Lavenderpaw doesn't know how she let time get away from her. She spent the night - moon, stars, and all - just talking to that ThunderClan-ShadowClan boy. About anything, too - they meandered about the shapes in the skies, the rolling clouds, the difference in prey, trees, grass... She got him to step into the shallows for a few moments, too. It seemed as if they were doing anything to continue spending time together, yet before they knew it, the sky began to lighten. Lavenderpaw recalled with a ruffled pelt that Frostmoth intended for them to take dawn patrol. And yet, here she was as dawn approaches. She doesn't quite recall the goodbye she gave Asterpaw - only that she raced back atop the dry stepping stones and rushed home once again.

Her paws skip across the smaller stream that designates the start of their camp, butterfly wings daintily clamped between her teeth. The dens have begun to stir, some warriors already having departed from their nests. She cringes as she skirts around them, desperately trying to sneak and avoid suspicion...

Late to sleep, early to rise. Frostmoth is, as per usual, ahead of the majority of RiverClan when he emerges from his den with the very beginnings of morning light. This is the best time of day, when dawn has not yet broken but the birds still sing while the dew has not yet been singed by the sun. Dawn comes quickly, though. And Frostmoth waits patiently as he begins to gather his patrol and give out daily duties. It had not gone unnoticed that Lavenderpaw had not yet emerged from the apprentices' den. Unusual for the enthusiastic apprentice. Frostmoth flicks an ear thoughtfully. Perhaps she isn't feeling well...? He casts a glance toward Jinglemoon's den, thinking whether it might be overkill to go ahead and send for the medicine cat. Frostmoth scuffles his paws, as if telling himself not to. He does not want to appear overbearing. Some mentor he would be to cast concern over an apprentice who is likely just sleeping in, and worse to disturb their medicine cat over nothing.

A small splash has the deputy glancing over his shoulder with wide eyes. He is certain he hadn't seen anyone leave camp yet, unless they had been even earlier to get up than him. He grimaces, and parts his jaws to smell the air just in case there is an intruder. Yet there isn't much to be said about the scents that are carried over the stream. Movement nearby has Frostmoth's gaze snapping in another direction, nearly giving him whiplash. The blue coat of Lavenderpaw is quickly recognized, and Frostmoth frowns in confusion. Maybe if he hadn't already been here she would have been able to slip back into the apprentices' den without being noticed. Unfortunate.

"Lavenderpaw...!" he half-hisses, half-whispers, voice carried by a morning breeze that tugs at his long coat. His eyes narrow. Is she carrying butterfly wings? What sort of butterfly flutters at night? Frostmoth's eyes narrow, but he does not desire to wake up the whole camp over his suspicion. The bicolor strides toward his apprentice. "You look like you haven't slept," Frostmoth comments, voice fraught with alarm "Where were you so early? Why aren't you resting?" As far as he is concerned, he doesn't care if his apprentice wants to be the earliest bird to catch the worm, but the behavior seems awfully... Out of place.
