He'll learn your face by heart
BUT YOU'LL BE IN BLACK & WHITE IN HIS EYES
This place was deemed safe enough by his father that he found himself wandering just a little ways away from the group of visiting ShadowClanners, violet eyes wide as he struggled to bounce on his already unsteady limbs to see over the tall grass that practically smothered him. His attention was too focused on seeing over the grass he neglected the ground at his feet and a sudden dip in the earth tossed him forward into a hollow burrow where he landed nose first and tail up. Magpiepaw sneezed as his nostrils clogged with grit and debris, head lifted and shaking violently from side to side. The black kitten's paws clambered under him to push him up an he glance around the small hole he had found himself in before attempting to crawl back out to no avail - the effort of lifting himself while he swayed unsteadily from side to side was too much, his back legs didn't want to offer their aid currently and he was left to the whims of his own cumbersome body. With a disgruntled huff his head bobbed as he considered options, settling on the tried and true method of all kits: calling for your parent.
"Papaaaaaaa! Papa, I fell!" Had he wandered too far? Was Sablestar nearby still or would he have to wait forever to see if he could get his wayward limbs to obey him and get himself out?
He settled down slowly to sit, long plume of a tail looping over his paws as he glowered at the ground, violet gaze narrowed - sometimes he wished he could just walk like a normal cat.

In the flick of a feather, he flies to your side

The whole clan thing sounded like the ramblings of a mad cat, but Peafowlpaw went along with it. He played the part, he learned the names, and he got by by simply living life. It wasn't until other clans started emerging that Peafowlpaw began to wonder when he stopped finding this life weird. The ebb and flow of it as natural as the sun setting and the moon rising.
Barn life was so relaxed, would he have gotten bored as he aged and left and bumped into one of these clans instead himself? Would he have winded down and been a lot more lax and lazy? He didn't know about that, but he did know he liked himself now, here. This felt right.

From the blandness of the camp, Peafowlpaw wandered out into the plains with a yawn; turning his attention towards a spot in the distance he'd been keeping a curious golden eye on.
Those outsiders were still here, talking to Dustystar and a few others. He…didn't know how to approach. Maybe he wasn't supposed to? It was awkward. It was new. It was one thing when it was just them, Windclan, but were there rules for talking to other clans? Was it only leaders, or adults who talked to other clans?
Peafowlpaw sat down with a huff, subconsciously hunched forward as he squinted at the group from afar, as if struggling to see them clearly. Itching to know what was going on.
Maybe…maybe he'd ask Nutmegpurr for advice for the next time these cats came along. She'd know. Probably.
Whatever.
His eyes opened and closed slowly as his dark pelt pulled in the soothing warmth of the sun. Thoughts and concerns of how to handle clan politics leaving him in exchange for considerations of a nap.

Instead, the smallest pitch of a cry reached his tall ears, barely audible over the insects buzzing. Peafowlpaw's head lifted, and he searched. Waiting for it to sound again. Waiting for confirmation he wasn't hearing things.
What if one of their kits escaped? Were they old enough for that? Did he want to risk it not being the case? He stood, groaned, and made a quick hustle out into the fields.
A trait he always took for granted was his size. Peafowlpaw steadily outgrew his immediate peers and given another moon, he'd likely meet adults at eye level. He would navigate the fields with ease, but they were still a vast sea and sight of the horizon didn't mean you could see everything beneath it. "I'm comin', I'm comin', shout again, could you?" He called.
…No one was out here searching for a lost kit but him. Who was out here?

At the sound of another yowl, Peafowlpaw would close in, and upon peeking down into the burrow, his triumphant smile faltered. "You're… not one of ours. Who're you?" He was hesitant. A stranger in a non dire situation, for all he could assess. just get out of the hole, idiot "You're the one callin', yeah? You alright?"
