✪ Align my Heart, my Body, my Mind

indentDustystar ducks into the nursery with her head hung low and her shoulders sagging. The Gathering has left her drained, but she has a promise to fulfill. "Honeyflower." Her voice is gentle, as to not disturb the expecting queen. "We're back. We left early."

indentQuietly, she slinks into the shade of the nursery, and tucks her paws underneath herself, preparing for a long explanation. "I promised to tell you about it, but know that it's not gonna be a pretty story."

Slow Down, Just Breathe

Honeyflower is dozing in the nursery, her kits either nursing or sleeping at her side, when she startles slightly to Dustystar's approach. Her leader's posture is alarming, almost defeated and any tiredness the Gale Guard had is almost instantly sapped away out of alarm.

"What happened at the gathering, Dusty..?" Her mew is soft, gazing at the molly with concern. "Is everything alright?" Clearly it wasn't or Dustystar wouldn't have come in such a state. With shoulders sagging as if carrying a great weight.

She wished she had been able to go- maybe, somehow, she would have been able to try and soothe whatever had happened. Or maybe whatever it was had been too far gone to try and smooth over. Either way the fact of the matter was that she wasn't there. Green eyes blinked slowly, softly, encouraging her leader to speak.

✪ Align my Heart, my Body, my Mind

indentDustystar remains silent, for a moment. Her eyes rest upon the wriggling kits as she puts her thoughts together. "The cat that attacked Gorsepaw, Thunderclan's deputy. She wasn't his only victim. There was an... accident, at the Thunderclan and Skyclan border. A Skyclan cat crossed the boundary, and was killed." Her throat feels dry. It's difficult to make the words come out. "Hawkstar demanded a life as payment. Juniperstar gave one of her own."

indentEver so gently, she reaches out towards one of the kittens, licking it on the top of it's soft head. Though the atmosphere of the nursery is comforting and serene, the specter of death follows Dustystar. "Hawkstar tore her throat out, right there." Her eyes meet Honeyflower's. "Is that justice, do you think? Owlbark and Hawkstar just did what they thought would protect their clans." Dustystar shakes her head. "But still, the sight of it won't leave me alone. I'm not sure anyone will get much sleep tonight."

Dustystar - 27 moons - Windclan Leader

Slow Down, Just Breathe
The new mother listens quietly, brows creasing as the leader recounts the events of the night's gathering for her. Honeyflower is suddenly very relieved she hadn't actually attended Juniperstar's supposed peaceful gathering.

"...I don't know if I would call that justice," She mews carefully, voice soft. "But I suppose I can see how either side could come to that conclusion."

A life for a life. Instinctively she finds herself curling her tail tighter around her children, still so new to the world and unaware of how cold and cruel it could be... This had never been an issue when they were barncats. Fighting in general had been few and far between- and even then she could not recall a single time it had gone to the death.

She waits for Dustystar to raise her head once more, green eyes briefly glancing at the scar along her throat before meeting her gaze with a frown. "I'll never know the circumstances of it all of course but I don't know if I would follow a leader like Hawkstar who so quickly moves to draw more blood. Even if it's for her version of justice..." There's a pause, concern in her voice as she studies Dusty. "I don't want to watch you make a choice like Juniperstar did tonight. You may have seven more lives than the rest of the clan, but none of us want to see you throw them away."

Finally the molly leans forward to touch her nose to the leader's shoulder in reassurance. "...At least try to rest? Even if it's just laying there with your eyes closed. ..I imagine we'll have a meeting about this sometime soon, I'll be there, of course-" Green eyes briefly drift down to her children nestled against her, blissfully unaware of the conversation. "I have so much more to protect now. I may be bound to the nursery for the time being but I still want to know what's going on with our neighbors. ...and how we're going to approach this moving forward."

There was a tightness in her chest. An overwhelming surge of protectiveness as she looked down to her three daughters. What if the other clans turned on Windclan? Would she be able to protect them as well as her mate? What if Shadowclan took back their allyship? Would Owlbark kill again if another apprentice like Gorsepaw was overzealous in catching fleeing prey?

Honeyflower was a worrywart at the best of times, she feared that she also wouldn't catch much sleep tonight.

✪ Align my Heart, my Body, my Mind

indentDustystar watches Honeyflower tense, wrapping her tail around her kittens. She has half a mind to feel guilty. Honeyflower has enough to worry about within the nursery, with her young kittens, without worrying about the ills of the outside world.

indentStill, though, she has a right to know. Dustystar had promised to tell her what went down at the gathering, anyways, and she won't go back on a promise. "It's strange." She mews. "We've always known Skyclan is strong, and proud. When I met Hawkstar, I immediately understood how such powerful cats would follow her so loyally. She's got... a bit of an aura, I suppose. You can't help but be drawn to her." It's the first time she's ever told someone about her admiration for the older molly. "But I still underestimated just how far they would follow her." 'Or, maybe, for these cats, killing someone isn't that far.' She shakes the sickening thought from her mind.

indent"I'll try to rest. I promise." She offers Honeyflower a strained but gentle smile. "But you need to promise to rest too, Honeyflower. Your kits need their mother, and..." She leans forward, nervous, unaware if she might be crossing some boundary, and gently licks Honeyflower's shoulder, tidying up the mussed fur there. "Windclan will need a kind cat like you, to guide us. So, sleep well, okay? It's an order, from your leader."
