Lightning's Grasp stretched it's pointed limbs toward the swirling skies, treebark dull and outstretched branches barren of any greenery. A rather haunting look when cast across a troubled sky. Fujimoto looked up at the reaching coils and tried not to feel so... creeped out.

"It's... nice to h-have-have you back." Fujimoto meowed as he tore away from the tree to look at his fellow Sun Guard. "I always thought th-that Haww-Hawkstar uh, made a mistake. You know, t-taking you off." Their words lower, careful- it was hardly a myth that the King could hear everything across the forest. But there is genuine relief in his expression. Having Flowercloud return as deputy, and no longer the sole Sun Guard to be teamed against by their leader and Stormcrow... their ranks felt fuller now. Secured.

"I, uh... well, I h-hope I've done a good job... f-filling in for you." Duskpool always seemed to know the answer for everything, even as Hawkstar threw him and Mousefang out of the council. Like he knew the sun would still rise despite all the sudden change, where Fuji easily convinced himself the world just might end.

@DUSKPOOL

DUSKPOOL
Paddin' alongside the other, Duskpool quietly observed their surroundings with a deadpan curiosity. It ain't nothin' like the dry stone twistin' high above their heads, riddled with festerin' rats. A far better outcome, Duskpool ought to reckon. Plenty of prey. Trees above their heads. Their questionable neighbors, but it ain't to say SkyClan was normal. Far from it. Reckon Hawkstar and the lot of 'em made sure of that.

Liquid amber snapped to Fujimoto, chest rumblin' in acknowledgement. He ain't sure he wanted to return, but it was now or never, and Duskpool ought to do what he always did best: get up and plow ahead with gritted teeth. A hard brow raised in surprise, not quite expectin' the comment, nonetheless, chuffin' in response, scarred lips quirked in bittersweetness. He ain't afraid of most things, and Hawkstar ain't one of 'em, not while he's met monsters from the darkest pits of hell, though he'd reckon that list was bound to change like the twistin' streams cuttin' through their territory to the deep gorge roarin' beneath their calloused feet.

"Can't get angry with her when she wanted to start anew." He stated at last, breathin' wearily. "Though I reckon it hadn't come as a surprise." He huffed, shakin' a bulky helm. "She's a hot-headed cat, I'll give her that." Despite everythin', Hawkstar at the qualities of a leader, but with enough guidance, if the one-eyed leader was willin' to learn and accept the guidance given to her, SkyClan might survive to see the next few moons. His head tilted, watchin' the sky with a narrowed optic, takin' note of its blue hue beamin' down on the lot of 'em. "Though I've done my duty leadin' the old, reckon it was about time to start fresh." He grunted with a deadpan drawl. "Suppose it was time I started helpin' the new." He snorted.

Listenin' to the other, Duskpool would attempt to slap Fujimori upside the head, albeit gentle enough that it was nothin' more than a light bop. "Enough of that, ya hear? Can smell the self-deprication from a mile away." The Sun Guard had done more than enough, bein' the first of many, after all, it was no strange feat. "Ya did just fine, kiddo. Might need to get ya a backbone, but now that I'm back, I'd reckon I'm more willin' to hear things out." He chuffed lowly, liquid amber crinklin' in muted amusement. "Can't go sellin' yerself short, kid. Reckon bein' the first Sun Guard in our new start ought to be a feat. Hawkstar saw somethin' in ya."

  • DUSKPOOL he/him a storm carved in flesh and smoke, duskpool towers with the bulk of a maine coon and norwegin forest cat. his wooly black pelt bristles with ghost-stripes and scars—old wounds etched like lightning through dusk. one copper eye burns like molten steel and the other a mangled ruin of war. every step is heavy, thunderous—war-born, death-burdened, and unflinchingly alive.

Of course Duskpool remained respectful and wise regarding Hawkstar's judgement, just as he would expect. Fujimoto saw in the older tom what everything a Clan cat would aim to be. A diligent soldier that maintained the code and laws of the Clan while not remaining so stuck in tradition. The Sun Guard wished he could see himself like that in his future, as unlikely as it seemed now. "That is t-tr-true... maybe the council could-could use some, uh, vital mentorship in the rank." The striped tom nodded slowly.

He didn't anticipate the paw that struck the curve of his head and yelped in surprise- not pain- and jumped a short way from the other. "Wh-w-wh-wha...!" Fuji sputtered out as he looked at Duskpool with wide eyes. "It-it wasn't easy. Is... is all I'm saying." Fuji stumbled through a weak recovery, trying to regain control in the rapid beat of his heart.

"I-I-I don't know... maybe. It's hard to-to see that... when, uh, she just l-looks at me like... like this." Fujimoto faced Duskpool to imitate the telltale scowl that wore their leaders maw so often. They weren't able to hold it for very long, however, unable to take it too seriously. "I g-guess it should b-be something, um, mean-meaningful, though. The f-first of her g-guard. Nothing can, uh, change that!"
