————————————— Everything must come to an end ✦

Somehow, she'd managed to get them together in a patrol; everything they'd planned had been turned on its head. So many cats of their original group have gone missing, some of their intentions changing as they grew. But still, Snapdragontooth saw that fire in her friends, and even more so, in the eyes of the new apprentices.

She turned to her friends, gaze falling to Webfrost with a small smile. "Well, Miss Mentor, how's teaching the next generation going?" She grinned, playfully. Web had been the only one thus far given an apprentice, but that meeting had sparked a thought in her mind. Something she'd not been able to shake for days on end, and the longer she observed some of the newest apprentices, even those kits soon to be apprenticed, something had clicked in her mind. "Y'know, I've been thinking. Our whole fight club kinda fizzled out a little; we got busy, and it was impossible to do anything with mentors down our necks."

The tortoiseshell hummed, glancing now to their newest warriors, Searingshade and Tenebrousthorn. They'd taken a hell of a risk letting them join, but siblings to Flicker meant they had promise, and damn well they did. "But We're the warriors now, 'nd Webby's proof enough We're getting enough trust in the clan we can get away with more than we're used to." Her mind went back to the spat with that Riverclan brat; if she wasn't literally surrounded by warriors, she would have wiped that smug look off her face there and then. Even recalling it made her pelt stand on end, claws dug into the earth underpaw with a huff of frustration.

Snapdragon paused and looked to her friends, fluffy tail dusting the earth underpaw. "It's a little out there, but we have practice, 'nd I've seen these new apprentices have some potential- Hell, have y'all seen the gall of those older kittens? They've got that same fire, but they haven't seen what we have. They have no idea what could come to pass if they're not trained to understand as we do." The tortoiseshell padded a little, humming as she pondered the plan that had been nothing more than a seed of a thought. "It's a wild idea, I know, but we train those kids too, not actual mentors--unless we get assigned one, that's a bonus--but we teach them the way we taught ourselves. Train them to fight like real warriors, not these soft-bellied cowards. Not when we know a fight with Riverclan is almost inevitable." The tension had been palpable, from that first patrol she felt it then, but as the days grew colder and colder, and the cats' hunger grew more insistent with prey growing scarce, she'd seen the greedy eyes of those river dwellers eyeing up sunningrocks. She knew he hatred of the clan was personal, but she was more than willing to make it everyone's issue if she had to.

She focused on the youngest of the group as she continued her rambling. "Tene, Searing, you two are the newest out of the apprentice den; either of you has a thought who might be good for our ranks."

Then, she looked to her older peers, cinders in her eyes. "Webby, Flicker, any arguements? Hell, any better ideas? Cause I've not been able to stop thinking about it, those kids would be doomed with their training, not all of them are built to be warriors, but the kits like we were their age? They've got promise, we just need to stoke the flames." She grinned, snidely. Snapdragon may have been assimilated into the clan, but she hadn't grown for her need of power, control. But better still was finding that with cats she had long considered her friends and confidants. These were the cats she could trust to join her plan, make it better even.

Tenebrousthorn rolls her shoulders back with a partial yawn. It's odd - for most of her apprenticeship she had been racing against time, in a way. Forcing herself to learn the territory, hunting techniques, and battle skills predominantly on her own. Her first mentor hardly brought her to any border before serving her punishments for her attitude. And then her father, bless him, didn't give her time to breathe. No child of his would lag behind the rest of the litter after all. She was up before the sun and went to bed long after it - the fresh kill pile was donated several meals by her before she took a single bite. It's pure chance that they hadn't come across any ShadowClanner, lest her claws been tested too. Regardless, after so long of racing and then being raced... to for once be out, on her own volition, without a worry or fear that someone may march her back to camp? It itches her pelt in an uncomfortable way. She'll shake it soon enough, she thinks. In time.

Her mismatched gaze twitched to Snapdragontooth when she began talking to Webfrost. Right... in that mass of apprentices made last meeting, the tabby had earned one of her own. Tenebrousthorn wonders if she'll get an apprentice one day, naturally, before she begins following the flared tortoiseshell's line of thinking. The former rogue doesn't like failure, it seems - or in the least detests being connected to it, no matter how secretive. Tenebrousthorn looks to Searingshade with a silent look of exhaustion before returning her attention to the others.

So she wants to... what, steal the next generation of apprentices? Not quite. It sounds like, with some more explanation, that Snapdragontooth wants to ensure that every kit and apprentice are beneficial to ThunderClan. And... well, Tenebrousthorn would agree: some of them are far too soft-pawed and meak-mannered to be able to hold their own. But some of them...

At the chance, she flicks her tail, "Blisteringfury is training Victorypaw, now," she says with ease. "He won't stomp out that fire in her, like someone else might try. We could use that. or - that Faithpaw. I heard she got into a fight with some other kit only a moon into being around. Seems pretty viable to me."

Webfrost nodded as she walked alongside the other young warriors. Her training with them had taught her more than Dewshine ever had - even if she was feeling a little warmer to the caregiver now that Webfrost herself had graduated and been made a mentor herself. A weird thought.

"I think it's a good idea," she mewed to Snapdragontooth. "The fights with the fox and those dogs are proof our generation is strong and skilled. And why shouldn't we share that skill? It'll only serve to make ThunderClan stronger, in the end." At Tenebrousthorn's remark, she gave a toothy grin.

"Its a pretty recent appointment, so we haven't had much chance for me to assess skills, but Faithpaw is my apprentice already... and an excellent choice. I'll bring it up to her when we do battle training tomorrow morning. Whether she's good at fighting or not, she's gonna have to be better. And we can make that happen."
