DUNKIT ─── .✦Riverclan | Kit

Dunkit isn't one to wander outside the nursery den, even at three moons old. It's quieter there, calmer with the caregivers and younger kits. More conducive to the quiet contemplation they prefer.

However once Drizzlepaw joined the clan, they were actually eager to get out of their usual routine and say hello to the older tom once more. I haven't seen purr since we crossed the river a while back... Purr was so nice to me. I wanna at least say thank you. I dunno if me n' my littermates would've made it if not for him and Miss Aurora. After pacing around for a few moments, they plucked up the courage to approach Drizzlepaw when purr was alone.

They walked up slowly, trying to keep themselves small and unassuming--definitely not wanting to get attention from anyone else in the clan. "Um... Hi" their voice was quiet, uncertain. But they were determined. "Do... Do you remember me, Drizzlepaw...?"

OOC: @Drizzlepaw it's time!

Drizzlepaw

Drizzlepaw's heart leapt at the sight of Dunkit. They and their siblings were definitely one of the reasons Drizzlepaw was so eager to join RiverClan, though he wasn't sure the kits even remembered purr. They were so small and now surrounded by all these cats, Drizzlepaw was just one of the many faces.

And yet... little Dunkit seemed to want to talk to purr anyway. "Of course I remember you, little one!" Drizzlepaw purred as he touched his nose to the kit's head. "Have you been doing okay in RiverClan? Have you made any friends?" Then, remembering Dunkit's shyness, Drizzlepaw quickly added, "Well, either way, I can be your friend! If you want."

He smiled at the kitten warmly as he sat next to them, tail wrapping around the small form protectivelly. "So, Dunkit. Tell me everything!"

Dunkit smiled--actually smiled! They weren't one to emote much, but knowing that Drizzlepaw remembered them... it was nice. Part of them considered Drizzlepaw to be somewhat of an older sibling, though they had no clue if purr saw them in a similar light. Knowing purr not only remembered them, but were being friendly even now? ... This makes me happy.

"Thank you..!" they purred, leaning into Drizzlepaw slightly as a cold wind blew by. "It's been... nice here. Lotsa things happening; my brother and sister are almost always out and about exploring. I like staying inside best but... Today felt like a good day to walk around a little bit." As they spoke, their muscles relaxed. The anxiety built up before going out of the den melted away as they focused on chatting with Drizzlepaw.

Their voice was still quiet, but became more confident as they spoke. "I'm glad you joined RiverClan too. Do... Do you enjoy it here?"

Drizzlepaw

.

Drizzlepaw felt warmth washing over him at Dunkit's smile - the kitten known for being shy and keeping only to themself, now at Drizzle's paws, smiling and talking. What a wonderful thing, to have the trust of one who seldom gives it.

"I'm glad RiverClan has been treating you well." he purred. "I know the amount of cats can be overwhelming, trust me, but they're nice cats. And they take care of their own."

Drizzlepaw's gaze lifted to look at the camp stretching in front of him - cats working together to fix the dens, to protect them from the colder season approaching, Patrols returning with prey to be shared amongst everyone. Someone talking to the healer, herbs being fetched. A warrior showing their apprentice a hunting crouch.

The cats of RiverClan working together, it filled Drizzlepaw with so much joy he could feel himself starting to tear up. A community - one he was a part of now. One he belonged in.

"Yeah. Yeah I do."

Dunkit followed Drizzlepaw's gaze out towards the rest of the clan. It looked chaotic and overwhelming--but in a purposeful, organized way. They couldn't really understand it, at least not yet. "That's good... I'm glad." they purred absently. "... I'm a little... worried. Growing up. Being an apprentice." It was a quiet confession, but one they still felt comfortable enough admitting. "Is it... a lot? Hard?"

In truth, the thought of being an apprentice crossed their mind often. They knew it was still a few moons away before they'd become come one but...I really don't wanna have to leave the camp all that much. I know I'll need to contribute but... Mnh... They shuffled restlessly as they sat next to Drizzlepaw, their worry shaking their whole body.

Drizzlepaw

.

Drizzlepaw wasn't sure what they could answer the kitten. Was it hard being an apprentice? They hadn't been one long enough to know, nor were they assigned a mentor just yet. They just joined in on a few patrols, but mainly, were just adjusting to clan life for now.

"I'll let you know when I figure that out." the cat spoke at last as he smiled at Dunkit. "But I can tell you the apprentices seem happy, satisfied." Once again, Drizzlepaw's thoughts went back to Thunderpaw, her wild and strong nature, her eagerness to help. Her pride in being a RiverClan apprentice.

And as such, Dunkit seemed to be the exact opposite - anxious, rather staying hidden than out there, with others. It reminded Drizzlepaw of other warriors, like Iciclewish. "But don't worry, little one." the apprentice shuffled closer to the kit. "I'm sure whatever mentor you're assigned will help you figure out what works best for you. And in the meantime, you don't have to worry about a thing."

Perhaps it would be best for Drizzlepaw to ask around, to meet the tamer warriors and suggest to them to try and befriend Dunkit. To get the kitten out of their shell a little bit, to help them see that not everything needed to be scary.

Oh... I probably should've figured purr wouldn't have ha enough time to know that yet... Dunkit lowered their head and stilled themself to lean into Drizzlepaw as well. They were grateful that he was willing to help them when the time comes though. "Thank you... " they hummed, closing their eyes.

"... Um.... in the meantime... would you maybe like to look for shapes in the clouds with me...?" they asked, looking up sheepishly, "Not like... right now if you don't wanna. Just... some time?" Their body began restlessly shifting again, perhaps in anticipation of a no or some other rejection--they wouldn't blame Drizzlepaw for it; apprentices surely have a busy schedule. But hopefully Drizzlepaw might be able to make some time to spend with Dunkit.

Drizzlepaw

For someone so small, Dunkit seemed to be aware of the world more than their peers. Drizzlepaw hoped it would only serve them well and not fuel their anxieties further.

"You know..." Drizzlepaw replied to the kitten's shy question. "I think that cloud looks just like Sapkit, don't you?"

The torbie giggled, looking up at the sky. It was good to just sit with another, not worrying about anything but each other's company and the clouds. "See those clouds further ahead?" he pointed to a cluster of clouds in the distance, darker than those right above the two cats. "They may not look like me, but they sure are almost like me anyway! Soon they shall break and let out the water within - they don't seem thick enough for proper rain, so hopefully, they will only create drizzle."

The young cat smiled to purrself, satisfied with their new name. It felt so much more fitting than Poseidon. One day, purr would have to ask Dunkit how they came to their name as well.
