The walk here is bruised by harsh winds, dampened by recently passed rains. Their pelt bristles against each biting breeze, holding themself tight against it with every meager step; it's a lot harder than they'd thought, based on the joyous chittering of those pretender kittypets, the ones that droned about the wild and exploration and adventure. Apparently they'd found what they wanted recently... something exciting, something unfamiliar. The scent of pine needles and dried prey blood. They wouldn't deny it had summoned up a latent curiosity, an electricity to snap through their limbs as they remembered their age; young and prepared for broader horizons.

They'd traveled further than this anyways, scoured the tall, shifting fields near that ruddy Twoleg structure. They'd found friend... and more well beyond the tall silhouettes of their alleys and gardens... so perhaps it wasn't far-fetched that something else like them could exist in the density of the evergreens. An overwhelming stench halts them in their tracks, taking shelter near a sturdy trunk that could better shield them from the cold. It's a blustering day to be nosy... but it's best to do it now, while their kittens at home are contentedly sleeping and blissfully ignorant to their absence. The bi-color cat takes a seat, licking down a few wily hair along their flank that had become raised and uncouth, lifting their head at the sound of shifting needles against the floor.

"Hey there!" They practically leap back up to their feet, ears sat forward in a gesture of polite focus; they wouldn't deny them their fullest attention given their role as a gossipy guest. "Hope I'm not botherin' ya, promise I'm just here to introduce myself; I usually skirt pretty far around to avoid your scent lines when I pass by this way but.." They clam up as they realize they've probably offered too much of a rambling than any proper greeting. "Name's Eden; some of my neighbors mentioned you guys."

Flowercloud had only just returned to her duties, even if Hawkstar seemed very strict on what Flowercloud could or couldn't do- perhaps it could be considered annoying that Flowercloud chose to let Hawkstar know exactly where she planned to stop then return, but she wanted Hawkstar to know that she could be trusted. That she didn't deserve to lose her position- and that she wouldn't go over Hawkstars head again. That she meant it.

The breeze felt nice against her thick coat. She said she'd simply check the border for newcomers from kittypets, then on the way back hunt if she could. Perhaps her anxiety was too high and she was overthinking every little thing- but Hawkstar did not make that easy for her. Fuck your apology still rung in her ears, causing the molly to lick at her chest in insecurity.

But she had at least been given an apprentice, gently smiling over her shoulder at Fidgetpaw, before continuing. "Can you tell what border were at?" The deputy asked, her voice gentle as she tried to gage where exactly Fidgetpaw was at. She did not want to talk to Redthistle more than she already had. The amber point paused as they pressed past the tree though, maw tugging into a smile.

Sitting at the border was a white and black cat, gentle and soft eyes welcoming Flowercloud to meet their gaze, and so the large molly did. They leaped to their feet, and Flowercloud let a small rumble escape her chest as she neared with the young tom behind her. Their speak rolled into a ramble, and Flower cloud couldn't help but feed into the positivity."Oh hello Eden!" She greeted with a toothy grin. As she neared the border, she moved to sit carefully before wrapping her fluffy tail over her caramel toes. She smelled the scent of the twoleg place, and the scent of milk- yet no kits trailed behind the other, even if Flowercloud would've loved to see them, she couldn't blame them if they didn't want to let their children meet them for the first time. "I am Flowercloud, deputy of Skyclan. I am glad to hear the rumours are spreading- I do know we have opened our borders... So is that why you are here?" She asks gently with a tilt of her head.

@FIDGETPAW!

The long-limbed apprentice held his head high as he padded alongside his mentor. Being under Flowercloud's care had already made a world of difference for Fidgetpaw, who now moved through the pines with a sense of purpose he had rarely shown before. Truthfully, Fidgetpaw couldn't help but feel more confident in the deputy's company. Being around someone so kind, patient, and encouraging made him believe his dreams were truly worth pursuing; she awakened an ambitious side of him that had long lain dormant beneath all of his stutters and stammers. He could finally breathe. He could let himself dream. He could yearn for something greater than this apprenticeship without worrying whether she would belittle him, berate him, or question whether he would even survive.

She believed in him, and he knew it, and for now, that was enough.

"Um..." Fidgetpaw answered, almost absent-mindedly, as his sage-green gaze flickered up to the tree above them. Redthistle had spent so much time overwhelming him with battle techniques that the apprentice never got a full grasp on SkyClan's territory. His face grew warm, but he figured it wouldn't hurt to take a wild guess, considering how clueless he was. "Uh, I think we're near... RiverClan...?" The words squeaked out of him.

Shortly thereafter, Flowercloud approached a black and white cat at the border, and Fidgetpaw trailed close behind. As the pair exchanged pleasantries, the apprentice observed the newcomer with overwhelming curiosity, his gaze locked on their own green eyes, which he found mesmerizing. This stranger smelled of the Twolegplace, but he had never seen them before. Perhaps, he had spent too much time in the warmth of his Twoleg nest to get to know his neighbors. He offered Eden a shy smile. "Hi, I-I'm Fidgetpaw," he piped up, his tone innocent and warm. The apprentice gestured to the red collar snug at his neck while the corners of his mouth curved into a bright, boyish grin. "I used to live with Twolegs... I guess you could say I, uh, heard the rumors, too!"

Tawnybeam does not mean to stalk Flowercloud, he swears. It is entirely coincidental that when the fresh scent of an unfamiliar cat hits his nose, he emerges from the dense lines of trees and ends up standing beside his deputy. His tail flicks in acknowledgement, eyes a lot more focused on the stranger—a kittypet, no doubt. Takes one to know one.

"And I'm Tawnybeam!"
he exclaims, waiting for Flowercloud and Fidgetpaw to finish their introductions first. He is being oh-so polite today. That is precisely why he puts in full effort into not creeping Eden out with the way he stares at them; that certainly wouldn't be done by a tom with manners, after all. Still... they are so open about this entire ordeal, Tawnybeam can't help but get invited. Hawkstar's decision to open their borders for potential newcomers had been a pleasure to his ears. He loves all his Clanmates dearly, of course, but there is a certain comradery that he used to have with daylight warriors. Their company is mellow, familial. He might not be one himself anymore, but that doesn't mean he isn't excited about new prospects.

He shifts his weight on his paws, ever-animated.
"I hope your neighbors have only been saying good things about us?"
His voice rises at the end, indicating his question; not an accusation, nor an interrogation.
