Welcome to ShadowClan's assignment hub! Here will be our headquarters for all things "mentorship", with the main priority being pair assignments. See below for additional information and services.

Characters will randomly be assigned by Sablestar without confirmation of the pair unless otherwise requested. If you are hoping for a specific pairing, please let gonkpilled know through the discord!

  • In order for your character to be eligible for a non-NPC mentor or apprentice, please fill out the form below to be matched to a played character.

  • MARBLESHINE — marbleshine will be super supportive and perhaps find it a bit difficult to be strict with her apprentice. she will try her best to cheer them on and assure they get taught that strength isn't everything. she will try to show them to be strong in more ways than one. she will probably have a hard time and stretch herself thin trying to be everywhere at the same time. i imagine the apprentice given to marble will either love her or hate her ; high activity

NETTLEFROST — nettlefrost is blind and still learning the new camp & territory. nonetheless, his hearing is heightened due to his lifetime blindness, which makes him a fairly decent hunter. he'll likely focus on hunting when it comes to training. In terms of combat, his large size makes him a deadly grappler, but his inability to see oncoming attacks often leads to failures in battle. apprentices that train under him may end up lacking in combat skills as a result ; casual activity

GROTTOWATCHER — grottowatcher is an encouraging and patient mentor, focusing on his apprentices' interests and strong points to help them learn more efficiently. he values independence and encourages his apprentices to be self-sufficient, though he still lends a paw when they need it. every training session will be a lesson in itself that goes beyond hunting and fighting, rather fostering critical thinking and practical solutions for problems on the go. he is not particularly skilled in combat, and relies heavily on pairing with another mentor-apprentice team to do battle training effectively ; flexible-high activity

JADETHORN — she does not want an apprentice, don't give her an apprentice (this is not realistic please give her one). she dislikes kits unless their personality pique her interest (see: fleapaw). she's rude, mean, and would most likely avoid the responsibility of having to have a little one tag along with her. i think the best apprentice choice would be a kit of importance (where she can't shrug responsibility unless she wants to get in *huge* trouble) or a kit that she has already shown interest in (which she might be more involved in). otherwise, she is a great mentor for any kind of 'abandonment' plot if a player wants a mentor that's extremely hands off ; casual-flexible activity
  • TICKPAW — they are very hissy and straight to the point and glare a lot. if he's forced to do things, he will go against the grain ; flexible activity
  • When it comes to assessments, Sablestar loves testing apprentices based on what sparked his separation from the Colony- hunting skills are a priority and fighting skills secondary. A standard assessment looks like an evaluation of one's tracking abilities through the strong smells of the swamp, where an apprentice will be tasked with discovering three warriors (typically their mentor and two trusted warriors) that have masked their scent with mud. Sablestar requires a total of three assessments spaced between one and a half moons to measure the apprentice's progress.

As ShadowClan grows and develops along with Sablestar, assessment styles and their requirements may change in the future.

While it is not required by any means, assessments can be the perfect place for some juicy character development... and a perfect opportunity for Sablestar to choose a warrior's name based on their prowess in skill, attitude, or any remarkable attributes he notices.

Name: Vanilla(paw)
Potential plots for apprenticeship: Im ngl i dont have any off the top of my head 😭
Activity level: high; vanilla is my main
Notes: vanilla is a prickly thing thats almost 100% dedicated to protecting her siblings. she can be vicious when needed; mainly looking for a mentor to hone her as a "blade", someone who will push her (bonus points if training is tough!!!) and will make sure that battling / fighting is her best skill :3c She may get in trouble a few times because sometimes she cannot hold her tongue or shy away from defending her or her siblings honor

Name: Possum[grin]
Experience level: Beginner
Activity level: Very casual
Notes: He will be a very hands off mentor and prefer the apprentice to take the lead. This will also be his first apprentice and he's had minimal experience watching others train younger cats. Will have casual expectations and if they fail he will feel indifferent. If you're looking for kind of a sucky/neglectful mentor he would be the perfect fit! Traits he would pass on would be very negative so he would fit best with someone who is trying to put those traits onto their OC or have a character that actively calls him out for said behavior.

guess who accidentally deleted their mentor form in some kind of sleep haze

Name: Vampire(bite)
Experience level: Skilled
Activity level: High (or planned to be, at least)
Notes: A fairly strict, dedicated mentor with high expectations for their apprentice. This will be Vampire's first time mentoring, so bumps are to be expected; generally, their apprentice can expect to be instilled with a work-forward mindset and an intense dedication to ShadowClan. Training will be tough, and his apprentice can expect to be working a lot of the time; Vampire will bring them everywhere with him, and he keeps long hours. Her primary skills are fighting, tracking cats, and stealth; her apprentice is likely to be proficient in these but lacking in the hunting department unless it occurs to Vampire to outsource it.

Name: Fennnel(paw)
Potential plots for apprenticeship: no big ones!
Activity level: flexible secondary
Notes: fennelpaw will struggle deeply with the desire to be the best. he has extremely high expectations of himself, and of others. he will need a mentor who helps fuel his ambition while also taming back his wilder side.

Name: Wolfpack
Experience level: Skilled
Activity level: Flexible-High. Him and Ghost are tied as my primarys rn.
Notes: Wolf is a savage cat who puts himself and his own before anyone else. Any youth he mentors will likely be passed down a similar mentality, put through rigorous, claws-out training in order to produce the most efficient and ruthless warrior possible. Wolf believes the strong will rule the world and that the weak only exist at their behest, and will be a known codebreaker who openly promotes thievery, murder, and doing whatever it takes to win. Honor, justice, and mercy aren't words you'll find in his vocabulary, and any apprentice assigned to him will have their physical and mental limits tested.

Name: Smudgepaw.
Potential plots for apprenticeship: Nothing big, but I do expect her to change from a bubbly, energetic character, to something a little more...serious? She's not going to be the same.
Activity level: Casual. Smudgepaw is also my only character, so I can be a little bit flexible.
Notes: Smudgepaw is a good hunter, mediocre/average fighter. She's doggedly determined. Relentless, so she isn't a quitter. She's desperate to have her mentor's approval.

Name: Bone
Experience level:
highly skilled
Activity level: flexible/high - will be my main character
Notes: Bone embodies mystery so she will instill in her apprentice to always withhold information about themselves and always dig for it in others. To never ever trust too deeply in others and maintain themselves with dignity. She will always train them strictly especially when it comes to stealth and hunting in the marshes. her main goal will be to prepare them for any situation possible especially those that try to blackmail or use their emotions against them

Potential plots for apprenticeship: maybe a little bit of a blood thirster for a bit... wants to feel powerful where he has otherwise felt out of control in his life. can easily be riled up and antagonized
Activity level: casual- my shadowclan main but im busy elsewhere!
Notes: generally a very witty child with his own motivations and ambitions of power. wants to feel Secure but ultimately can never get comfortable with the calm that comes with peace. SUPER clingy to vanillapaw and fennelpaw since those are his littermates

Name: Daturapaw ( @Daturapaw )
Potential plots for apprenticeship: Would like for her to gradually grow more confident every moon of apprenticeship. Otherwise I'm leaving it up to IC circumstances!
Activity level: she's my secondary character so the aim is for flexible activity levels (hopefully)
Notes: A timid but judgmental apprentice, is pretty snappy but then will immediately try to blend into the background afterwards. Struggles with not feeling good enough to help bring ShadowClan to being a successful clan. Pessimistic but quiet about that.

Name: Halfshade
Experience level: Highly Skilled
Activity level: Flexible / Secondary ShadowClanner
Notes: Halfshade has a confidence that is hard to miss, a perfectionist in the way she holds herself and those around her and she expects the best you can give; while not necessarily pushing anyone beyond their limits. She has the patience to handle difficult younger cats but the no-nonsense demeanor to know when to shut it down and be more firm - she is a mother, after all. Halfy is understanding with a fondness for the youth but little tolerance for those her own age who act out of line, she sees strength in more than just the normalcy of fighting and hunting and would work to improve upon already existing skills over pushing to learn something else.

Name: Pepperpaw
Potential plots for apprenticeship: my mind is blank rn
Activity level: flexible
Notes: Pepper is a feisty young lady, who will put her mentor to the test most likely. She is a good hunter, but maybe a tiny bit arrogant too, she doesn't feel like she needs someone to teach her stuff

proficient
Activity level: flexible !
Notes: geckoflame is a mentor who does everything with precision and perfection and will not settle for anything less when it comes to training. she believes that wit is far more important than brute strength so a good amount of her lessons will center around deception, strategy, and outsmarting their opponents, ensuring that her apprentice learns to stay one step ahead in any situation. anyone training under her will walk away with quite the silver tongue.

Name: Bluegale ( @bluegale )
Experience level: average
Activity level: flexible - he's my primary shadowclanner but i am a busy girl!
Notes: bluegale is a mentor that likes to show off. he obviously wants his apprentice to succeed or be good, but that's mostly because of his own pride. he's a loudmouth and tends to oversell his skills. he is a fairly proficient fighter, but he lacks strategy and tends to leap headfirst into situations without thinking. he might put an apprentice in danger one or twice (unintentionally, of course), and he tends not to learn from his mistakes.
