{$title} wave heard a rumour of a kittypet about treasure and is deciding to follow this rumour to treasure!
The ocean is in my soul,
And it's pulling me back to shore.
I'm letting go of the weight that's dragging me down.

Curiosity had always been a dangerous companion of hers, it led her far from the sea, into the rivers, into the hearts of cats she loved... And into trouble just as often. So when a pair of chatty kittypets whispered about treasure buried deep in an old graveyard, well... How could she not look? " Treasure? In a box meant fer bones? Now ain't that a story waitin' t'be proved a lie. " Wavesong muttered under her breath, though her tail swayed with excited, kittenish flicks she couldn't suppress.

The twilight air clung cold to her whiskers as she padded up between 'stones' marked with strange twoleg scratches. Flickering shadows danced along mossy names she could not read. The ground smelled... Frankly very much not like a place where the dead were buried... But still... Maybe there were. Or maybe it were just ghost stories kittypets spoke of to one another. " A'ight, ye old lump o' stone. Show me yer secrets. "

She started digging, steady paws, breath puffing fog as she worked. Clumps of damp earth flew behind her, tail wagging like a fish caught in a wave.

Apparently there's treasure hidden in one of the graves, or so you've been told by one of the kittypets. When you ask what it could be, you're given no answer. Will you dig?
NOTE: can use a dice if you want to see if there's actually anything. Either you've been tricked into wasting your time digging through fake graves, or be given a treat for doing so. The treat can be an accessory (shiny necklace or eyepatch, etc).

Kuhli followed Wavesong, not really out of curiosity, but of need to watch over the cat, were something to happen. And with her whole plan being digging up a grave... something was sure to go wrong. The ringed cat watched as Wavesong looked for the perfect place to dig into the soft dirt.

If Kuhli was being honest, this place gave them the creeps - stones with strange markings on them, unnaturally erected from the ground, some in weird crossed shapes and others fallen down. And beneath the marked dirt should be boxes? Filled with the remains of the dead? How was digging that up any good?

"Are you... are you sure this is a good idea?" they asked Wavesong. "I mean, what if we disturb the dead?" Kuhli didn't even want to think about being an accomplice in something like this - would they be haunted by the dead too, if they stood by? Even if they weren't the one digging?

"Is this worth whatever treasure may lie beneath?"

The medicine cat's breath came in quick bouts and looked like little clouds of puffed fog that wisped away steadily in the heavy air. "And you said these kittypets mentioned there being treasure buried here? Is that right? Jinglemoon wanted to entertain Wavesong's curiosity with finding this treasure but... In a place like this? An old graveyard of all places? He sure hoped whatever treasure it was would be well worth it... If there even was any treasure at all. With the way Wavesong muttered under her breath it seemed she too was having doubts about it being true too.

The blue tabby tom's whiskers would twitch uneasily as the cats reached the stones with twoleg scribbles engraved on their faces. They couldn't read the scratches but he was sure they meant something to housefolk. His tail twitched as he looked between Wavesong, Kuhli, the headstones and then back over their shoulder as if expecting something else to appear once Wavesong started digging. Un-burying the dead felt forbidden... Regardless of if the dead was a cat or not but were these even real gravestones? Where the kittypets even being truthful in what they had whispered? He found himself stuck between his curiosity and the anxious gnawing feeling that came with digging up what could potentially be the dead.

His blue eyes danced around the area they were in as if searching for any wispy pelts among all the fog, if it was a twoleg burial place would he be able to see their spirits too? Surely not... Kuhli also seemed unsure of this whole adventure asking Wavesong if she was sure this was a good idea. "Did they mention what the treasure might even be?" He supposed that ruined the surprise of treasure though so it was unlikely they had mentioned it.

"How do we know we're digging at the right spot...?" If they had to dig up each grave just to find the treasure, they'd assuredly be here all night!

" Well... " Wavesong murmured, poking her head up from the shallow hole she'd been digging. Soil clung stubbornly to her whiskers and speckled her bi-coloured fur. She paused long enough to glance at Kuhli, blue eyes narrowing in thought. " ... Y'know, I getcha... " she admitted with a low chuckle, flicking her tail as she sniffed at the disturbed earth again. The scent wasn't what she expected, no lingering trace of old bones or the sad sourness of a burial ground. Her gaze shifted toward the kittypet who had whispered of buried treasure, the one giggling behind his paw like this was the funniest thing in the world.

" Hmm... " Her voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper as she leaned close to Kuhli and Jinglemoon. " I don' think this is a graveyard at all. " Her whiskers twitched with amusement. " I think that fella's been pullin' me tail. " A playful spark ignited in her eyes as she pawed at her chest fur and produced a tiny glimmering object she had found while digging, gleaming, certainly useless, but undeniably pretty. " Bet he thinks we're as gullible as a barnacle stuck on driftwood... " she muttered, chuckling mostly to herself.

" But... " she continued with a toothy grin. " I'm thinkin' we turn th'tide on 'im. Mess with th' prankster right back. " She winked, tail swishing with bubbling mischief. " Let's make him believe we found somethin' truly spectacular, aye? "

The digging turned up nothing, of course, but Kuhli wasn't yet convinced they hadn't disturbed the dead anyway... That was, until Wavesong revealed this place never held any in the first place. "Why would they make something like that up?" Kuhli didn't understand.

But Wavesong's cheeky idea made Kuhli's lips curl upward in a smile, as she took out something shiny that glinted in the light. "Ooooh..." they hummed, nodding. "That could work! You lay it down while I go over here to investigate." Kuhli said conspiringly.

They padded to another stone covered with strange markings, which still gave them the creeps, and acted very interesting in the lines on the stone. They hummed and investigated, as if any of that was making any sense to them, they clawed at the dirt for a while, before finally declaring, "I don't think the treasure is in this one. What have you got over there?"

Like Wavesong he was told of some sort of treasure in the graveyard area. When he asked where he should dig, he wasn't given an answer. He supposed it made sense, given the fact that it was a treasure. If he was in the same position, he would be hiding away his most precious rocks and seashells. Whoever wanted them would have to work hard for them. If he was unwilling to give them up in life, then in death he would put up a fight.

Anyway, the conversation between Jinglemoon and Wavesong was tuned out as his paws dug into earth. He decided to dig a tail length away from his sibling, ear flicking at the sound of their voice.
"For fun? I make up some stuff for fun."
What? Just because he was leader didn't mean he had to tell the truth all the time. Although the fun he's talking about is in regards to the kits. Wavesong herself witnessed one of his many lies during a little scuffle between two kits. She later told him that it was better to be honest about another warrior throwing out the well worn (and very loved) moss ball of the kits. He had lied and said that it was he who throw it out by accident. It resulted in the kits batting at him, trying to take down the big meanie. Of course, little paws didn't hurt too bad. What he struggled most was chuffing. At least... For awhile. When Piranhakit bit his tail, he yowled. Wavesong laughed at him then, as if to say he had himself to blame for this.

Nothing in this one. With a sigh, he goes over to another grave. Before he digs he listens to Wavesong's desire to get back at the cat who was probably watching them dig up a few graves already. However, his gaze is drawn to the shiny object in her grasp.
"Ooo,"
he hums in time with Kuhli. The quick realization that he had a similar reaction to his sibling causes him to turn to them. Green eyes blink. He shakes his head and decides to go back to digging.

As his paws shift through dirt, he sees something odd. It looks like some kind of worm? At least, from what he can tell so far. Slowly he pulls the strange worm out, bit by bit the dirt falls to the side, and it slowly dawns on him that this is no worm. What is this? This can't be a treasure. It's when he raises his paw that he notes the fang attached to no worm, but string.
"I..."
The memory of a certain brown tom comes to mind. Of his face. Of his confession of being a little petty naming him. However, he must confess that he found himself looking at that one fang peeking out. Why? He wasn't sure. Even now, he's unsure why is it that he always thinks of Adder's fang first?

Said tom was somewhere. I wonder if you're okay? They'll probably yell at me if they knew I miss you. After all, you killed me. You left me with no answers. I wonder... I know you would be happy that Wavesong and your kits are doing better. What about learning I've been doing better? He shakes his head.
"I don't think this is the treasure they're talking about,"
he mews while putting on the fang necklace. If his paw lingers on the fang, only Kuhli would remain clueless as to why. Neither Wavesong or Jinglemoon would bring up him at a time like this.
"I like it though, so I'll keep it."
Maybe I should've given you something. I never gave you anything. Maybe if I did... No, that's wishful thinking.

" Aye, tha' sounds like a plan. " purred the bi-coloured queen with a wink, glancing at Kuhli before letting her gaze drift to Pikestar, offering a beaming smile. " Aye, we do. What's life without a bit o' imagination, hm? " she meowed, tucking the shiny object back into her fur. As Kuhli moved to another spot to begin pretend digging and Pikestar busied himself at his own, Wavesong dove straight back into her patch of earth, claws scraping over the soil. She carefully placed the shiny thing down, lifting her head briefly to check on Kuhli and Pikestar and then... Froze.

Pikestar held up a fang, sliding it over his head to hang as a necklace. Something twisted in Wavesong's chest, a sharp pang of longing and loss that made her heart stutter. Her throat tightened, and for a heartbeat she felt the weight of everything she had lost, the mate she barely saw, the kits she feared for, the life she had imagined but would never have. She could almost feel Adder's presence in the memory of the shipyard, and yet, it was always just out of reach. She could almost imagine a life where she rested beside her mate with him rolling his eyes with a shadow of a smile whilst Pikestar was rambling a story... Almost... But always out of reach. Her claws dug into the earth as a shiver ran down her spine. Why did the sight of Pikestar's treasure stir her so? Why did it make her think of the things she could never reclaim? The ache of absence, the relentless gnawing worry over her youngest, Troutkit... Her heart clenched at the thought of losing another kit to the cruelty of fate. Stars above, please... not him, not yet.

But she pushed the pain down, forcing her face into a bright grin as Kuhli called to her. The playful mask had to return; the treasure hunt was not for tears. She poked her dirt-smeared head out of the hole, forcing her voice light. " Oh! I found a treasure! " she cried, holding up the shiny ring so it caught the light. Her blue eyes sparkled, though a tremor lingered behind them, betraying the storm she hid within.

The campground kitty's eyes went wide. " W-w-what?! I mean... WOW! That's... Uh… So... So good... Uh... "

" I believe ye owe me a mouse, pookie. " meowed Wavesong with a wink, teasing him, though inside she felt torn, joy and grief tangled together like a coil in her chest. The treasure was real, yes, but the longing, the memories, the what could have been... Those were the true gems she carried in her heart.
