Rowanpaw isn't used to this. She'd lead a herb patrol before, but her mother had been with her, and this was… different. Very different. She's not just looking for herbs with a few bodyguards, but leading a patrol to assign them work. It felt strange. She didn't even have her full medicine cat name yet.

Thankfully it's a very short walk from camp to their destination, so her leg doesn't have time to act up. She comes to a halt near the edge, eyes catching on the still fresh grave of her mother. She swallows, then turns to the ones who'd come with her.

"As we've established a burial ground for Thunderclan now, we'll need to maintain it… to keep critters out, and scavengers, and to keep the graves looking nice… I can't do it on my own, so I asked Loonstar if it was alright to ask you all for help," she sits down, nervously wrapping her tail around her paws. "You're all the best when it comes to things like this, so I… I ask for your help. I wish for this to be a place where our dead can rest peacefully and where their loved ones can visit them… so please, if you could help me…" she hesitates again, then, "I was thinking of perhaps establishing some sort of perimeter…?"

It comes out perhaps a little more pathetic than she'd wanted, but she feels infinitely small under the gaze of all these warriors and apprentices. She's only an apprentice herself, even if her mentor is gone. She shuffles her paws, looking at the gathered cats, half hope, half anxiety.

BRINDLEFEATHER ──
thunderclan | forager
Brindlefeather pads along after Rowanpaw, occasionally glancing over at his fellow foragers - he's not sure they've ever all been gathered together like this, and that's very exciting to him. Perhaps if this goes well, he could pursue more of these forager-centric patrols later, one that's a bit more light-hearted than this.
Upon reaching the burial grounds, he sits and listens to what Rowanpaw has to say, nodding respectfully.
"I think you are right to ask us for our help, Rowanpaw," he mews, his voice one of comfort and reassurance - the poor girl is visibly nervous about giving orders as a medicine cat despite still being just a 'paw… His eyes momentarily flick to Serpentberry's grave. Oh Serpentberry, why'd you have to leave us so soon? If only he knew the real reason she was gone.

"Establishing a perimeter would be a great first step - I wouldn't necessarily want to use any kind of flowers or other plants we could be using for the graves themselves, though… Perhaps small stones or pebbles would work as a sort of border line. As for grave decorations, I know there's a few different plants that help with the scent of death for keeping critters away… we might still be able to find some lavender in this weather, though I think rosemary would be easier to find. Mint if we're lucky." He turns to the rest of the patrol. "It could also be nice to have an assortment of other flowers or the like to help bring a bit of color to this place, though - any suggestions?" Ever the talkative cat, Brindlefeather is already prattling away about potential herbs and flowers to use as decoration. He hardly wants this place to be barren, after all; this either is or will be the final resting place of cats very dear to them all, and he thinks it poetic and meaningful for it to be full of life.
maybe we'll turn it all around 'cuz it's not too late
