⋆⁺₊⋆ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ Jaykit ⋆⁺₊⋆ ☽⋆⁺₊⋆-

Little Jay's memory was hazy, like the smoke he couldn't quite remember. The cats he's grown up with were somber, their usual spark gone from their eyes. Little Jay didn't remember, couldn't remember. At times he heard screams. At times he smelt the acrid scent of something foul, but his young mind didn't allow him to explore further.

All he could focus on, all that wasn't blurry, was momma's face, looking down at him with those sad, grieving eyes. Little Jay knew there was something he was forgetting, someone he once held close to his heart. But every time he would get close to picturing their face, his head would hurt and his eyes watered. It was better not to remember.

The cats around him talked, but Jay didn't allow himself to listen to the uncomfortable parts, only hearing bits and pieces. Dusty talked about a dream, a vision of the future, new names - cats six moons and under are called '-kit'. Little Jay turned towards Cuckoo - his momma - and asked, "Does that make me Littlekit or Jaykit?" He knew his name was Jay, but he liked when others called him Little Jay, or Jaybird, so he wasn't sure. He rather let momma decide what his new name should be.

He didn't mind the change, unlike most around him - this was something new, and Little Jay thought there was something he was forgetting from the past, and he wanted to forget. Best to move forward.

"Jaykit, I suppose." Cuckoo replied somberly and Jay - Jaykit - rotated the name in his mind. Jaykit. He quite liked the sound of it, quite liked the sound of WindClan.

Jaykit knew they used to live in the barn, chase the wind through the wheat and greet the sheep with Merry. But it seemed distant, despite being only a few days, and Jaykit knew they couldn't return there anymore - though he was not sure why.

He didn't mind. He quite liked this new place if he was being honest - the wind could reach him here and play with his fur, the bird's song echoed over the horizon and the sky was bright. What else could Jaykit wish for?

What could have been so good in the past, if he didn't even remember it anymore?

And the memory of Bluebird faded, tucked somewhere unreachable in Jaykit's mind.

OOC: Little Jay is too young for his mind to comprehent the events of the barn fire and he will grow up without the memory of it. He learns eventually what has happened, but the memory won't return, at least not until the present day at the time of writing this. Cuckoo is his mother who survived while Bluebird is his sibling who did not. Both are NPCs at this moment.
