TORRENT
༄.°
☀︎ Torrent's head turned swiftly towards Adder as he began speaking, a chocolate tabby who he had yet to see before today. Torrent couldn't help his gaze from travelling across the tom's pelt, as it was covered in scars that had since healed, showing experience that Torrent could not begin to imagine. He had never gained a wound greater than a scrape from climbing wreckage or a snagged claw or ear. Regardless, Torrent felt respect for the stranger, even if the words he spoke made his stomach burn.
Of course he knew it wasn't a game, but Torrent was desperate to help his found family and prove himself to be useful. He wasn't there when the shed had collapsed, so this could be his chance. He was eager to be relied on, eager to learn from the more experienced and find what home lied beyond the Shipyard. Torrent clenched his jaw as the tom finished--the thought of missing out made him work his claws in and out of the ground beneath him. If only they knew how much he would give this journey his all.
Torrent's ears swiveled to the side at Pine's meow, his stubborn gaze following quickly after. He quickly parted his jaws to retort, but Pine cut him off before he could get a word out. Torrent's stance remained defiant as he spoke on, but it was only when he mentioned Squid, and being useful if he stayed behind did his body seem to relax and his eyes soften in thought. He looked around, realization hitting him like a strong ocean wave. He thought back to the kit Pine had saved and brought to their shelter, and the two other kit's Brook had had with her. And Pine's own wounds--surely there were more wounded cats and kits that would need help traveling.
A new goal seemed to unfold in his heart, exciting him just as much as the scouting patrol. He would stay, and help as many cats as he could with Pine, Smoke, and Squid. Maybe then he could prove that he was capable of the more dangerous missions--the young tom didn't plan on sparing any effort.

"Okay."
Torrent began, nodding towards Pine. "I'll stay, and help the best I can."
