tall grass licks at her ankles, and the pollen tickles her nose. swallowpaw traveled through windclan territory before it was even called that, to converse with starclan at the moonstone. she couldn't imagine living in such a wide, open space— fully exposed to the elements and predators, with only thin strands of grass to protect you. the trees in skyclan's territory may not be clustered together, but there is room to hide if you climb fast enough.

eventually, the duo flag down a passing windclan patrol, and meet with the respective healer. "it's nice to meet you, gladebloom... i'm swallowpaw of skyclan, and this is rowanpaw of thunderclan." she gestures shyly to the russet-furred molly next to her. "we have something to ask of you, if that's alright, please, hear us out. the position we carry in our clans is, unique, and... and special... healing our clanmates and communicating with starclan should be treated as scared. it's also difficult, as you can imagine." the fox and hawk attack are two instances where swallowpaw learned a heavy chunk of her skills. without it, she's not sure she could've continued on without tigerfoot. funny how that works.

"rowanpaw and i believe that the medicine cats should help each other whenever possible... with knowledge, herbs, whatever... our plan is to meet every half-moon by the moonstone." swallowpaw shuffles her paws. "we can communicate with starclan there. skyclan has had generations of medicine cats, while yours have not so i am... willing... to-to help. with that."

swallowpaw looks gladebloom in the eyes, searching her expression. "it is up to you, of course... but... consider, please."

Rowanpaw shuffles nervously next to Swallowpaw, made deeply uncomfortable by the lack of trees– she's not used to this much open sky. Especially not during the day. She spent most of the sun's hours with her nose in the herb stores, and only looked up at the sky during the night, when the stars would twinkle down at her gently.

She nods along as Swallowpaw speaks, and once she's finished, adds– "we would need Windclan's blessing, too, to pass through your territory to the moonstone. Whatever we see here… we will not share with our clans. It will be a part of our truce, so to speak. We will share only… only what we learn from Starclan, and what we learn of herbs… I… I do not wish to see any cat die. So I want to learn as much as I can." She hesitates for a moment before continuing again. "I wish that we medicine cats could help all cats, not just our own clan. I do not wish… for war, or for bloodshed. But if it must happen… I want to at least be able to stop the blood. No matter who it is that bleeds."

Gladebloom had been exploring the moors in search of more herbs with Meadowpaw when two familiar scents that she'd grown to know as ThunderClan and SkyClan tickled her nose. Her azure gaze flicks to the young apprentices as they nervously introduce themselves to their respective clans as she dips her head in greeting before speaking up.
"It's nice to meet you two. This is my apprentice, Meadowpaw."
She felt it was unnecessary to introduce herself because it appeared that they already knew her name and that she was WindClan's medicine cat. Instead, she introduced the young calico who was with her. She naturally smiles at the two apprentices' gestures, words, and more because of their inherent timidity, which would lead any onlooker to assume that Gladebloom would devour them both in a single mistake. They continue to stumble over their words, and Glade simply glances at Meadowpaw before putting a paw up to stop them in their tracks as a serious expression can be found on the moor-dwelling medicine cat's features.
"Stop there. I don't need to hear anything else."
Any rightful medicine cat would easily agree with their demands, and the way they acted made it seem as though there were medicine cats selfish enough to disagree.
"Any rightful medicine cat who wishes for the well-being of their clan is always accepted to the moonstone and to my den if they need to be taught something."
The chocolate tabby would respond as her tail gives a flick before continuing.
"Any medicine cat should wish to save someone—anyone—if it's in their power, which is why we were selected by StarClan. Do not belittle yourselves to appease anyone because anyone with a good heart would agree unconditionally to everything you've said."

Her expression is serious, yet her voice is warm with a hint of sternness for the two medicine cat apprentices to understand her words.
"We will meet every half moon at the moonstone, and I hope you two will have more confidence in yourselves and your position. We carry a heavy weight on our shoulders where you have to have patience and confidence in yourself; otherwise, it may mean a death."

The calico poked her pink nose out from behind Gladebloom's flank. She hadn't expected to see anyone else on the moor today—let alone other medicine cats from distant clans she'd only heard of in passing. Her ears angled forward as she listened, first to the pale SkyClan molly—Swallowpaw—and then to the chestnut-furred Rowanpaw from ThunderClan.

They smelled of bitters and florals, like sticky sap and pine and herbs. Somewhat sharp and soft and earthy. Meadowpaw blinked slowly, studying them. They seemed her age, maybe a little older, and they were… beautiful. One pale as down, with soft stripes and gentle flaxen eyes. The other was a rich chestnut with long, flowy fur that caught the wind.

When Gladebloom introduced her, her heart flipped in her chest. She takes a few hobbling steps into the open, tail sweeping over her scarred leg self-consciously. "H-hello… It's very lovely to meet you both." She murmured, heat blooming in her cheeks. Never did she want to hide more than right then.

She felt like a weed in a rose garden, but she chose to have courage. She tilted her ears, listening closely to their proposal. They were just as nervous as she was—but they spoke with purpose too. They seemed to understand the weight of their roles far better than she did. Meadowpaw hadn't been training under Gladebloom long. She was greener than grass, and listening to them now made that very clear. Still, that was okay. No flower bloomed from seed in a fortnight. Meadowpaw took it as a sign that she would just have to work even harder.

The wind stirred the flowers tucked into her tri-colored fur, brushing her flanks with warm breezes. Their words settle into her like a crisp rain, soothing her anxiety to some degree. After learning that there were other clans, she hoped they could work together in some way. That was something that grows closer by the day, especially now with their blood ties to ShadowClan as proof that cooperation was possible.

Her gaze shifted to her mentor. The look shared between them told her everything before the answer was spoken aloud. Everything that was said rang true, and her chest swelled a little with pride to stand at Gladebloom's side. These two would find no prejudice here.

"Gladebloom is right. No burden is meant to be held alone, especially not ours." After watching so many of her family suffer because of the fire and experiencing so much of that for herself… Meadowpaw never wanted anyone else to have to endure that, not if it could be helped. There didn't need to be that much pain... and grief. She knew it wouldn't stop the hurt completely, but surely working with others would save more lives than it would if they stood divided. "We're all still growing and figuring things out. It's pretty impossible to know everything but if we all work together, maybe we can help cover some of those blind spots. I don't think any cat should suffer when there's something we can do about it." A brighter smile bloomed across her face like ivy, curling up into her eyes. "So I really look forward to working with you both."
