With the loss of Serpentberry fresh in his mind, Asterpaw slips out of camp while everyone seemed to be preoccupied with the return of the body and his auburn eyes had settled on his mother for a fleeting moment knowing that he should be at her side while she takes this loss. And yet, his heart leads his paws astray towards to a promised meeting place where he would see the prettiest molly that he had ever seen in all of his life and the thought of her alone causes his breath to rattle as if he struggles to bring oxygen in his lungs due to how she leaves him breathless. His paws traverse the cool ground and tries to ignore how the cold seems to threaten his ability to breathe, he doesn't care about himself in that moment but instead for the molly that likely awaits for his arrival... it'd be rude not to show up and lend his ears to her just as he promised.

Asterpaw quickens his slow trot into a gait so that he may arrive sooner than he usually did as his sluggish pace and his ears angle forward at the sight of the stones glistening underneath the moonlight, his warm eyes beginning to search for her moonlit drenched pelt, and he comes to a halt when he spots her. He can feel the stutter of his heart and how it seems to flutter much like the butterfly that he had found, the very same wings tucked behind her ears, and his ivory dipped paws move forward. The chocolate tabby almost doesn't stop until the river laps at his paws as if reminding him to not be too eager to meet death once more, a warm smile parting his facial features, and a sniffle slips out from him as the cold air nips at his rosy nose.

His thoughts crash forward like a large body of water and it rests on his tongue as if it were the shore... his mouth opening then closing as he tries not to blurt the first thing that comes from both his mind and heart.

I've missed you... I couldn't wait to see you... It felt like a lifetime... let's meet sooner...

And yet the words that slip out from his jaws tumble without much grace "I h-hope I didn't keep you waiting for too long." His ears press flat against his skull then turns his head towards Sunningrocks and the half-clan prince peers back at his companion, "We could sit there... together... uhm, if you'd like." His mother is the queen of the oak forest and surely, they wouldn't mind if one of their allies crossed the border especially when Asterpaw is only soldifying his friendship further with Lavenderpaw, and well, his mother wouldn't scold him for it... right?

The tabby apprentice gives a wave of his tail as he walks towards the rocks and can't help but feel the way that his skin seems to burn underneath his pelt, oh Starclan, maybe he should've practiced how to climb up the stones before this meeting of theirs. It didn't matter now, he supposes, and the half-clan prince makes his "graceful" ascension onto Sunningrocks with a soft huff. Asterpaw takes a heartbeat to recover only to push himself onto his paws once more stumbling over to the edge and glancing down at Lavenderpaw, he extends a paw out towards her, and offers a bashful smile "C'mon... it'll get real lonely up here without you."

If she were to take his paw in her own, electricity would fizzle throughout his body, and he'd hold his breath for a long moment admiring the way that her warmth bleeds into his own skin. He wouldn't let go until she settled onto Sunningrocks alongside him (he didn't want to let go of her ever...) and his heart skips within his chest. He wishes a world with her despite how foolish his thoughts are and how much of a fool that his heart is... "C-can I admit something rather foolish of me?" The apprentice inquires timidly and if she nods her head or utters a quiet 'yes' then he lays himself bare to her, "I've m-missed you." I've missed this... I've missed us...

A nervous chuckle bubbles out from his throat and he casts his gaze elsewhere so he needn't see her reaction, in case, she laughed at him "I know it's silly... but it's true."

"speech", thoughts, attacking
a runty, longhaired chocolate tabby with clay toned eyes and low white. a sickly apprentice with small patches of fevercoat left over in his pelt, kitten fuzz, and fat that clings to him but is fading away to give way to a taller/more lanky build
sickly child of loonstar and sablestar; littermate of dreampaw and magpiepaw; padding after lavenderpaw

asterpaw's an introverted apprentice that keeps to himself for the most part unless family's involved, he usually keeps his head low and eyes averted so he doesn't make direct eye contact. once, he actually gets to know someone is he more open towards them and can prove to be a devoted friend. once he's comfortable around other individuals, he tends to speak a lot more and sometimes over shares about himself without realizing it. he hates that he was born sickly but despite it, he tries to overcome it and pushes himself harder than any of the apprentices

She's running out of excuses - and it seems Willowroot is, too. While her aunt is ever on her side, the darker pelted molly can only do so much for her. Eventually, Frostmoth sniffs out every inconsistency with every lie, and the duo have to think up a new one. While Asterpaw suffers the death of his medicine cat and the grief of his mother, Lavenderpaw suffers the ear-clawing efforts of her mentor to keep her stationary. He decides that she can busy herself with repairing den walls into the night, and to only stop when she's asleep on her paws... She garners the attention of a younger, inexperienced apprentice, bribes them to do the job, and escapes with likely a punishment waiting for her upon return.

But it's okay - because it's worth it. Lavenderpaw thinks of his dark tabby fur, warm amber eyes, and casual (yet oftentimes anxious) smile, and decides every time that it's more than worth it.

Is this love? She feels like she's answered this question on her own and with the help of others dozens of times now, but the blue pelted molly settles upon the sands of her shore with the same uncertainty as ever. She feels late - delayed at best, given her aptitude to arrive earlier than necessary to their visits. Yet he finds the opposite bank after her arrival, and she almost plays it off as if she has been here far longer than he thinks. Water laps at his paws and he doesn't flinch, and she takes quiet note of that.

"You didn't!" She's quick to tell him, angling her paws towards the stepping stones so that she could find his side of the river easier. With the chilling weather, she's not too sure she can risk a full dip again. She intends to tell him the tale of her evening when he motions to Sunningrocks, and suggests they rest there. She doesn't hesitate, per say, but her maw goes dry as she looks over the stones. Some RiverClanners believe they should belong to the river, and thus the Clan that rules it. She imagines that ThunderClan has similar thoughts.

Before she can say anything terse or voice her uncertainty, he trots from her. His paws clasp and clamber over the uneven pile, striving higher and higher. She winces when he almost slips, but before she can do anything, he's found his footing again. Eventually he leans over the edge and peers down at her, and Lavenderpaw finds her eyes widening slightly. He can't tell, but from her point of view, the moon has haloed around his head. The cool blue light echoes around his frame, and his paw appears damn near ethereal as he reaches down towards her. "It'll get real lonely..."

Her paw reaches for his without a second thought. A searing burns through her blood, lighting her veins ablaze. Her ears warm, and she utilizes his help to climb the very same stones she had been wary about before. All the while, Lavenderpaw quietly tells herself. This is love.

But she can't say that to him yet.

She sidles next to him on the topmost stone, weathering some of the breezes that come from climbing higher up. She's not sure how SkyClan cats manage this, but she's certain other Clans think the same of her home and their love of swimming. If he allows it, she leans her shoulder into the plushness of his pelt, hoping to hide from some of the winds. He speaks again, and she realizes as he does just how startlingly silent she's been. The romantic in her would say it's because he leaves her speechless with her breath taken away. The realist in her simply says that she's worked action into the conversation... but that he clearly craves a voice, not a touch.

He says, "I missed you," and Lavenderpaw feels her heart seize.

"It's not silly," she rumbles, though admittedly a nervous laugh flits through her lips. "You don't understand the boughs I've been jumping through to make it here... But I do it because -" a pause, sucking air through her lips. She eases it out with her head tilting to the side, away from him, in an effort to see his face. "- Well, I missed you too. I... I like this a lot, Asterpaw. I don't think I've met anyone like you yet," she puts emphasis into her words purposefully, trying to make sure he knows just how purposefully unique he is. "You're worth the mousebile I'll have to bother with in the morning...!" She jests, then, her eyes crinkling with a partial laugh.
