This thread takes place inside the clan's camp.

AND I AM SORRY MY CONSCIENCE CALLED IN SICK AGAIN

______________________________________________________________________

Wolfpack bolted awake in his nest, ears flattening against his skull as the sharp cry that echoed through the camp. Still half-asleep, the deputy was on his paws in a heartbeat, muscles coiled and heart hammering with adrenaline as he made for the dens exit. A sound like that meant someone was in pain, and that usually meant trouble.

And he wasn't wrong.

A warrior was crouched at the edge of camp, fur bristled and paw pulled close to their chest. More alarming though, was the large snapping turtle hissing at them by the steep, muddy slope that protected their camp. A clear slide trail indicated the thing had bullied its way through the shrubs above, before slipping down the side in hopes of finding a pond.

Instead, it had nearly landed in their camp and taken a snap at an unsuspecting cat.

The good news was that said cat still had their paw, so the injury wasn't that bad. The snapper also didn't seem all that fast or co-ordinated on land as it made another clumsy stride forward before settling. Tired, maybe? Or just not good outside of the water. The bad news was that there was no way they were killing or dragging the thing back up the muddle slope.

Which meant they had big problems if they could solve this.

Despite the fact that several other warriors had followed him out and more than one apprentice was already coming over to investigate, Wolfpack let out a warning call anyway– not just to rally the other warriors to him, but to let the caregivers, elders, and kits the warning to keep the hell away.

"Nobody get near it! Don't give it a reason to come any farther into camp!" he ordered, not wanting it lunging forward or pushing it's way toward the dens. Right now the thing was still right up against the steep, muddy slope of the camp, and Wolf wanted to keep it there. At least until they figured out how they were going to get the thing out. "Warriors, I want a wide perimeter set up-- nobody gets through." He didn't need curious or stupid cats testing their luck and making things worse.

  • ooc :Hello Shadowclan! Lot's of fun stuff going on this month! Along with the specialty patrols to compliment our Hunger Games event, we're also going to be introducing these pop-up mini-encounters! These are basically just opportunities for our cats to interact, work together, and share experiences as a group. Not quite epic enough to call a full-scale event, but still tons of fun and usually a chance for the entire clan to get in on the excitement of something that doesn't typically happen in their day-to-day lives!

Mini-Event Prompt!-- Oh no! A large snapping turtle has fallen down the muddy slope of camp and can't climb out! What's worse, it's already taken a shot at a clanmate! On the bright side, the thing is either too worn out to go charging straight into camp, or just really slow and clumsy on land. It gives the cats time to construct a plan to get it out, or maybe contain it somehow? It's certainly too dangerous to kill and big to carry, right? (Feel free to be the cat who got nipped, but be advised that the injury was luckily very minor, with reflexes and tired-turtle aim saving them from a crushing bite).

He had been trying to nap off the rolling hunger in his stomach. It roared, and chewed into him- an annoying gnawing that continuously made him want to pull his own claws into his stomach to try to stop the pain. So instead, viperhowl had settled with resting his eyes, his paws crossed underneath his chin, and curling his cheek into the crevice of the fold.

He got to dream of a fat mouse, teeth sinking into the sinew with a contented drool dripping off his jaws as he softly snored. Tail flicked behind him and paws twitched as he dreamed of satisfying his stomach.

That was, until a sudden pain shot through his paw, jolting back with fur on end as the warrior let out a snarl, claws and teeth baring. His injured paw was brought to his chest, blinking sleep from his eyes. As His eyes adjusted to the sudden wake, viperhowl realized a turtle had taken the plunge into his paw.

Wolfpacks voice suddenly broke, loud and clear. He wanted this and that to happen, and the tom blinked in his direction before staring at the turtle again. "What if we flipped it on its back?" He offered the idea with a shrug. "I've seen a turtle on its back, eventually it will die then we can eat it." Viper said with a shrug, a smirk lining his features as he licked his tongue over his teeth.

BLACKTREE
Damn your love, damn your lies

Blacktree was roused by Wolfpack's call of alarm, and without thought, tucked the kits closer to their caregivers, standing between the nursery and that hulking brute trying to make its way into their camp. Her fur bristled and her lips curled back into a snarl as she paced in front of her charges.

"Keep an eye on your kits," she muttered, her voice low and full of fury. "If that thing gets a chance it wouldn't hesitate, no doubt." Her claws unsheathed, she looked to the other warriors as they roused, waiting for a decision to be made.

The beast was large - far too large to maneuver with a shove - and its pelt looked tough and difficult to tear into. Would the meal even be worth the effort it would take to kill the thing and try to pull off a morsel of food?
