"ShadowClan, here." Ink-coated fur glowed in the haze of waxing moonlight, dappled between the swaying tendrils of the button bush behind him. The Clan earned a neutral stare, sweeping across the faces of cat to cat. The night of the Gathering still weighed on his shoulders, the sight of his mate's fallen form burned behind his eyelids each night. The cries of their boys ringing like windchimes between his ears. Thornstar's crackling announcement...

"Let's begin- any scent and sight from SkyClan should be met with tooth and claw. Nothing Hawkstar or her grunts have for ShadowClan is worth our time- she may stand alone on her perch. Words of ancient code do not matter here, we will not be scorned in the name of a world before us." His tail gave a single lash in his anger, his ears falling flat. He would not let his Clan be demoralized over laws that did not live on their land. Should they be relevant, he is sure Fleecefur would have mentioned them from the start. "Our allegiance to WindClan has not changed, nor our agreement with ThunderClan. RiverClan maintains neutrality, though we will still remain watchful they do not abandon their truce." With the events of that night, it may help to confirm where they stood with their borders after all. Should any foolish paw overstep their place along the thunderpath their would be quick and eager consequence.

"Now, onto better things. We have a new apprentice tonight- Pipit, you are to join the apprentices tonight now. Under the watchful eye of Flaxbelly, you will train with your new name, Pipitpaw." The oddly curious kit Magpiepaw came across would hopefully do well in the Clan, and not keep himself hopeful of spotting his mother anytime soon.

"And Dreampaw," A pair of sights mirroring his own, Sablestar smiled warmly. "You'll be assigned a new mentor. Starting this moon, Halfshade will be in charge of your training." He nodded to the split-shaded molly in brief regard before moving on.

A pair of green eyes met his first. A scrappy thing that was dragged into ShadowClan's camp with blood-caked fur, couldn't keep himself out of a fight to save himself. "Snakepaw, you have met your assessments with success, Loudclaw has done well with your training. You have shown diligence in your efforts to achieve your warrior name, and in respect you have earned the name Snakefang." Sablestar meowed with pride as another warrior joined their ranks, and not the only one, either.

His eyes moved to Sealpaw, tipping his muzzle down to gesture her forward. "Sealpaw, as you left the life of the Colony, you learned how to become a ShadowClanner alongside us. Smogmaw has trained you well and proper, proudly showing the skills he has taught you in each assessment. Tonight, as you leave the apprentices, you will join the warriors as Sealdawn." A face unlike her peers- friendly, naive, different from the night that hugged around the leader. But still committed to duty and those around her- her Clan. A proper warrior, in the end.

"Tickpaw, come forward." The next to join after Fleafire. "Mirepurr and I have seen you are ready to join the warriors den. You mirror them well and give balance to your Clanmates where it is needed. For that, you earn the name Tickfrost."" One more, to complete the set of kin. "Now, Webpaw." Sablestar flicked his tail as he addressed the final sibling. "You have learned beside Bluegale the life of a ShadowClanner, and done well to prove yourself capable of one. From this moment on you will walk as Websight." Sablestar took a deep breath as he stood back on all paws.

"That concludes our meeting, ShadowClan. Rest well if you are weary, good hunting to those who will join me tonight." The tuxedo hummed as he dismissed his Clan.

Still so young, Desperate for attention!

indentttMothbite whoops and hollers in support of the new warriors. Time has moved quickly - in his mind, they're all still so young. He can still vividly see little Seal huddled up to Leopard's belly, feel the weight of Tick's scruff in his mouth as he rushes the dying kitten back to camp. They've all come such a long way!

indenttt"Whad'ya think, Monsterpaw?" Mothbite addresses his own apprentice, grinning cheekily. "Pretty soon, you'll be having your own name called out by Sablestar!"

Grayflight, though not directly involved in the training of the new warriors, couldn't help but be proud of the young cats as they recieved their new names. After all, it showed the strength of their Clan, to have such a strong batch of young warriors. They would certainly be needed in the times to come.
"Snakefang! Sealdawn! Tickfrost! Websight! Pipitpaw!" he cheered. Tonight they would all sleep in peace under the watchful eye of these new warriors.

SPEECH || THOUGHTS

Mirepurr presents themself as if Sablestar is about to make them into a warrior for the first time instead of their apprentice. It's not out of anything egotistical—it's not like they wish to steal the spotlight from the group that had finally proven themselves to their leader and their Clan. No, Mirepurr is simply a bundle of nerves, and they deem it necessary to keep themself moving in order to combat it all. It forces them to clean their fur excessively, even though there isn't room for a single speck of dust to settle on them right now.

They force themself to actually pay attention to Sablestar's words. They're important; Mirepurr isn't certain how to feel about the tense politics, but they have to stand by whatever ShadowClan is standing by.

And then finally, he carries onto why Mirepurr can scarcely sit still.

"Pipitpaw! Snakefang, Sealdawn, Tickfrost, Websight!"
Their voice echoes through the clearing, attempting to stand out amongst the crowd. It is rare that they raise their voice... but then, it is rare that they feel such a sense of accomplishment, especially nowadays.

When the ceremony comes to a close, Mirepurr beelines for Tickpaw- Tickfrost. His new name suits him.
"I cannot believe it... you had just been assigned to me. How are you feeling?"
They look at Tickfrost in a new light, even though he is the very same cat as yesterday. He merely has a new coat of paint. Still... Mirepurr swears they are about to burst into tears at any given moment. They attempt to sidestep that with some light humor.
"I am afraid I cannot promise not to call you by your previous name..."

Sealpaw listens intently as Sablestar speaks, nodding in agreement with a slight frown to how they would treat Skyclan. As long as no one crossed borders they wouldn't need to resort to that, right? She supposed with the thunderpath acting as Shadowclan's own natural border of sorts it would help deter Skyclan at least somewhat. If it happened...if it came down to a fight... She'd be ready, she'd do her best.

The topic shifted to a new apprentice-the strange kit Magpiepaw had found in the pocosin, and she lets out a cheer for the newcomer. She hoped he'd settle in well. Dreampaw also became an apprentice, finally matching his sibling who had been apprenticed moons before to Cicada and-

Her name was called and she looked up almost as if startled by the sound of it before stepping forward. Sealdawn..? Sealdawn.

That was her.

She was a warrior now. Sealdawn stood a little straighter, just slightly. A little more confident in herself at being named as such.

She hoped if her mother could see her- if she was somehow able to watch from wherever cats went when they died, then Leopard was proud of her.

Tickpaw harkened to the call of their leader, a faint frown tugging at the corners of his mouth as he padded forward and settled himself among the others. He idly plucked a few stray leaves from his pelt, leftovers from yet another fruitless herb hunt. Still, the small flowers tangled in his fur looked rather nice, even if he hadn't found what he'd been looking for. His torn ear twitched as Sablestar spoke of SkyClan. Tickpaw's orange eyes flicked toward the leader, narrowing slightly. They were to meet SkyClan with tooth and claw? That didn't sit right with him. Wouldn't that just spill more blood? ShadowClan didn't need to fight. They could rise above it, treat SkyClan like dust on their paws, not enemies to be torn into. But still, he kept silent.

There was talk of a code they knew nothing of, of alliances with WindClan, unsurprisingly, Sablestar had kin there, didn't he? ThunderClan remained in their usual, lukewarm stance, and RiverClan? Neutral. For now. He tipped his head slightly, lost in thought, until a name pulled him back into the present. Pipit. Now Pipitpaw. A soft smile curled on his lips. Apprenticed to Flaxbelly. And Dreampaw with Halfshade, he liked her. Always had a cool presence about her.

Then... Snakepaw. Snakefang, now. Tickpaw scoffed under his breath but dipped his head all the same. Fair was fair. He supposed the tom had earned it. And Sealpaw, now named Sealdawn.... Her promotion sent a small jolt through him. She'd always been "paw" in his head, but that name suited her. Strong. Steady. He found her in the crowd and offered a small nod, warmth flickering in his eyes. Smogmaw had trained her well.

And then... he blinked. His eyes drifted toward Mirepurr, silent question flashing across his face. Was this really happening? But Sablestar continued... His name was among them. A warrior name. Tickpaw stepped forward, paws suddenly heavier than before. His heart was beating hard in his chest, but a smile crept up onto his maw, slow and genuine as Sablestar named him. Tickfrost. The name settled on his shoulders like mist: cold, sharp, and just right. He glanced over at Webpaw, no, Websight now and caught her eye. A wink passed between them, and he nearly laughed at the whoops and cheers that followed. He'd shouted those same cheers for others once. Now they echoed back for him and those with him.

A shape moved toward him, Mirepurr. And all at once, warmth bloomed in his chest. The one who had taught him everything. Not just how to fight or hunt, but how to think. How to be a part of something bigger. Mentor... and maybe more. Not that he'd ever say the word parental out loud. " Thank you. " he said, voice tinged with flustered pride as he stood before them. He rolled the name over his tongue again, tasting it like fresh water. " Tickfrost... " he hummed, orange eyes shining. " I feel the same as I ever have... " he admitted, then bumped his head gently against theirs in affection. " Thank you... for all your teachings. I wouldn't have made it here without you. "

A light chuckle escaped him. " And I suppose I'll forgive you for calling me a paw, if it's accidental. " he joked, practically beaming, radiant and proud, standing tall where he once doubted he belonged.

Monsterpaw flicks one ear listening to new apprentices' be named and assigned their own mentors, just last moon he had stood in their paws. More denmates was a good thing especially if it meant he had more cats to train with and alongside. Most cats' his age would probably see it as a great chance for making some new friends as well but Monsterpaw had never really been good at that part of Clan life.

Alongside the new apprentices' though there were also new warriors named, Snakepaw, Sealpaw, Tickpaw and Webpaw would all earn their warrior names becoming Snakefang, Sealdawn, Tickfrost and Websight respectively. Monsterpaw would blink looking a little surprised when he heard his own name be mewed-- It was his mentor, Mothbite! Asking what he thought and that soon enough he'd be earning his own warrior name, the young tom straightened up his posture at the thought, his short tail thumping against the ground where he sat. "What do you think my warrior name will be?" He rumbles softly to his mentor, tilting his head to the side slightly like a confused dog.

All the warriors' names were fitting and strong, much like ShadowClan itself. Mothbite like his mentor had been named held a power to it that Monsterpaw envied! It didn't show too clearly but he was excited for the day he earnt his full name. There was one cat he knew would earn their own before him though that he was equally excited for too and his copper gaze would search for her familiar white and faint lilac coloured pelt... Stoatpaw, he wondered too what her warrior name would be.

Snakepaw heard with diligent attention to everything said by Sablestar. Even if he knew he was supposed to get his name at this meeting, he still felt surprised by hearing it. Like he half expected Sablestar to forget about him or even postpone his graduation. Like he didn't deserve to be a warrior yet.

However, there it was. He really did it, didn't he? He was a warrior. A real one.

"Snakefang."

His name was cool even! Wow! He didn't even know how to react. He smiled wide, as he had never smiled before, with a hint of sincerity that he didn't always allow for other cats to see. Snakefang. Snakefang. That was him. That was his name! Wow!

He heard older warriors shouting his name, cheering for him. He wasn't someone with many friends. Well, he probably had only one friend, actually. But some cats were still cheering for him? That was surely something. It felt…nice? It made his heart warm. He was a Shadowclan warrior now.

(𓆩✧𓆪) juniperstar's mini-me sits with his tail curled around his paws, bright eyes fixed on his father. though he had been apprenticed in the previous meeting, he still expects his name to be called, and stands when it is. bogsting, his previous mentor, had been injured and papa had told him he'd receive a new guide soon. sablestar calls for halfshade, and the boy meets his new mentor's gaze with an excited flick of his tail, padding over to touch noses with the dual-hued molly. "i'll be the best apprentice ever," he vows, jaw set and face determined. with this, he will sit back down to watch the rest of the meeting. pipit becomes an apprentice, and snakepaw, sealpaw, tickpaw, and webpaw are called up

warrior ceremonies aren't so different between here and thunderclan, although sablestar hasn't included his devotion to starclan in his speech. dreampaw hardly cares - his dad is allowed to believe whatever he wants, although as far as the young boy is concerned, the stars are real. as the young warriors are presented - snakefang, sealdawn, tickfrost, websight - so the chocolate dappled tom will stand and wave his tail. "woo! snakefang! sealdawn! tickfrost! websight!" he knows one day he'll be receiving his name from his father, and it sends a shiver of excitement down his spine. he can imagine himself, magpiepaw, and asterpaw standing in front of their parents (reunited and happy) to be heralded as full members of their clans. dreamgaze... or dreamberry, perhaps, in honor of his mother. asterpaw could be asterfrost... or astergleam. magpiepaw will receive a medicine cat's name, magpiebloom, or magpieshade. a smile graces the maw of the boy as he daydreams.

indenttt"Huh, your name?" Mothbite cocks his head to the side and hums in thought. It's not really his place to decide names, but... "It's gotta be something cool, right? Monster- anything would be badass. Monsterclaw, Monsterfang, Monsteryell." That last one doesn't sound as cool out loud as it did in his head. "Erm, Sablestar is probably a lot better than choosing names that I am."

indenttt"That's the important part of a name, anyways." He purrs. "It's recognition of all you've done for Shadowclan, and the sort of impression you've made on Sablestar." ——————————————— Together, we'll make our way home ✦

At this point, Stoatpaw dreaded meetings only because she knew she would overthink the events and hurt her own feelings. Though at least being aware of it would make the feeling lessen, she hoped.

The ivory apprentice sat beside her little brother, Monsterpaw, rather than sulking at the back like the last time. Sablestar was big on clan unity, and the last thing she wanted was another argument that could put her graduation on thin ice. But more importantly, she wanted to support him; there was only so long they got to be apprentices together, and she wanted to enjoy it.

As the leader spoke, her stomach turned. Where she had prepared for the inevitable promotions, she had not foreseen the command to meet Skyclan with violence. Stoatpaw knew Hawkstar had been far too harsh, killing Juniperstar, but it felt sensless to return the violence in kind, especially not when she had just connected with a cat like her. Stoatpaw's stomach sank at the idea of Downypaw being caught in a fight with her clanmates.

She tried to shake the unease, smiling as better news came. More apprentices, including Dreampaw recieving a new menotr, it felt like so long ago he and Magpie were first brought to the clan, and her heart swelled with pride for him. While they were not blood kin, she still felt the same affection for the now apprentice as she does for Monsterpaw. Maybe it could be nice to bring them all along for some hunting before her own graduation.

Speaking of, Stoatpaw pushed away the yawning ache in her chest as one after another, the rest of her friends received their warrior names: Sealdawn, Tickfrost, Websight. She even shot Snakefang a smile, she didn't much get along with him, but it was still a reason for pride to become a warrior. As she saw clanmates call their names, she joined the chorus of cheers. Her friends had worked themselves to the bone to earn this, Tick and Web coming from the mill and fighting their way to respect in the clan, while Seal became more and more confident in herself and her abilities as the days passed. Pride warmed her chest watching those she loved succeed.

As the meeting ended, Stoatpaw rose to her paws, ready to join the hunt as always, but her attention was drawn to Mothbite and Monsterpaw talking, and again a smile graced her expression. She padded close and rasped Monsterpaw's ear affectionately. "Whatever Sablestar chooses for you, it will have been well earned, Monsterpaw. I look forward to the day of seeing you graduate." Stoatpaw beamed. She still couldn't believe how much he had grown already, only seven moons and already challenging Fleafire for height. Oh, how ironic it would be if he were to exceed even Stoatpaw in height, despite being the youngest of the three.

Genuine smiles are quite rare for the rusted apprentice but he managed one when his mentor mentions that anything would be badass for his full name, his short fluffed tail thumping against the ground where he sat a few times in a happy but prideful sort of way. "Monsterbite would be the coolest I think" It would mean he was named after his mentor after all! It was ultimately up to Sablestar in the end though of course and he wondered how to leader always came to his final conclusion on names, how many other possible names did he go through in his head before landing on the final one?

Monsterpaw listened carefully as Mothbite went on, the important part of a name, the recognition for all that you've done for ShadowClan and the impression you give to Sablestar... The apprentice would gaze up at the leader and wonder what exactly he did think of the young apprentice-- If he thought anything of him at all yet? Monsterpaw was endlessly grateful to the older tom for having allowed him into ShadowClan when he'd been found as a scrappy little kit all alone in the mangled remains of a monster up a tree. He could have told Timberfrost to abandon him by the Thunderpath or wherever else but he hadn't and his generosity hadn't been so soon forgotten by the young tom. He hoped he'd made a good impression so far but he knew deep down he wanted to make a bigger impression... He had been assigned one of Sablestar's own Night Guards' as a mentor, he was sure their leader was expecting great things from him!

When his ear was rasped by Stoatpaw he'd give a deep rumbling purr back in response, trying to bump his head gently against her shoulder. "Same to you too, you've trained hard. Next meeting I know he will call out your name" He was certain of that, there was not any doubt in his mind that his sister would earn her new name by the next moon. He wasn't looking forward to not getting to graduate alongside her or continue to train with her of course, but he was so very proud and would be cheering her name the loudest when the time came. Monsterpaw tilted his head slightly when looking at Stoatpaw, when had she gotten to be more around his height? Had she gotten smaller? No-- That wasn't possible, he had gotten taller! It was a strange thing to realize, it had felt like not many moons ago that he had only been a little scrap of a thing next to her and Fleafire.

"What about your name, Stoatpaw? What do you hope it'll be?"

OOC- Talking to @Mothbite and @Stoatpaw

-

When her siblings' names are called, Fleafire nearly blows her lungs out. She filled her lungs and let it rip, obnoxiously loud and bellowing over the crowd as she bounced on her toes to see over the wall of pelts around her. "YEAHHH TICKFROST! WEBSIGHT! WHOOOO!" She didn't care whose eardrums suffered at their expense. If anyone deserved to have their names howled the loudest, it was them. They'd fought tooth and claw to get here, and she wasn't about to let anyone forget who was standing up there right now. Those were her siblings. Real warriors of ShadowClan who earned their place up there.

That didn't mean she was ignoring the others. She still didn't know how she felt about Sealdawn, but they'd earned their warrior name too. If anyone had proved themselves, it was them. Few other cats could say they'd tackled a coyote by themselves to save one of their clanmates. Fleafire wouldn't forget that and she'd told the former apprentice as much. She as Sealdawn might not be friends, but there was respect there and a debt Fleafire intended to repay no matter what.

Snakefang though… eh. Mixed feelings. He had a loose tongue and a big head he hadn't earned, but he wasn't all bad. At least he thought she was cool, which said a lot about his good taste. If he stopped being such an airhead, maybe they could even be friends. That was asking a lot of him though.

"Let's go, Sealdawn! Snakefang!" She yowled, not quite as loud but still grinning ear-to-ear. New warriors meant a stronger ShadowClan and that was worth cheering for.

As soon as Sablestar wrapped up, Fleafire shoved her way through the crowd to look for her siblings. She spotted her brother's familiar pelt and barreled straight into him. "Hey there, Tickfrost!" A loud purr rumbled in her throat as she roughly mashed her face against him. "You looked so damn cool up there! Can't believe we're both warriors now." The feeling was electric, buzzing in her paws. They'd both made it—together. Thinking about how far they'd come lit a fire in her chest.

They don't know, they can't see

Fleapaw values family the most with survival at a close second. In conversations, she is blunt, fun-loving, and clever. She is guided by her desires which often leads her astray. Despite her abrasive personality, she cares deeply for those she loves and will do anything to protect them. Due to her experiences, Fleapaw is corrupt and has minimalistic, if any, morals. She does not care for the warrior code and its restraints. Neither does she believe in StarClan. Growing up in a kitten mill, being separated from her mother, and ending up on the streets have deeply affected her view of the world.
