PEBBLEDREAM ──
riverclan | warrior
The air is quite brisk today, a chill within the breeze that makes Pebbledream feel grateful for their longer coat of fur. Leaf-bare is just around the corner, and there is much to do if everything is to go smoothly through the harsh season. Usually, Pebbledream performs their extra tasks alone, or more recently, with their apprentice; today, however, they find themself leading the way to the Sunningrocks border with the recently-joined Brook and Kuhli in tow. Yes, they know that Pikestar had assigned them a warrior each to oversee their training as they familiarize themselves with Clan life, but Pebbledream hardly believes they'll mind if they take them out into the territory for a short time.

As for the reason Pebbledream chose these two, specifically? They're honestly not quite sure. They hardly know them, though they suppose they could say that about most of their Clanmates; they're not exactly a social butterfly. There had just been something about the interaction they'd had surrounding that perfectly-still twoleg that gave them a feeling they couldn't quite place, as if they were young again and their pops was chasing them through the shipyard, laughing and hollering without a care in the world. They don't miss the shipyard days, not by any means - to be a loyal, hardworking RiverClan warrior was the closest they've ever felt to divine purpose. To serve is to be alive. They'd be nothing without it. But that feeling… there's something deep within them that begs to pursue it. And so, here they are.

"This is our border with ThunderClan," Pebbledream explains to the pair, signaling for them to halt as they teach. "Sunningrocks is across the border - you may have heard it mentioned in conversation back at camp, as some cats believe it belongs to RiverClan; however, as long as things remain as they are, we are not to step paw on them. That being said-" they turn to Brook and Kuhli, deep blue eyes sweeping over them- "the scent markers here do tend to blur more often than other places. Notice how it becomes a bit indistinct, the closer you get to the border line." They pause, allowing them to take note. "We're here to make sure RiverClan's side is clearly marked."

Kuhli walks after Pebbledream, their steps careful, yet confident. They've slowly been getting used to RiverClan territory and they find it beautiful. The streams woven throughout the plains, reeds and willows and marsh marigold sprouting everywhere. They quickly got used to the sound of running water, the noise calming, splashing against pebbles and the riverbank. Kuhli is glad they decided to join RiverClan - despite the rocky start, they learned fast to live in the wild, amongst so many cats.

Now, Kuhli looks around - they recognise this place. "These are the stepping stones we crossed to come to RiverClan..." they recall. Pikestar did immediatelly warn them about the other clans and now Kuhli understands why. They nod, "I'll make sure to remember this." Kuhli doesn't want to cause any trouble for Pikestar or RiverClan, especially not one involving the other clans. No, Kuhli will stay on this side of the border, obediently.

Clan life is still a bit confusing to Kuhli, with all the rules and traditions to follow, but they find it reassuring - the rules, for the most part, are logical, meant to prevent harm instead of causing it. Just like this border - instead of fighting for territory, the clans have decided to mark their own, making sure not to cross it. I'm glad we decided to come, they think again, grateful for Brook especially, for joining them on this journey.

Pebbledream was a rather fun cat to spend time with, so when they'd asked her and Kuhli to come along on a little border patrol, Brook had lept- figuratively, of course - at the opportunity. Their patrol had led them closer to ThunderClan's border, which Pikestar had shown them before, and as Kuhli pointed out, they'd crossed upon their original arrival to RiverClan.

He looked out to the rocks, the smooth surfaces gleaming in the weak sunlight. A little chill ran through their pelt with the breeze, and Brook shivered.

"Are you certain we can't go on them?" Brook asked. "It's not like we'd be stealing prey or anything! Just taking a quick little nap!"

Pebbledream appears satisfied by Kuhli's attentiveness to their words, though their slight smile is paired with flattened ears as Brook suggests crossing a border to take a nap, of all things. They suppress their urge to playfully cuff their paw over his ear.

"Yes, I am absolutely certain," They respond, their tone very matter-of-fact. "We have our own stones to lay upon on our side of the border, if you are truly in need of a place to rest your head." They say this, but somehow they feel obligated to prove it now, and they swivel their head to glance along the riverbank. They're no Sunningrocks, of course, but there is truth to what Pebbledream suggests - there are several stones that are large and flat enough for a cat to curl up on comfortably. As if to demonstrate that they are right, they pad to the nearest one and promptly lay down, tucking their paws underneath themself as they wrap their tail along their flank. "Like so."
