JINGLEMOON
RIVERCLAN | MEDICINE CAT | HE/THEY | 28 MOONS | DINGO |
Ever since Rainpaw's disappearance and the clan's failed attempts at finding her Jinglemoon had busied himself with anything and everything he possibly could. When there was nothing to do he would re-sort the herbs or re-line his nest and the other nests in the medicine den... Except for the one that had been Rainpaw's. Part of him wanted to make it a new fresh nest for when she came back from... Wherever she was now. So it'd be ready for her but the other part of him felt like removing it or changing it would be removing the last part of her that still remained in the medicine den. Letting out a low sigh as he cast a glance to the empty nest he place down the herbs he'd started resorting for the third time today. It was no longer working at keeping his mind off of it all.
He'd admittedly been a little avoidant of Rainpaw's siblings ever since her disappearance as well, both because they reminded him of the missing apprentice but also because a deep feeling of guilt tugged at his heart everytime he saw the two. Galepaw seemed as they always were, unbothered, much like it had been when their mother died but this worried the medicine cat greatly as he was afraid the younger cat was putting up a front to hide from facing their true emotions. Galepaw was also the one who was hardest to avoid... Thunderpaw on the other hand had been pretty obvious and vocal even in her dislike for the blue tabby tom ever since he took Rainpaw on as an apprentice. Likely quite bitter at him for having separated the trio from training together as warrior apprentices. He could understand her dislike for him and for the most part had tried to just give her space and be patient with her as she expressed these emotions.
Ever since Rainpaw went missing though? Of course the apprentices' emotions had practically exploded. Losing her mother the way she had and now this? It was easier to blame somebody else, it gave one something to focus all those difficult and ugly feelings towards and in a way? He blamed himself too. Maybe he really shouldn't have picked her as the medicine cat apprentice. Maybe she had become too overwhelmed by it all and didn't feel as though she could tell anyone about that. Maybe he should have been a better teacher. Maybe he shouldn't have picked an apprentice at all. But it was too late for all that now, Rainpaw wasn't here and these thoughts wouldn't magically bring her back.
Her siblings though were still here and he didn't want Thunderpaw to feel discouraged from approaching him if she needed medical help out of spite towards him. He also didn't want the apprentice to go and get herself hurt in going out to try and look for Rainpaw either. She could dislike him still if she wanted to, especially if it helped her in some way to be angry at him instead of herself or some other cat but Jinglemoon felt it had gotten to a point of concern now and that needed to be mended. But how to approach the apprentice about it?
A good place to start would probably be to try talking to some of the other cats who knew her better, Galepaw was out of the question but maybe her mentor... Russetfall! Surely he could talk to Russet about it. Maybe she too already had concerns of her own about it too? Though he wasn't sure how much Thunderpaw really told her own mentor. Either way it was worth it to at least ask, so he'd pad out of the medicine den in search of the chocolate mackerel tabby. He was pretty certain she'd gone down to the river a little earlier so he'd slink his way out of camp and headed for the border in hopes of finding her.
Sure enough he'd find her sitting alongside the river, fishing if he had to guess-- He felt bad to interrupt her but perhaps he could help with fishing afterwards to make up for it! Or they could fish and talk even-- Did that scare the prey away? He really ought to hunt a bit more often... "Hey Russetfall?" He'd call out as he approached the Life Guard, suddenly feeling a little hot around the ear tips as he realized he wasn't actually sure how to start the conversation... Probably should've thought of that before calling out, mousebrain! "Can I uhhhh- Can I talk to you?" He began, "If you have a moment to spare, it's just about Thunderpaw"
