BRIGHTNOSE ──
skyclan | sun guard

The sun has begun to sink when the patrol reaches the border with ShadowClan, and Brightnose signals to the others to stay close as she glances past Fourtrees, at the pocosin that makes up the other Clan's territory.
The shadows cast by the trees seem darker today, somehow; it seems that despite her best efforts to ignore it, Brightnose is more focused on the flickers of movement in the corners of her vision than she is on actually marking the border… every time she glances behind her shoulder, she sees only her patrol members dutifully doing their job. Am I going crazy??

Suddenly, there's something like a whisper in the wind, a shrill voice that chills Brightnose to the bone worse than the worst of leaf-bare chills. Her fur stands on end when she hears it, and her claws unsheathe by instinct as she whips her head around. "Please tell me someone else heard that!!" She gasps, emerald eyes flicking to and fro as she tries to discern the source of what was definitely someone's voice… Is the ShadowClan border always like this?? It's seriously creeping her out!!
now i will tell you what i've done for you

"It seems shadows like to dance in the edge of your vision- but when you look, nothing's there. Was that a voice?"

✧✧ There is a SkyClan warrior at the border. A patrol of them, in fact, though this fact means little to the thief. They could slip their way past the line of cats if necessary—though, mercifully, it has not yet become necessary. Echostep takes care to remain obscured in the brush, keen eyes tracking each of the opposing patrol's movements. The wind blows, and the SkyClanner at the head of the patrol seems to flinch at her own shadow, crying out for confirmation of her apparent paranoia. "I heard nothing," they state, making themself known from their place within the shadows. The words are hushed—an acknowledgement of the SkyClanner's plea, and little else.

Their steps are careful, wraithlike, as they sweep forth until they stand merely a tail-length from the border. Their figure is hunched, a curl of their long tail emphasizing the darkness that surrounds them. "Perhaps you hear the cries of the dead," they suggest, their voice low and rumbling, yet conversational. It is almost casual, the manner in which they tip their head to speak to the feather-furred SkyClanner as they speak of the deceased. The veil does seem thinner as the nights grow colder, wearing until the separation between living and dead is little more than a suggestion. Perhaps the damned wail in the poor silvery-furred feline's ears, just far enough away for Echostep not to notice.
