———— I awaken with the thunder, a bold statement to end my slumber. ✦

Froststorm had been lounging that day, Fleapaw was busy elsewhere, and Deadwood had been preoccupied with his apprentice.

So, he decided to wander about the plane of the living. Somehow, his paws led him to the heart of Windclan. He had no qualms with the frankly gentle-seeming clan, though it had quickly become his son's domain, so maybe he had been underestimating the lot of them.

As he strode across the land, his gaze was caught by a… Muddied blur? His eyes narrowed, though,h surprised by the blood staining the mud-caked claws. He had little reason to pursue the figure, but he was much more intrigued to see where they had come from, following the lead of where they had come from.

"Well, well, well… What a sight indeed." His voice was a gurgled rumble as his eyes fell on a sight of a bloodied and muddied molly surrounded by a pair of warriors and some puny little apprentice. He stood amidst them, looking down at the corpse, scoffing. "I hadn't expected warfare to break out so fast, but I'll take a faster downfall if it means you fools do the work for me."

Froststorm pivoted his weight as if he was going to turn and walk off, but his ear flicked, seeing movement from… Ah.

A guttural laugh rumbled from his chest, rivulets of ice-cold water dripping from his nose and maw as he realised what he was witnessing. It had been years since he bore witness to the revival of a leader, so soon had she lost a life, it seemed!

Listening to the gaggle of cats doting on her, Froststorm breathed her name with curiosity. "Dustystar. Hm…"

Like a sickening curiosity, he watched the poor bastard come back to life, not even in death could she get peace. Starclan's cruelty to these cats forcing them to experience the trauma of death over and over. No mortal life could handle it. Froststorm had only died once, and this was what he became. Any leader was destined to lose their damned minds having to experience the sweet release of death only to be dragged to this awful realm again.

He watched her get up, disoriented, and the cats around her panicked. A smile settled upon Froststorm's crooked maw, a thought passing across his mind. The tom decided to leave the cats to pick up the pieces; he needed to be at full strength for the night, his body already aching from hovering about the living.

The night wasn't so young by the time Froststorm finally found Dustystar in his realm. Still curled up, unsuspecting of where she had ended up. It was a gamble to see if she would fall to his offer, but a leader is at her weakest upon the fear of her first death, and it was not an opportunity he would pass up so easily.

He settled on a high rock nearby, watching over her. It was the kindest thing to allow her to rouse in her own time; disorientation and fear would do her no good here, and do him no good for his negotiations.

indentDustystar has trouble sleeping that night. Despite the exhaustion set deep into her bones, she can't manage to settle down. Everytime she closes her eyes, a mud-covered shadow dances behind her eyelids, threatianing once again to tear out her throat and leave her in a roadside ditch. After what seems like hours of tossing and turning, the exhaustion wins out, and Dustystar succumbs to the darkness of slumber.

indentDarkness greets Dustystar, as she has come to expect from her visits to Starclan. Idly, still halfway suspended in sleep, she watches the inky blackness, waiting for it to become alight with stars. Instead, as her eyes adjust to the night, she finds herself in a starless forest, curled up on leaf-litter covered ground. With a renewed sense of urgency, she lifts her heavy head and takes in her surroundings.

indent"This place... Where am I?" Rising from her sleep, Dustystar takes notice of a large stone, not unlike the one from which she holds her meetings. A cat sits atop it, but they're too distant for Dustystar to make out details beyond a grey pelt and a small frame. "Who are you. Did you bring me here?"

He hadn't been the slightest bit surprised to see her face knit in confusion, the dark forest wasn't a particularly comfortable place. Least not to those in their first visit here, Fleafire had reacted fearfully, Jadethorn in an equally aggressive manner, and yet Dustystar seemed the most level-headed of any cat Froststorm had brought along.

It was to his own surprise with how lucid she seemed that it took her barely any time to identify and address him. Not with hostility, but cool and collected. The tom had to smile, she seemed a character indeed.

Frankly, it felt unfair to him to stand above her; if all went well, she would be an equal soon enough. Froststorm hopped from his perch and padded towards the leader, the light fog around the area slowly thickening as he approached. "Rather a surprise to see you so put together, Dustystar, you die to the claws of a stranger and wake up in a place nothing like the stars I'm assured you assumed you would see." His voice a low rumble, crackling like paws atop ice threatening to shatter.

As always, he carefully circled the molly, while there was going to be obvious scarring, Starclan did their one bit of use in keeping her alive. "Now- Where are my manners!" He chuckled, rivulets of water dripping from his chin, the sound of water logging his lungs making the noise muffled almost. "Froststorm, an ancient warrior of a long-gone iterations of your clans. And this-" Froststorm looked about the area, a forlorn look upon his face.
"Is The Place of No Stars, The Dark Forest. We are the ones who Starclan turned their back upon."

His gaze flickered to Dustystar's barely healed injuries, letting out a small sigh as he shook his head. "That." A single, shaking, clawed paw, pointing to the scarring about her neck, before tucking that paw back close to himself. "Is why I have brought you here, Dustystar. What a cruel fate to have lost your first life, to the claws of an intruder and your clanmates hapless to do nothing but watch you claw back to the world of the living." He tutted more to himself, looking out into the forest that surrounded them, nearing a distressed expression lacing his face.

indent'Put together' is an interesting way to describe it. Dustystar had assumed this was another part of Starclan's power, but the stranger claims it's another group alltogether. One opposed to Starclan.

indentShe can hear water gurgle in the stranger's lungs as he speaks. It makes her skin crawl.

indentThe strange cat, Froststorm, tells her that her fate is what's brought her here. "Has Starclan turned their backs on me, aswell, then?" The question burns her throat, although she already knows the likely answer. "Would they really grant me such a burden, then leave me?" Here, without her clan to look upon her, she seems smaller. Confused, scared, crushed by her responsibility. She looks at Froststorm, almost kit-like, eyes pleading for answers.
