It was a constant war within Thornkit, between wanting to remain at Faithkit's side unfaltering and wanting to get up to burn off the excess energy that seemed to accumulate under his skin at a rapid pace. He knew his sister encouraged him to get out of the medicine cat's den and move, but that time spent apart from her could be critical, especially while she was sick - he'd never been far from her before, typically accompanied by her and Falsekit whenever he took a romp, another routine that had been thoroughly pulled from its roots and burned in the aftermath of their mother's attack and their subsequent flight to ThunderClan in a bid to help Faithkit get over the illness that had latched onto her. Here, where there were so many strangers of unknown intentions, Thornkit was all the more hesitant to leave his sister's side - even if Falsekit would be there in his absence.

Perhaps it was because Falsekit would be there in his absence. While the trio of littermates had always seemed well-balanced, Thornkit, as subconscious as it might have been, could feel a shift beginning to start in their dynamic, and he was afraid that he might somehow lose both of his siblings if he looked away for too long. He'd never felt jealous of Falsekit or Faithkit before, but with the way they resembled one another, the way Serpentberry seemed more inclined to reward and coddle their apparent acquiescence to their new life, Thornkit suddenly felt as if he needed to scrabble to keep hold of everything he'd once known. Everything was changing, whether he wanted it to or not, and he needed to be able to keep up.

Having been born on the cusp of Greenleaf into Leaf-fall, all Thornkit had known in terms of weather was mildness and briskness. In another moon or two, all hints of warmth in the air would disappear entirely - not that that was something that had occurred to him as something that could happen - and as it was, warm nights were becoming scarcer in number. It would seem as though the stars themselves aligned for this one night before all of that would happen, where Serpentberry had deemed Faithkit doing well enough for that day to take a little venture outside of the medicine cat's den. The night sky was clear above the barriers of ThunderClan's camp, an endless expanse that, unlike the land around them, couldn't be contained and that Thornkit couldn't be bound to. Sitting outside of the medicine cat's den with his littermates, Thornkit's tail twitched erratically as he stared up at the sky, eyes darting from one star to the next as they twinkled above.

His sister was sandwiched between him and Falsekit, and he was gently murmuring to the both of them about the sparkling stars when movement in the corner of his eye caught his attention and he tensed, rounding on the approaching figure and using his own small body to try and eclipse Faithkit from view. The approaching stranger wasn't one of the adults, but Thornkit's stance remained the same as he critically glared at the kit now standing before him. There were so many other kits in this place, and yet they all seemed to find their way into Thornkit's personal space - though he supposed it was a natural occurrence, given that they couldn't go anywhere else.

"What, are you sick or something? Or are you just trying to bother us?" Thornkit snipped, hackles relaxing only slightly as his defensive hostility gave way some to a desire to prod and provoke.
