✪ Align my Heart, my Body, my Mind

indentOnce again, their patrol has lead Dustystar to the Shadowclan border. From the hill where they stand, she can see out past the thunderpath, into the shaded marsh below. The sight makes her wistful. Beyond the stretch of flat, black stone, lies the land of her kin. Dustystar finds herself lagging behind the group, watching the underbrush sway in the humid air.

indent"You all move on ahead." Dustystar calls. "I'll catch up with you soon." Nutmegpurr, Merrystalk, and Scorchpaw have accompanied her on a hunting patrol today. Between the three of them, they've gotten a good stock of mice and voles. They should be heading back to camp shortly. Instead of joining them, Dustystar heads down the slope, towards the border. Even if she doesn't meet anyone there, it will be nice to be just a little closer to her family.

-only @WOLFPACK can respond for now! I'll let everyone else know when it's there turn ^w^-

AND I AM SORRY MY CONSCIENCE CALLED IN SICK AGAIN

______________________________________________________________________

There were some things that would just never change, no matter how much you promised they would. Things that would never truly go away.

Thoughts that turned into actions before they'd even fully been formed, simply because that was nature. Cause and reaction. A mouse steps out of its hole, and an owl swoops down to snag it.

So there was no ceremony in any of it– no war cry or dramatic flourish. Just mud sliding down a monochrome flank and the methodical shifting on weight as Wolfpack waited, half submerged in the rotwater at the base of the hill. The air was thick with the sounds of monsters passing by on the thunderpath behind him and insects buzzing, but it wasn't enough to drown out the sound of Dustystars voice ordering her patrol to go on without her.

He blinked, letting the moment linger as the other cats slipped away and left their leader to gaze out across the thunderpath.

He wondered what she was thinking about. If she was plotting, or admiring, or wondering. None of it really mattered– it wouldn't have changed what he was about to do.

The layer of muck caked into his fur masked both his scent and his coat, turning him into something unrecognizable. A cat, surely, but with no scent or pelt to reference, all she would really see coming was his size.

Bigger than any cat had the right to be.

This wasn't personal. He bore no grudge against Dustystar, didn't even know her well enough to dislike her. But she was a leader, and that meant she had something he didn't. Or at least, she claimed to. All of them did, with that 'star' attached to their name. He'd seen it first hand with Sablestar, had watched the light leave his eyes and then come back– but he wasn't sure if the other leaders were the same.

But he would find out.

As Dusty began her descent down the slope toward the thunderpath, Wolfpack made his move. He knew he wouldn't have long– that he would have to end things quickly before the sound of a scuffle could draw her clanmates near, but he was hoping the road behind him would help cover the noise.

The distance was closed in seconds, a flash of mud-sclicked muscle bursting from the ditch with a low growl that barely registered before impact. He tried to strike her from the side with all the strength he could put behind it, knowing he would only get the one chance. He intended to make the most of it– jaws seeking her neck, claws looking to find purchase in her fur as massive paws tries wrapping around her in to try and drag her down into the muddy ditch alongside the thunderpath.

Farther away from the ears of her clanmates.

If she had favor with gods or spirits like Sable did and Juniperstar claimed to, then let her prove it to him now.
