survive, I'd like to ask that all five clans meet tomorrow at those towering oaks central of the territories. Once the full moon rises... no fighting just... getting to know each other. Keeping one another apprised of local dangers, holding one another accountable." that is moreso directed to ShadowClan's buffoonery, which would be more swiftly nipped in the bud if the force of the entire forest were behind the reprimand.

"Like... a meeting.... a great Gathering of some kind."

He's been doing his best to avoid Pikestar—not that it's easy. Whose bright idea was it for them all to live so close together, anyway? Sure, it offered safety that living alone wouldn't, and he could appreciate that. But it became a real nuisance when he wanted to avoid someone.

When he stumbled upon Pikestar surrounded by ThunderClan cats, Adderfang had half a mind to roll his eyes and trudge back into the thicket. He almost did, too, until he caught what was being said. His ears swiveled, twitching to attention.

A gathering? To "get to know each other"?

That was the sort of stuff he knew Pikestart was bound to eat right up.

Adderfang not so much. His nose wrinkles, and a sigh slips from his maw. It raised alarm bells in his head, loud and clear. Who was to say this wasn't just a convenient opportunity for ShadowClan and their clearly better-acquainted neighbors to back them into a corner? Pikestar might think he was doing something, spewing sunbeams and bringing em gifts but there weren't any 'allies' out here. Not really.

He didn't hold any grievances against ThunderClan, but he didn't trust them either. Especially not after hearing through the vine that ShadowClan's leader had family in the other clans.

Adderfang's gaze flicked to Pikestar cooly, before settling on Juniperstar. "No disrespect meant, but isn't that a little idealistic?" He remarks dryly as he saunters toward them. "Some of us are still sore about what ShadowClan did. A litter of kits was just born and a couple of them are real sick right now. We could've used the herbs that they stole." Adderfang tries his best to keep his head level, but the threads pull tight in his chest. Talking about it wouldn't take back what was done. He wasn't alone either. There were others like him, less willing to forgive their attackers than certain softer-hearted pushovers. " Do you really think getting the whole bunch of us in one place is a sound idea? He couldn't leave the tom to speak for them, someone had to be realistic.

ThunderClan. The reports from Peachtrot's reporting patrol had been more positive than expected; they had seemed shocked and disgusted by ShadowClan's actions. Which is more than could be said for groups like WindClan who apparently seemed to align themselves with the enemy. Still, he holds a reverent silence as Pikestar and Juniperstar speaks. His eyes focus briefly on Owlbark, leering. Does Juniperstar call him to heel like a dog, or does he willingly sit obediently like that...? His eyes narrow briefly as he evaluates the other deputy. He almost seems expectant of violence though his leader speaks of gatherings and peace-offerings, something that Frostmoth would expect from their more cordial neighbors.

Adderfang cuts in before anyone else can comment, and Frostmoth looks to the life guard as he criticizes the idea. He has a good point, but Frostmoth finds that he disagrees somehow. "I think it's a decent idea," Frostmoth over the older tomcat in with a shrug "No clan here is ready for war. Sablestar said it himself. It would be self-assured destruction." He looks back to Juniperstar. "Your clan has been burned by ShadowClan as ours has, you'll have to forgive that we are still learning to adapt to a hostile environment," Frostmoth speaks in apology to the leader, though does not intend to throw his more close-kept clanmates under the bus by any means "Still, staying shuttered is assurance that we will sever all possibility of allyship."

He levels with Juniperstar, finding that he glances again at Owlbark with narrowing eyes, before he finally turns back to Pikestar. He shrugs once again. "I think it's worth a try," Frostmoth affirms once again.

Pikestar is not one to ignore a greeting, even if other viewed it as pointless. He turns to Copperstorm and smiles,
"Greetings."
Then, green eyes trail to the apprentice by Copperstorm's side.
"And to hello you too little warrior."
As for Owlbark... He merely offers a respectful nod and smile. It's not like he has some animosity towards the Thunderclan deputy, but he has been told of how stuffy the other could be. It's not like he said hi either. I would say more if he did, but guess that's just how he is. Nothing wrong with that. Some cats are just like that.

A gathering is what Juniperstar proposes.

Before he can answer, Adderfang decides that now is the perfect chance to insert himself into this conversation. Come on! why now?! The smile Pikestar had moments ago turns into a scowl. It takes every fiber in his bones not to hiss at the life guard. What does come out is a strained warning.
"Adderfang."
Naturally, Adderfang doesn't listen and starts sharing his own opinions on the matter poorly. Pikestar will admit that he has a good point, but he could have said it nicely. Are you trying to make Juniperstar, Thunderclan mad? We already have too much on our paws to handle! A paw rubs at his temple as he sighs. I have to get him under control. Thankfully, Frostmoth cuts in and to great surprise disagrees with Adderfang. While he is unsure of the nature of Adderfang and Frostmoth's relationship, he does know that his deputy is more than wary. Taking risks wasn't something Frostmoth desired, but if he took it... The benefits outweigh the risks.

Things are still awkward between him and Frostmoth, but he would say its gotten slightly better.
"I trust your judgement,"
he affirms with a nod.

Pikestar returns his attention to Juniperstar.
"Riverclan will be at the gathering tomorrow, but I can't promise that everyone will be all too happy about Shadowclan's presence."
There is no need to name one in particular though he's certain that Thunderclan had more than a good idea who was upset about the situation. Granted everyone was for different reasons, but the manner in which they conducted themselves afterward differed. Nevertheless, Juniperstar was not here to listen to their woes. She was here for an answer and he gave her one.
As Frostmoth said earlier you'll have to forgive us on that front. However, this doesn't mean I will allow any of my clanmates to start fighting with those they have an issue with. I will remind them not to act recklessly. The last thing all of us need is a battle between all the clans."

He understands truly of Adderfang's apprehension. He too was wary when Juniperstar mentioned a gathering of all the clans. The suggestion itself was not horrid and he saw merit in getting to know his neighbors and exchanging news. The little he learned of the other clans were all based on border patrols, which scarcely led to any conversation between the clans. Especially in regards to Skyclan. Outside of border patrols his knowledge extended into the actions taken by Shadowclan. Before even meeting their leader he made an assumption of Shadowclan's land not being as abundant as Riverclans. The assumption proven true when Sablestar wanted to arrange trade between their clans. Windclan would have gone well if Dustystar didn't become so rattled after informing her of Shadowclan's actions. It made more sense now, but whatever friendship between the clans was snuffed out before given the chance to breathe.

In short, the clans like or not had issues with each other. Putting them all in one place was just waiting for a fuse to blow, unless... There were some guidelines put into place. No fighting was reasonable enough, but lacking.
"I do have my own concerns about your suggestion, such as what I am allowed to do when a warrior from another clan starts arguing with on of my own. To some, it would be seen as overstepping. After all, I do not lead them. I have no right to order them around, but I have to ensure the safety of my own warriors."
As much as he trusts Juniperstar he knows a few cats within Riverclan's ranks who wouldn't take too kindly to her diffusing the situation. Don't even get him started on the possibility of Sablestar approaching and pulling away his own warriors. Dustystar would be met with apprehension due to association with Shadow. And Hawkstar... Best not to think about it.

"Still... This would be the very first gathering. I don't expect perfection. There will be bumps along the way, but I think what each of us can gain is more than worth it."
