AND I AM SORRY MY CONSCIENCE CALLED IN SICK AGAIN
______________________________________________________________________
Wolfpack bolted awake in his nest, ears flattening against his skull as the sharp cry that echoed through the camp. Still half-asleep, the deputy was on his paws in a heartbeat, muscles coiled and heart hammering with adrenaline as he made for the dens exit. A sound like that meant someone was in pain, and that usually meant trouble.
And he wasn't wrong.
A warrior was crouched at the edge of camp, fur bristled and paw pulled close to their chest. More alarming though, was the large snapping turtle hissing at them by the steep, muddy slope that protected their camp. A clear slide trail indicated the thing had bullied its way through the shrubs above, before slipping down the side in hopes of finding a pond.
Instead, it had nearly landed in their camp and taken a snap at an unsuspecting cat.
The good news was that said cat still had their paw, so the injury wasn't that bad. The snapper also didn't seem all that fast or co-ordinated on land as it made another clumsy stride forward before settling. Tired, maybe? Or just not good outside of the water. The bad news was that there was no way they were killing or dragging the thing back up the muddle slope.
Which meant they had big problems if they could solve this.
Despite the fact that several other warriors had followed him out and more than one apprentice was already coming over to investigate, Wolfpack let out a warning call anyway– not just to rally the other warriors to him, but to let the caregivers, elders, and kits the warning to keep the hell away.
"Nobody get near it! Don't give it a reason to come any farther into camp!" he ordered, not wanting it lunging forward or pushing it's way toward the dens. Right now the thing was still right up against the steep, muddy slope of the camp, and Wolf wanted to keep it there. At least until they figured out how they were going to get the thing out. "Warriors, I want a wide perimeter set up-- nobody gets through." He didn't need curious or stupid cats testing their luck and making things worse.

ooc : — Hello Shadowclan! Lot's of fun stuff going on this month! Along with the specialty patrols to compliment our Hunger Games event, we're also going to be introducing these pop-up mini-encounters! These are basically just opportunities for our cats to interact, work together, and share experiences as a group. Not quite epic enough to call a full-scale event, but still tons of fun and usually a chance for the entire clan to get in on the excitement of something that doesn't typically happen in their day-to-day lives!
Mini-Event Prompt!-- Oh no! A large snapping turtle has fallen down the muddy slope of camp and can't climb out! What's worse, it's already taken a shot at a clanmate! On the bright side, the thing is either too worn out to go charging straight into camp, or just really slow and clumsy on land. It gives the cats time to construct a plan to get it out, or maybe contain it somehow? It's certainly too dangerous to kill and big to carry, right? (Feel free to be the cat who got nipped, but be advised that the injury was luckily very minor, with reflexes and tired-turtle aim saving them from a crushing bite).
- shadowclan deputy - male - a large, black & blue chimera with moderate white splashing, mismatched eyes, and several scars.
