SABLESTAR
he/him
sixty-two moons
shadowclan leader

The land had warped itself in twisting, writhing shadow's since she had last been here. A simple path in the dim gloom that led her to him had shifted into something more earthly. Dry, dusty soil that collected small clouds at the edge of every step bled into coiling walls of oil and sludge. Somewhere above it melted and broke off into points of towering pines, barren branches looming in jagged apparitions.

There is something distant of decay, here. Snd the familiar path once traveled did not lead to Sablestar this time. Not alive, at least. His body lay in the emptiness from before, a light with no source flickering over top. The flesh of his throat exposed, but no blood pools from the wound. In fact, they unsettling scent does not appear to come from Sablestar's corpse at all, but rather surrounds the entire clearing like a fog.

A small cough would alert Sealdawn to someone behind her, as if materialized straight from the air. If she looked in front of her again, she would see that the corpse was no longer there. "You're here again." Sablestar's voice echoed into the dark mist, tone suspicious. "That's not normally how it goes, lately..." One detail that remained, however, was the gruesome display of injury remained.

Here, again. When Sealdawn opens her eyes she recognizes where she is despite the changes in the landscape. Muck no longer clings to her limbs with each step like last time as the young warrior moves forward, but the eerie silence causes her to drag her paws.

What was the cause of it? This was just a dream, right? Would Sablestar be here again? Why was she dreaming of this place once more? ...What was that up ahead..?

Oh no."SABLESTAR-!" She nearly flinches at how her voice carries and echoes in this strange place, but she ultimately ignores it as she rushes to her fallen leader's side. No blood. No signs of an attacker in this place. Who had done this?

The cough from behind causes her to spin on her heels towards the noise, eyes widening as if she'd seen a ghost- because what else could he be when- blue eyes dart back to where the corpse is- was-- and a small gasp leaves the tabby.

"You..." Her throat feels dry at the tone from the other and for a moment she almost forgets how to speak. Seal stops herself from swallowing while looking at the ugly wound. "You remember when I was here last time..? This is all just a bad dream, isn't it..?" She'd never felt so small under Sablestar's gaze.

Stars, she hoped it was just that. Some bad dream where this particular Sablestar remembered her. How terrible it would be wake up and remember this all. To know it had been real, if only for a moment. When she next laid eyes on her leader would he have a scar like that?

"...I did say before," Her voice is small and unsure, a forepaw drawing circles in the dirt as she spoke. "That if you needed it, I would sit and listen. Even if this is just a dream, I'm here. I'm listening."

The shadowy tendrils that stretch into the murky skies do not react kindly to Sealdawn's voice as they twitch and jerk into awkward angles. It is not glaringly noticeable as they nearly match the shade of earthy browns and onyx, illuminated by the weak glow above. Sablestar's eyes narrowed when Sealdawn did not cower as those within his dreams often did. Where he normally stood in the shadows embrace as he watched himself die and his body decay. Sometimes Dreampaw and Magpiepaw were here, too. Watching, growing larger and stronger as flesh and fur shrank away from bone.

This time, though, Sealdawn obliges his presence. He is not blanketed in the dark cascade but instead exposed right before her eyes, just like before. Even worse, this version of her remembered the last, knew this was a dream. He didn't think she knew when she was just a -paw and he hadn't tasted the fleeting sensations of death. "This is real. You just can't see it when we're awake." Sablestar insisted, looking past her now.

"It was real, and now the memory lives here. Where I saw the past, future, and felt what waited for me. It doesn't scare me anymore..." If this Sealdawn remembered the last dream, she would know. "It changes nothing. You're still a child to the world we wake up in, even all the moons I have spent here have not brought me any wisdom other than how to keep it all from crumbling." And it meant he must be willing to do anything, and sometimes the right time would never fall into place.
