tw for Vague mentions of dog attack/a wound

You've really done it now, Levi thinks to himself as he hurdles across the fence, dog still hot on his heels. He had made an in hindsight highly questionable decision to forgo having to hunt in favor of… borrowing some food from a dog. Although to be fair, the dog was usually leashed to a post or inside, and the fact that it was just running around like a wild animal was a completely unforeseen complication. By the time Levi had hopped down from the fence, the dog was already on him, and though as far as dogs go it was pretty small, so was Levi. The wound it left however… painful. Very painful. Especially when you're also running for your life, as the dog had followed you out of its garden where it's usually tethered by a chain!

Finally, after what feels like hours of running, he spots a road in the distance. Not that he intends on killing the thing, but… if it just so happens to get flattened, well, all the better. Levi makes a sharp right, bee lining for the road. He only lets himself linger for a second before he crosses, just to be sure he doesn't get flattened. He chances a look over his shoulder on the other side and sees the dog barking and pacing angrily on the other side of the road, too afraid to cross. Hah!

He takes a moment to orient himself– where the hell was he? He'd crossed the road before, but never this far from the two leg place he usually haunted. It was… dim, to say the least. And his shoulder continued to ache. He'd need somewhere to rest, to clean the wound… but… ah, to just lay down right here. But no, that dog might change its mind, cross the road, try to find him. The things had the damnedest sense of smell. So he hobbles on, eyes searching for a particularly comfortable looking bush or abandoned hole to crawl into, when suddenly he catches a whiff of the scent markings of cats. Unfamiliar cats. Huh…

Then, suddenly, a rustle in the bushes, a flash of fur. Yep, he thinks again– you've really done it now.

"Listen sweetheart, if you're gonna kill me, could you make it fast? Don't fancy I'll be sticking around for too long with this wound anyway."

—————————————————— 'Till I can't run no more ✦

It was day, and of course Timber was off doing his daily chores. The tom hummed a gentle tune to himself around a mouthful of moss, a sort of skip in his step as he carefully took only small mouthfuls from the places he always perused. Nests only needed to be refreshed, and he learned quickly how slow moss grew back when he had first made a nest with it. The next batch he was looking for was not far from the thunderpath, so it meant he didn't have far to go.

Suddenly he paused, instead dropping the moss he held in his mouth and instead opening his mouth to drink in a new scent. An unfamilar scent, something metallic, something that scared him. Immediately, the tom ducked into the undergrowth he had come from, gold eyes wide as a strange figure stumbled into the clearing he had just been in, eyes looking around intently... almost as if they were looking for someone. Looking for him. Thoroughly put off by the scent of blood, the chocolate tabby began to shuffle backwards from whence he came

Well, until the tom spoke to him.

"I'm sorry???" The tom spluttered, head immediately popping up from the top of the bush he was hidden in. Warmth erupted across his cheeks, though from embarrassment or being flustered, he wasn't sure. "I- You're bleeding-" Timber continued to trip over his words, clumsily pulling himself out of the bush as the branches he had stuck his head through in his shock pulled on his fur. "And- I mean, I'm not planning on killing you or anything. And I sure don't want you to just... die out here or anything." Looking at the wound, Timber could tell it was from some big animal but he wasn't quite sure what. Coyote, maybe? Thankfully, he had gotten away from his close calls during his time alone with only minor scrapes, but it meant he was unfamiliar with the gashes that were left in this poor tom. "And I don't want whatever caused that to come snooping around either..." Timber thought outloud to himself.

After Levi has spoken up, a tom pops out of the bushes, stammering and staring at him wide eyes. Interesting… he's certainly pretty, and he's tall and lithe, pale gold eyes shimmering under the sun. He continues speaking, and Levi listens with his usual intensity, blue eyes locked on the other tom as if to hold him captive there. Seems he wouldn't meet his end just yet.

He sits down on his haunches and tilts his head curiously, a smile playing on his lips– "you're not planning' on killin' me, and you don't want me to die? Well, I must remember to thank my lucky star for sendin' me you…"

And I don't want whatever caused that to come snooping around either...

"Oh, don't worry your pretty head about that," Levi purrs. "I left the bastard on the other side of the road– and I don't fancy he'll be crossing it anytime soon. However, I do need some place to rest tonight… maybe a poppyseed or two to take the edge off. Don't suppose you know a place, sweetheart?"
