Paws kneaded against the fresh green moss, squeezing the rivers spray from the spongey green. Hazecloud had come to the nursery more frequently as of late and not just for the company of her friends kin. The closer the arrival of her kittens came, the more she lingered and pondered over finally taking residence inside. She had been stubborn about leaving Lichentuft's side in the warriors den despite already being relieved of her duties, uncomfortable with the idea of sleeping in an empty nest. She hadn't for too many moons, now, to assume the sudden change.

However, the larger her belly swelled the more clustered the den felt. Too hot, not enough space to move about, and too noisy to get proper rest in some nights. Hazecloud was willing to consider... trying to sleep through a night in the nursery. But she had standards, of course, and she wasn't about to rip away her mates nesting for herself.

"Ah, hey." Hazecloud called after the cat who passed her by. "Do you know where I could find moss that's... dryer? I think I've been squeezing water out of this since dawn."

  a smoky blue molly with warm green eyes. haze is a short and stout molly with a longhaired pelt that is beautifully kept. she is a highly skilled, agile swimmer and fisher with a surprising mischievous streak.

 

[FOXTAIL]

Foxtail enters RiverClan's camp, with a nice looking carp in his jaws. To his surprise, he found himself spending a lot of his time lately at the river. Back at the shipyard he learned how to hunt at the docks, but he never particularly enjoyed the aggressive waters, especially so after his accident. He would've stayed far away from the dock, and the river, if it weren't for the fish that lure him in.

He drops his catch in the freshkill pile, as he isn't hungry at the moment, and starts to pad towards the warrior's den. A quick nap sounds like a fantastic idea, especially as he remembers he found fresh moss before hunting. He had brought it to his den in the morning, before heading out again. It's going to feel so comfortable, and he already feels excited for this nap....

But his ears prick up, as he catches the voice of Hazecloud calling out to him. The life guard comes to a pause in his tracks, looking over at the caregiver.

"O-Oh, hello H-Hazecloud,"

Foxtail greets with a nod. He's noticed how much more swollen her belly looks, and he recalls her still sleeping in the warrior's den with one of her mates. Of course, Foxtail will never experience bearing kits of his own, but he wonders if she decided to move to the nursery after so long.

"....Is t-there something I-I can help you with?"

He blinks as the next words leave her maw, and his olive green eyes glance at the moist moss that lays at her paws. Oh yeah.... that moss looks way too wet to be used in a nest. He looks back up into her warm, tired eyes, and his mind immediately thinks back to the fresh moss he found this morning. It's been shielded from the elements all day....

"...O-Oh! I found some dry moss this morning, that I-I threw into my n-nest,"

Foxtail mews, silently concluding that he doesn't actually need that fresh moss. His nest wasn't on the verge of feeling uncomfortable, and he was sleeping quite well. She sounds like she needs it far more than he does....

"I-I can go grab it for y-you,"

He offers to her, quickly glancing at the warrior's den,

"I don't need it, h-honestly!"

[Frostmoth]

Hazecloud is one of those who, by terrible virtue, Frostmoth does not know anything about other than her name. An unfortunate fact, since she does seem so close to those he does like, but Frostmoth has really just not sought a relationship with the older molly. Still, he has been seeking not to be such a distant cat. Even if the change makes his skin crawl. Stormswirl had been vocal about his need to branch out and be more social, and he's sure that if he talked to Smokewreath and Willowroot they would say the same things about him. And he is already humiliated by this fact alone.

Frostmoth is lingering near Pikestar's den when Hazecloud's voice reaches him. He starts because he somehow thinks she's talking to him, but shamefully realizes that it's Foxtail who's attention she has called to first. Frostmoth rises to his paws to join the pair. Moss. That's an easy enough request. Foxtail beats him to it, though, somehow leaving the deputy feeling inadequate in some completely impersonal way. "Maybe we should be laying some moss out to dry," he pitches the idea aloud to them both "That way nobody has to be wringing out moss for their nests."

Frostmoth rushes to add: "Of course, it'd be quicker if Foxtail just gives you some dry moss now, but for the future, I mean..."
