Morning fog rolled slowly over the shore and wrapped around sturdy, striped legs poised in shallow waters. The wet cool seeped through Storm's fur and made her shiver at its touch. She longed for the days of newleaf when she was at least hopeful the air around her would warm. Today, she had no hope for the like and resigned to tuck her chin into her fluffy chest to stave off some of the cold. The ocean was no better this time of year. It took her breath away anytime she dipped her paws into it.
At the sound of stony beach rocks clacking against each other, the whorled she-cat turned her head expecting to find her brother. A very not-Frost she-cat looked at her with soft eyes.
"Oh! Hello! I'm sorry, I thought you were someone else," Storm turned to face her with a soft smile. She had seen her around the shipyard, but never truly had the chance to say hello. Ever since she had been able to meet Smoke and Willow, she suddenly felt more open to meeting new cats. It had been hard after Tangle died. All she had wanted to do was curl into her brother's fur and forget about the world. Now, though, she felt more open to meeting new faces.
"Would you like to join me? I was trying to see if I could snag some fish for later," she explained, lazily dragging her paw through the weak shore-side current.
