{$title} takes place after her threads with Gale/Flea/Blade

After talking to Galepaw the other day, Heather had finally gotten the scent of RiverClan sealed in her mind. No more stumbling into territories of other Clans! No more getting attacked by strange, mean she-cats. Her cheek still hurt a little from it, though the scrapes had healed up thanks to Blade.

She padded across the border, a couple little minnows from the shipyard held firm in her jaws. If she was lucky, she'd finally be able to meet up with Ivytwist! Wouldn't he appreciate having a little meal with her? Then she would be able to ask more about RiverClan and learn more about him too, if they could sit and enjoy a meal together. Her heart fluttered as her hopes rose at the prospect of meeting the handsome tom who hadn't left her mind since their last meeting. Was it too soon to say it was a crush? But if she had the feelings for him, who cared about "too soon" or not?

While she didn't want to consider what might happen if he didn't show, she could at least offer up the prey to anyone she did run into. Galepaw might enjoy them! She really ought to thank him for being so kind, especially now that she knew not all Clan cats were so kind to loners who crossed a border line.

Heather took a seat just inside the RiverClan border, setting down the minnows at her paws and looking about, scenting the air and waiting.

    SPEECH || THOUGHTS

Ivytwist had managed to peel away from his patrol after a harsh day of hunting. He had been more distracted than he wanted to be, unable to hook his claws through the gills to save his life. The waning sunlight would glimmer off the surface, sending a glare into his eyes right as he was about to strike. Or the shadow of a bird overhead rose just in time for his prey to flee further beneath the surface. It wasn't a good day, in short. He needed some time away and breathe through it before returning home.

The idea of Hydrangeabloom greeting him at home softened the edges of failure that prickled within his chest like thorns aimed at his heart. Hydra would clean the salt from his fur and tell him there would always be another hunting patrol. That a good night's rest was all he really needed. Of course it normally worked, too. Ivy was rather good at keeping his mind whirring with a million thoughts at once when he didn't let himself get enough sleep, and especially when he missed his morning meal. He was just about ready to turn and face the path for home when his senses picked up on something familiar. Wheat and rocky...

"Heather?" He meowed into the brush before poking his muzzle through it, his pace picking up speed. "Heather!" Ivytwist repeated once he saw her, shocked. "Hey, how did you manage to find me here?" He said with a laugh in his voice, sitting beside her with ease. He glanced towards the small fish beside her and nodded. "Looks like you had better luck than me, today. I haven't caught anything since I left at dawn." He sounded mildly envious, but it didn't stick for very long.

Heather beamed as Ivytwist approached. She got to her feet, purring, and butted heads with the tom before sitting back down beside him, fur just barely brushing against his.

"Well, it wasn't easy to find you!" she joked. "I got attacked by this really mean cat in the marshy place, and the last time I was here I met this funny little cat named Galepaw-" Her grin widened as he complimented her catch.

"Oh! It was actually pretty difficult - I didn't want to hunt on the territory here, but. I was hoping to see you! And figured we could share a meal! Assuming you have enough time?" Her heart pounded as she asked, hoping that they'd have more time together this time. To actually get to know each other.

Heather nudged one of the minnows to Ivytwist with her paw before taking a bite of the other, humming as the delightful fishy taste hit her tongue.

"How've you been?" Gotta be casual!

"Oh, ouch." Ivytwist cringed at the mention of what he could only assume was a ShadowClan cat. He slowly shook his head and sighed quietly. At least her next interaction had been RiverClan, Galepaw. There were more ornery Clanmates she could have met. "I'm glad you didn't go back to the swamp. They're not kind of any sort... they stole from us just some moons ago. We didn't have herbs for our sick because of it." His frown softened after a bit. He didn't want to linger on that now.

"I think I do. No one's expecting me home right now." Ivytwist smiled and shuffled closer, leaning down to take one of the minnows for himself. They were small but it was filling the cold in his belly from not being able to catch anything earlier. They reminded him of early mornings at the shipyard, rallying up some of Hydra's younger siblings to collect seaweed before the tide returned. "Eh..." He drew his tongue over his nose quickly.

"The chill off the river's been growing colder, lately. But I think we're in a better place to get through the winter than we were last time. It's hard to admit but... this Clan, as new as it is, it's starting to work better than I thought. I've been hoping Pikestar gives me another apprentice soon. Our nursery is rather full, so I think I have some pretty good chances." Ivytwist smiled and licked the last bit of minnow from his muzzle.

"Did your travels take you anywhere... nice? No more angry cats in swamps?" He dipped his head when he noticed the small scuffed mark on her cheek that hadn't been there before. He reached out a paw to look closer. "This looks like it's healing well, does it still hurt?"

Heather looked at him in utter horror.

"They stole from sick cats?" she mewed, her voice grave. "That's evil!" Heather couldn't imagine how horrible someone must be to steal from sick cats.

Well, I certainly won't ever interact with them again!

"I'm glad that things seem to be going well," she mewed, pleased that Ivytwist seemed optimistic about the coming cold. Truthfully, she'd been avoiding thinking about the coming cold and how she'd handle it on her own, but maybe... Well, she wouldn't push too hard right now. "I'm sure Pikestar will give you another apprentice! I bet you're an amazing warrior." Heather let the compliment hang in the air while she finished her minnow, humming happily.

"Oh! I did meet a nice cat - he let me stay with him for a few nights while I was healing. He wanted to go beat up the cat who hurt me, and then I had to help him recover when he got back." Maybe she could go find Blade again and spend the leafbare with the young cat. It wouldn't be horrible. "Other than that... It's been pretty calm. Just sort of doing my own thing." When his paw moved to touch her cheek, she purred and moved into the touch.

"Not so much anymore. I probably won't even end up with a scar, which I'm really grateful for." She couldn't help but take pride in her appearance.

An amazing warrior, sure. Ivytwist smiled at the compliment. He would have felt it more believable had he not been so clumsy-footed on his hunt today. But if Heather could see the lovely vine-wrapped stones and pearl-studded crowns he had made... Maybe she deserved to see that when they meet again. Already he thought of the many colors that dotted the riverbed, stones and seaglass washed in from the shipyard.

Maybe something blue, pale and round to compliment her fur. A simple wrap for the tail, out of the way from her paws so she didn't trip on it or feel too heavy when stalking.

"It's good to now there's more good cats out there than not. The other Clans we border, or even the one's we don't, make it hard to remember. Most of us used to live at the old Shipyard, there weren't many cruel cats. But plenty of crotchety one's." Ivy hummed in his own amusement, and held her for a few moments too long. Hastily did he pull away, but not so much to be rude. "You're a real trooper then, huh? Some of the warriors here would jump for a whole day in their nest over a thorn in their paw." He lightly jest with a small chuckle.

Ivytwist patted the scar above his eye. "I got this one from a nasty turtle. Got too close while trying to fish, and gave me its claws." Buried under all that sand it was pure luck he managed to dodge beneath the water and narrowly keep his eye.

Heather's purrs rumbled through her whole body, threatening to lift her onto her toe tips with glee. Ivytwist's words were genuine and kind, and the compliments he gave made her heart soar.

Oh, she was falling, and so so fast.

When Ivytwist showed his own scar, she couldn't help but lean forward and press her nose to it, closing her eyes as she did so.

"I think it's very handsome on you," she mewed softly, flicking her tail closer to his. "I may not want a scar on my face, but I think it suits yours."
