It has been 100 or more years since then, the clans of the forest are but distant memories to any cats still alive, stories passed down to kits of strangely named wild warriors and leaders with nine lives but the time of the clans is upon us once more and the stars shine yet again.

Wolf had never spent any significant time with other groups outside of the colony. He hadn't seen the point. He was a capable and resilient cat who'd never had much of a problem looking after himself, and even now that remained true. His willingness to adapt and to put himself first had always served him well, and it still did, leaving his coat with a healthy shine and his body filled out with muscle mass that hadn't deteriorated despite the prey shortage.
And now, cats like Bramble knew why.
"How long do you think it will take for the others to swallow their pride and come with us?" he asked, pausing to tear another strip of meat from bird he'd plucked bare, it's feathers tucked neatly beneath a large stone so they didn't blow away on him. He'd be adding them to his nest later, after all. "Or do you think they'll keep hunting this place until cats start dying?" he added, almost as an afterthought– not entirely concerned either way.
