—————————————— Dreaming along in a pace you'll understand. ✦

When the time came that he needed to pry his behind from his nest and round up his patrol to head to Fourtrees, Merry was already exhausted at the idea of dealing with Sassafras for any period of time. He was forever grateful Hollowmumble would be there lest he lost his shit at the other tome again, and while he and Roostertuft didn't exactly get along, the tom had sense in him so would hopefully get Sass to shut his mouth if he started trying to aggravate the tortoiseshell.

Fourtrees was mostly uneventful when he got sent out here, and he sorta hoped it wouldn't be. A stifling silence filled the air as the patrol walked through the moors towards the towering trees where the territories all intersected. It was nearly suffocating, where Merry usually filled the quiet with idle chatter with his clanmates or checking in on the apprentices, there was no such discussion between the cats.

As the huddle of cats made it into the vast clearing, the gale guard turned to his patrolmates with a watery smile. "This won't take too long, just check the borders 'nd make sure nothin' is wrong 'nd nothin' 'r no one's been left 'round here." After Dustystar came home with little Branchkit, Merry had been antsy at the idea of any other kittens being abandoned with the cold months approaching rapidly, or even the family of that litter in search of their kittens.

He shook the thought from his mind. Branchkit and the other four kits were safe in their own clans now; that's all that matters. The gale guard did his duty of scanning the area, but before the patrol could get too far, the tortoiseshell let out a noise of horror as something sticky underpaw. "What the fuck..." He muttered to himself, before craning his head up and ending up rather surprised. "Aye, there's a bee's nest- Damned things leaking though." He padded backwards, expression scrunched up as debris stuck to the underside of his paw where the slowly leaking honey had now stuck to his paw pad.

A hum reverberated from the back of his throat as he stared up at the thing; it seemed to have been damaged, perhaps by a bird or something of the like. There seemed to still be some bees nearby, but with the hole in the side, he wasn't so sure if the majority of the swarm was about or if they were inside trying to repair the thing. "Say, d'y'all think we could get honey from that thing, I know Dimming 'nd Meadow would make good use 've it fer folks-" He sat back on his haunches, still grimacing at the stickiness in his paws, cleaning it absently as he adressed the patrol. It really was good, sweet and sticky, really fucking sticky. "- 'r if not I know the kittens would enjoy a treat like that."

  • Patrol tiiiime @Hollowmumble @sassafraschill @ROOSTERTUFT @gorsepaw

Prompt: The patrol finds a beehive! Honey would be useful for the medicine cats and perhaps a little treat for the kittens, but it's always dangerous to try to get any. If your cat is up to the challenge, try to get the nest down without getting hurt! Either talk with your fellow patrolling cats for a plan or roll a d20 for success if you plan to rush ahead and try yourself!

Hollowmumble couldn't wait to be back in her warm, quiet nest away from whatever mess this patrol was going to turn into.

The quiet tension of Sassafrasschill and Merrystalk forced to walk the same patrol made her paws prick with nervousness, not looking forward to any further fights that might reignite between the two of them. God knows last time went well enough. So, she chose to stray behind, taking up the flank of the small group of cat and keeping her distance as they padded through the territory. When they finally reached the fourtrees, she was glad for the chance for everyone to seperate a little, wandering around the large clearing and smelling the area, keeping a watchful eye out for anything or any other cat that might present as a danger.

Her ears perked up at Merry's quiet curse, and she watched from afar as he struggled with his sticky paws, mildly entertained. Head craning up slowly to squint up at the beehive, high above them all, far too high. It probably would make good use for Meadowpaw and Dimmingsun... she knew they would probably be thankful for it, back at camp, if they managed to collect some. The only question was how they would go about transporting something like that all the way across the territory. They would probably lose it all before they got there, and it wasn't like water, it wouldn't soak into moss... probably? But it was too liquidy to just carry it back like a plant.

"...Maybe it's not a good idea, it's up awful high. Wouldn't want to fall."
