Stumbling into camp, he swiped a shaky paw across his face, trying to rid himself of the blood. He looked a mess… both of them did. Blinking rapidly, he scanned the surroundings, unsure where to start. His body throbbed with pain from a dozen scratches and bruises. The claw to his neck burned the most, tearing through fur, slick with blood. There was a gash near his left eye, and the bruises along his limbs reminded him how massive his father had been. He was lucky to be breathing.
Not like you could say the same for your father, huh?
He shook his head, regretting the thought instantly, and swayed for a moment. The urge to hide in his nest, to escape prying eyes, was strong but he couldn't. He needed to explain himself. Juniperstar… Loonstar… they needed to understand. He hadn't killed the ShadowClan warrior. He hadn't… the monster had.
Still, he had been the one in combat with the massive tom…
His golden eyes flicked toward Dewshine. Rowanpaw had to check on her, make sure she was okay. Make sure the kits were safe. His chest tightened with worry as he lifted his head, struggling to stay steady. " Rowanpaw… Is she in camp? Or… " His voice trembled. Who else... Serpentberry was gone. Rowanpaw needed to see Dewshine… to make sure she was alright. His gaze darted around the clearing. Where was their leader? He had to get this over with. He had to explain.
" Anyone…? "
