JASPERKIT ⭑✶⋆.˚ its like you've been replaced
meow

Jasperkit wanted to play. There was an excitement boiling inside the kit that had her racing through the nursery and bounding through piles of moss that made up her and her siblings nest. When it was finally time to go outside- she at least did make for certain that the nests were tidy so she wouldn't get called back in early. And for her own sanity. She set her pile of shells she had found over the moons neatly to the side, and shoved her nose into Wavesongs chest.

Some days were hard. There was an ache in her belly that would make her feel hungry, even if she just ate... But she didn't wanna bug Jinglemoon. Or ask for more, because Jasperkit felt like that would be greedy, and she didn't wanna be greedy! Jasperkit pushed free of the nursery, and sometimes she forgot how big camp really was to her. Her zoomies could commence.... Or?

The pale kitten, freckled with red, and black painting her tail and chest would dive forward, finding a target. She had never climbed the leaders rock, and after watching Pikestar seem to jump up on it so easily, she wanted to see if she could too! The tortie would come to it's base, looking up as it seemed to loom over her. With a paw to her chin, she decided it wasn't that big. So she would pull back a few steps... Crouch low with her butt in the air, before leaping up. (She imagined herself as a large cat, one that was so big because she ate her fish- one that could swim against any tide- and run super fast!)

Her claws dug into the stump side, her legs aiming to grip into the bark. She could almost reach the top! She raised a paw- and her grip loosened. Her body fell dramatically as she flailed. She imagined in her head climbing a great cliff- oh how scared she was for a moment! But when she fell into the dirt, and shook her fur free- she was just fine. Giggles loudly erupted her.

"That was fun! I'm gonna do it again! Watch watch!" She said- flicking her tail as her bi-coloured gaze looked around to the rest of her clanmates.

Wavesong kept a sharp yet fond eye on the kits tumbling about the clearing, a soft smile warming her features. Strawberrykit was nestled against her side, tiny leg twitching as she dreamed, her breath warm against Wavesong's flank. For a moment, despite the ache that never fully left her chest, Wavesong allowed herself to feel content. This life... This home, it was one she was building piece by piece, even with the empty spaces still echoing inside her. She missed Rosepaw fiercely, a constant sting beneath her ribs. She prayed to every star in the heavens that the young she-cat was safe, wherever her paws had taken her. Crescentmoon and Rushing had grown into strong warriors, and even Galerunner, her apprentice, her pride, now wore his warrior name with quiet dignity. Thunderpaw would join them soon enough, the poor lass had simply been forced to wait a bit longer than her peers. So many apprentices had risen this moon... It made her heart both swell and twist.

She wondered how it would be if Adder was aside her during this time. Would he have been proud of their children reaching warriorhood? And soon, her little guppies would take those same steps. Soon they would leave her nest behind, eager to chase the future. The thought brought both pride and a soft ache to her chest. " Careful, ye wee rascal! " she called out warmly as Jasperkit scrambled up the stump Pikestar used for clan announcements. Her voice echoed through camp, loud enough that Strawberrykit jolted awake with a squeak, rolling to her belly and blinking owlishly before bounding after her brother.

Just in time to see him fall.

" Hey! Hey... Try again! " Strawberrykit chirped, puffing out her tiny chest with purple eyes bright as amethysts. " We can get atop! I'm sure of it! "

Wavesong let out a low, musical purr, amusement softening her expression as she watched them scramble and strive. Never one to hover, she simply remained where she sat, an anchor, a presence, a warm place to return to. " Yer doin' wonderfully, both o' ye. " she murmured, pride shimmering in her blue eyes. Her voice carried love, encouragement, and something deeper, an understanding that kits must stumble before they learn to stand tall. Let them explore. Let them climb. Let them tumble. She would be there for the soft landings. Always.

𓆝 𓆟 𓆞 The chocolate-patched kit watches their clanmates play, but doesn't move from the comfortable spot they've settled in just outside the nursery's walls. They're sleepy, blinking heavily as they're forced to keep their head upright rather than letting it crash to their paws as they nap. But the sudden sound of something crashing to the ground snaps the kit to attention—their face flashes with concern and fear as they stumble to their paws and quickly whirl around in a circle to take in the entire camp. The dog—the one that hurt Howlingkit, did it come back? They can't see any sign of a gigantic beast, nor can they smell the musty indicator of its presence that they had caught a whiff of before. Gradually, the kit's tensed form relaxes, and even more so when their eyes land on Jasperkit. Oh. It seems like she's just been a little bit clumsy, not actually hurt.

Strawberrykit pads over to encourage the other kit to try again, and Pricklekit calls out their own suggestion in the meantime. "Try faster," they say, their head tipping to one side. Behind fluffy fur, green eyes are trained on the perch the others are attempting to scale—its apex seems just out of reach for any kit, but maybe Jasperkit and Strawberrykit can manage to reach the top together. Then they could be Jasperstar or Strawberrystar, the new leader (or leaders) of RiverClan. Not that Pricklekit would want to see anybody lead the clan besides Pikestar… but it could be fun to pretend. "M'ybe stacking would help, too." With this suggestion they cast a glance toward Wavesong—she's taller than the rest of them, could she give them a boost up onto the perch? It's worth a try, if the warrior is willing to help.

PENNED BY PLOT

Dawnkit is hardly old enough to be toddling outside of the nursery, but that doesn't stop the little tom from taking determined strides forward, leaning on Wavesong when he felt himself begin to sway. His long white fur fluffed out in odd angles, and kitten-blue eyes blinked owlishly as he watched the other kits tumble about by the perch.

"I play too?" he asked, looking up at Wavesong. "Wanna play too!" All the kits in the den, aside from Bravekit, were older than him, and they all got to do fun things so often! Maybe they would let him play with them today?

Wavesong watched the kits at play, a soft smile tugging at her muzzle, her ear twitching as Pricklekit babbled about stacking up. Those clever little eyes darted toward her, full of mischief, and she couldn't help but return a wide, bared grin, sea-blue eyes sparkling. If the kit wanted her help, they'd have to ask for it, she wasn't handing everything on a silver platter, not just yet. A soft thump drew her attention, a tiny figure had tumbled into her side. A gentle purr rumbled in her chest as she leaned down, steadying young Dawnkit.

" Easy, ye lil' shrimp.. " she murmured, nudging the small body upright with a careful paw. " Aye, ye can play too, sweet thing. " She cast a warm glance toward the other three kits. " But ye can't climb th' mountain jus' yet, luv. " she added, gently booping Dawnkit's nose with her pawpad. Then, a twinkle sparked in her eyes as she reached beside her. " However... If ye want... " Slowly, she pulled out a large, crunchy leaf, holding it just out of reach. " I have here a crinkly leaf tha' needs more crunchin' up! Jus' th'correct crunch now too! "

Her smile widened as she watched Dawnkit. She knew that the smallest games often brought the biggest joys.

Cloudkit
status: calm, tired
The kits are energetic today it seems. Jasper tries to scale the stump and the others nearly follow suit. She doesn't though. No Cloud decides to sit and watch, content in her little shaded patch as she watches the other kits try again and again to climb the stump. Maybe they'll make it on one of the tries. She wishes them luck though for sure. She angles one ear towards the chirping of little Dawnkit and Wavesong who offers a leaf for the much younger kit to crunch. He is far too small to play with the bigger kits so it makes sense. "One day you'll be able to climb the stump too Dawnkit." Her tail twitches. "Even sooner you'll be big enough to play with the other's yea?" She's unsure how old the kit is, or when kits normally are big enough to play. But surely it's getting close to that time right? She can only assume.

A yawn breaks out on her face and she smacks her jaw together as she blinks at the crowd. Cloudkit slowly shifted from her sitting position to a laying position and laid her head on her paws as she continued to observe. "I'll stay here and just watch personally, myself." She was tired and she thinks Jasperkit has more energy than her in general, let alone all the kits combined. Maybe they'd reach their goal before she fell asleep. Or maybe they wouldn't. She'd keep watch either way.

Silverspirit wasn't really sure what sort of impression he made on kits. He was a warrior, and so earned his fair share of questions from inquisitive little minds who were desperate to know what life was like outside of camp, and he was not unduly frightening-looking (at least, he didn't think so). But he knew he had a solemn countenance, a seriousness to his manner that probably didn't endear him to little ones, and he had little experience with caretaking or playing with youngsters. That didn't mean he wasn't fond of them, though; their curious, impetuous attitudes amused him greatly, and he felt he could see RiverClan's future in their shining eyes and clumsy paws. The slender silver tabby trotted into camp and deposited a trout on the pile with a sense of satisfaction; it was a good catch that had taken him quite some time to secure. He settled into a sitting position and began to groom the cold water from his forelegs, but the sound of kits' chattering and Wavesong's warm, accented voice brought his attention over to the little group.

A rare smile appeared on Silverspirit's face as his clear green eyes tracked Jasperkit's valiant effort to ascend to Pikestar's perch, whiskers twitching in amusement. Strawberrykit and Pricklekit were soon to become involved in the odd-eyed kit's quest, and even tiny Dawnkit made his toddling way to Wavesong's side. Cloudkit, though, hung back, offering some words of encouragement to Dawnkit but declining to try her hand at climbing the stump. Silverspirit padded a little closer to the group and laid down a few tail-lengths from Cloudkit, curling his striped tail around his body and crossing his forepaws. He glanced at the blue tabby with curiosity, inquiring in his serious way, "Not interested in being Cloudstar today, then?" It felt a little strange for a kit to opt out of playing with their denmates - but, then again, he wasn't any sort of expert on kittens. Cloudkit seemed nearly apprentice-aged, as well - perhaps she simply had lost interest in the games of her younger peers. While waiting for Willowburn's daughter to reply, the silver warrior would call to Jasperkit and company: "I had no idea we had such accomplished kits in our nursery. Pikestar ought to watch out."
