You walk along the edge of danger
AND IT WILL CHANGE YOU

Copperstorm knew he was being overprotective, he could feel the tension in his shoulders every time pawsteps neared the nursery entrance. Instinct screamed at him to bar the way, to wedge himself between Dewshine and even the most harmless clanmate. She was fine. She was strong. Their kits were coming any day and every passing moment twisted his nerves tighter. What if something went wrong? What if leafbare stole from them too soon? What if Rowanfeather-- No. He couldn't spiral like that. He refused to invite fear in.
With a bracing breath, he forced his hackles flat and turned his focus outward, to the clan that had sheltered them, trusted them. Would ThunderClan begin to side-eye them for what ShadowClan accused? He prayed not. He had told the truth: Coalstrike's death had been a tragedy created by Coalstrike himself. Yet he couldn't deny the bitter twist in his chest whenever he imagined how others might now judge ThunderClan because of him. This forest had given him everything: purpose, a future, a family. Children he hadn't sired by blood but loved no less. Soon, kits of his own. He wouldn't let his past smear that.
Spotting Loonstar, he cast one final look toward the nursery before stepping forward, lowering his head with utmost respect. " Loonstar. " he greeted, voice low and steady. " I never managed to say this before... " The words stuck, heavy as stones. Apologies were not something he'd grown up offering, certainly not for surviving a monster like his father. Apologies were for the weak, he had been taught time and time again... It had been beaten in him. But... But she had stood firm under accusation meant for him.
" ... I am sorry for how ShadowClan has twisted ThunderClan's name on account of Coalstrike. " His jaw tightened but his gaze held hers. " I didn't know they valued that brute as anything but a terror. But whatever they think... ThunderClan shouldn't bear blame for the war he waged on his own family. " He exhaled, the tension loosening, if only a fraction.
" Thank you for believing us. For protecting my family. "
