Heather had been getting to know her new Clanmates over the past moon, all the while her belly swelled - not only with the unborn kits, but also with thanks to a steady supply of food and a place to rest. Despite Ivytwist's... despite...
In spite of him, Heather had started making friends, started chatting amiably with other cats, and helped around camp where she could. In fact, with the rest and fresh-kill, Heather was fairly certain she looked better than ever before, too. Not that her appearance mattered much now, not with the whole.... Anyway.
Heather sat by the edge of camp, grooming her muzzle after her meal, and every so often her gaze flicked to her reflection. It wasn't exactly vanity, but it was more fascination. Previously, she'd only seen herself in moving water, dirty puddles, the like. Now, she could see her fur in detail, the light in her eyes - still there, despite it all. And just like now, she would be able to see the reflections of others.
Oh! That was... Lilacbird, right? Heather looked up from the river and smiled at her newfound companion.
"Oh! H-hey," she mewed. "Nice day, huh?"
