No one had warned him a pissed Blaze would be approaching him at all.
"U-u-uhm!"
Oh, I'm really in for it now. I don't know what I did wrong, but when she gets like this it never ends well. The times he had gotten her upset always winded up with him longing for her, as she purposely ignored him for awhile. It took all of his willpower not to grovel and beg for forgiveness, knowing that she would only extend the time he was left to his own devices. In short, it was never a good time when she was mad at him. Even now, he could only recoil from her piercing gaze. He was unable to meet her eyes, opting to look at a totally interesting reed in the distance.
It was times like these that he would be silent and listen to what she had to say before answering. Though, when the word pretty comes up he has to restrain himself from collapsing with a lovestruck grin. He is not doing as well as he thinks, as his lips have already curled into a smile. Unfortunately his momentary happiness is dashed.
"GIRLFRIEND?!"
Peachy? My girlfriend?! "You're wrong! Peachy isn't my girlfriend at all! I enjoy her company, but I don't like her like that at all!"
he's so lucky that the molly in question isn't nearby listening into this conversation. It would have been an absolute nightmare to juggle an angry Blaze and Peachy at the same time.
I don't think Peachy can even get angry for long, but I wouldn't want to risk it. He did enjoy her company. He saw no use in lying about it, since it was obvious. Why would he lie only for Blaze to see him smiling while talking with Peachy about shiny rocks or what flowers were the prettiest?
Admitting this may have not been the best move, but he was panicking! Here was the most beautiful molly he had ever seen, who had called him a pretty boy, fuming because he liked talking to another molly.
Wait. New girlfriend. Is... Are you jealous? The cogs began to turn. With Starclan thrusting him with new responsibilities he had little time to talk to Blaze or anyone really about simple things. Heck, he barely stood in the shipyard for long before he led them all to their new home. Everything had been a whirlwind and it would continue that way it seemed. He still had lots to do like go to this high stones place to get his nine lives.
Still... It didn't change the fact that he made Blaze worry and casted her aside. He never meant to make her feel that way. She was right to be angry with him. She should have been with him.
She's not looking at me anymore. He is at a loss of what to do. It was difficult knowing whether or not Blaze loved him or even saw him romantically. After all, she was always by his side and teasing him. It was only fairly recently that she called him a pretty boy, a title that made him want to become a puddle of goo from how lovely it sounded in her voice. If he were to be called pretty boy, then he would only want it uttered from Blaze's maw.
The moment they met he had a crush on her. The feelings only grew as time passed, but he never acted on them. After all, how could he have a chance with her?
"I... Should have taken you with me, you're right. I didn't mean to make you worry. I was always going to come back. For you."
Slowly he approaches her, stopping beside her. She still refuses to look at him.
It is with great hesitance that he places a silver paw atop of one of her own.
"Blaze, Do..."
Do you love me? "I don't want Peachy as a girlfriend. There's only ever been one cat who I want to be with for a long time now. I've had a crush on her since the moment I saw her."
An attempt is made rather awkwardly to entwine their tails, considering he's never done this before and the fact that her own is still lashing wildly. A low pained grunt escapes his lips when she practically yanks his tail with her own.
"She's the prettiest molly I've ever laid eyes on. She teases me a lot. And for some reason she's stood by my side since the very beginning. I love her so much. I would be happy if she wanted to be- have a boyfriend like me. I-i love you, Blaze."
