Prompt: One of the kittypets offers to give you one of their treasures. However, they lead you to a strange colorful pelt (tent) that appears to have a twoleg mouth with something strange hanging from its teeth as an entrance. Will you enter?

BLOCKED YOUR ONE WAY HOME

Poseidon was thrilled when Sonja came back home from her long stay away. And then he learned he would get to go on a trip with her as well! That meant spending even more time with her. Oh he missed her so much. He was excited they brought his favorite bed and toys with them to the riverside, where he met up with old friends - both people and other house cats.

But then Sonja's friends arrived, and she only had eyes for them, telling him to get lost anytime he tried to snuggle with her or share food together. He didn't understand - why did she bring him with her if she didn't even want to spend time with him?

He sat at the edge of the river somberly, shifting his paws through the shells and pebbles, looking for the prettiest ones and arranging them in rows. He wondered if he would be able to bring them all back to their tent, but he wasn't sure if Sonja would appreciate that - she would probably just throw them all out again and then he would need to spend the rest of the next day sorting them once again. He had the prettiest ones stashed away, tucked in spots Sonja wouldn't notice them, but he couldn't bring even more back inside, there would simply be too many... Maybe he could exchange some?

There was a rustle at the reeds and Poseidon raised his head, trying to see whether it was one of the other cats or possibly a bird. Instead he found eyes staring at him through the reeds, the gaze of a stranger fixed on him - this was no house cat! The cat in front of him looked wild - Poseidon didn't know there were wild cats around here.

"H...hello?" he tried. "Can I...help with anything?"

Maybe they were interested in the food Sonja and her friends were making? Or perhaps in the festivities that they seemed to celebrate? Or maybe they were interested in his trinkets?

"If you want one for yourself, i have prettier ones in the tent!" he said, pointing at his rows of stones and shells. Perhaps this wild cat could be their friend also, since Sonja didn't seem very interested in him anyway...

The recent influx of twolegs was... unsettling, to say the least. Ever since that fateful day spent investigating, the strange warm stench that wafted from the twolegs' camp made the tom feel rather sick. The birds were all a fuss too, cawing in unpleasant melodies about the ever-increasing annoyance that was the twolegs. At least they seemed to stay away from the depth of the territory, though he couldn't say he couldn't smell them from far further than that. It was... rather curious, actuallythe scent of twolegs was mingled with something familiar, something furry and quick-tongued like them, and Gale kept watchful eyes out. There was sure to be curious paws about, kittypets with stomachs far bigger than he, with little flitting songbirds in their chests. Kittypets that had not starved as he, seen death as he, and known pain as he... It couldn't help but shiver at the notion of being stuck as they were, though perhaps he had that feeling due to the capturing of Bubblepaw and Shimmerpaw what seemed like many moons ago at this point. Either way, he found himself hovering just at the edges of the territory, watching in curiosity at those with such different lives from him. Those that cawed from within a shining cage, unaware of the shining claws that encircled them.

His blue eyes were sharp, staring, and entirely unwelcoming, but of course that never seemed to deter those wayward cats that had gotten far too comfortable with twolegs. Of course, he hadn't gone far without at least Torrentpaw at his side—the two were bonded by these things, inseparably so—and that knowledge of the ways of twolegs was priceless to the pale lynxpoint. The lone kittypet that called out to him seemed... alone, though, and it couldn't help but answer such beckonings, especially with the assortment of things at their clawtips.

The tom unfolded himself from his hiding place within the shubbery, long legs unfolding as he stretched to his full height and took a cautious, gentle step towards the brown-and-blue tom. For a few steps, it remained in a curious silence, regarding the other with watchful large eyes. "...A strange assortment, to be sure." He muttered in greeting, slowing to a stop a few bounds away from the other. It tilted its head, curled ears flicking and perked, ever ready for the crrrunch of twoleg paws. "...You do not seek to trade, then?" It questioned, raising a small brow at the other's offer. "I fear I do not have my usual supply, not with me anywaythough I suppose a cat such as you are unfamiliar with the shining of scales. You cannot miss what you never beheld." It mused to itself, eyes hungry and fixed on the stones and shells. They certainly weren't anything to write home about, this cat had only been here for so long anyway, but they did catch his eye... But with the mention of something else, a 'Tent', Gale's ears flattened somewhat. "...Unwise." He responded after a few silent moments. "Such places are poisonous to the wild thingsand thus, unkind to those such as I."

POSEIDON

.

Poseidon watched as the cat emerged from the reeds and stretched up up up towards the sky, standing on legs way too long and its lanky frame, eyes disproportional to its body. An unnatural tangle of fur and limbs, like a newborn fawn standing on its legs, yet this cat stood firm, the way-too-long body supporting itself somehow.

What....the....fuck....

Poseidon cowered, trying to appear small as he stared up at this wild cat. Were all wild cats this massive? Strange looking and looming over him like low hanging clouds, threatening to suffocate him? And then it spoke, with a voice grated with wilderness, yet mystifying, as if trying to put him into a trance of trust and admiration. And it was working.

"Yes, yes... trade. Or just give, if that's what you'd prefer..." Poseidon tried, offering this giant beast a sacrifice worthy of its might. Only then did he notice there were more wild cats with it, ones more like himself, shorter and cat-like, though they haven't spoken just yet. Clearly this was the leader of the group, towering over them all with its commanding and mesmerising words.

Unwise...poisonous...unkind

The wildcat used such strange language to describe his temporary home, as if the tent could run towards them and hunt them down as they speak, as if it wasn't just another one of the people's things. Of course Poseidon didn't fully comprehend them either, but they were predictable and provided shelter. Much more stable than the reeds and currents they rooted in. "I.. I can go retrieve them if you want? You don't have to follow me." Though Poseidon wasn't sure if he would ever come back after breaking off from this hypnotising cat's voice. If he ever would. "I have some...shiny shells and stones stashed away, and.." he thought of all the human trinkets they kept losing, the ones they wore on their throats and paws, around their heads and ears. Or ones they simply threw away after using. "-some stranger trinkets as well, if that'd be to your liking."

Thunderpaw had joined a patrol into the campsite with the expressed approval of Russetfall only because she wasn't alone. She found it rather frustrating to be so coddled, sheltered like a kitten. The molly had already agreed she wouldn't venture off alone and would always be alongside someone. But the way Galepaw was talking frankly made her want to leave. She rolled her eyes as, rather than accept a nice gift from the kittypet, it decided to be dramatic about everything as always.

"Can't you accept someone being nice to you for once?" She questioned, incredulously. He seemed the type to be happy someone was so willing to give stuff away, to convince them into giving up something more worthwhile. Or maybe her brother had a sense of morality in there for once. Thunderpaw shook her head a little and sat at his side, ignoring the fact that he towered over her by now, which was just as irritating a thought. "Don't mind my brother, he's not what most of us are like."

She gave him a look before turning to the little kittypet with a smile. "Whoa... Those are cool trinkets you got there! Are they all twoleg things?" She questioned, curiously. Their mother had only in passing mentioned their father was a kittypet, so in all honesty, she was rather curious what it was like to live amidst twolegs. They seemed to be strange beasts, after all.

Though Galepaw's sour expression took her aback, before it clicked in her mind, and the molly had to laugh. "Oh my Star's right didn't you get Shimmer stuck in a twoleg den or something?" She snickered. It was a shame she and Bubblepaw got caught up in it, but it served them all right sneaking out to twoleg land. She couldn't say much about sneaking around, but she stuck with her own species and didn't fuck with twoleg stuff.

But, what the kittypet said did pique her interest. "Stranger trinkets? C'mon, Galepaw, don't be seaweed spined, let's go check it out." The cinnamon molly grinned, eyes sparkling with a shimmer of mischief.

The familiar voice hit the curled ears of the tom, and in response they flicked as though something offensive had just entered them. It had accepted his sister coming along with a quiet mutter of annoyance, a wayward glance at her in hopes that things would be calm... which perhaps was far too large of an ask. Such an incredulous tone to her voice, cruel to his ears, stiffened his joints and turned him into something strange, something monsterous. It had hardly moved, and yet their entire disposition suddenly changed, moved by just a few words. He slid his cold eyes to Thunderpaw, regarding her with eyes that were nothing but thin slits.

'He's not what most of us are like.'

Her next words laid heavy into him, said flippantly as easily as a jokebut he could see through it, could parse through the layers of abhorring of an abomination such as he. Fur prickled as though something crawled along his spine, and he had to bite his tongue to respond in an equally cruel way. It watched, a silent spectre brimming with stormy emotions just below the surface, watching his sister talk to the kittypet darkly.

At her next snicker, he let out nothing but a terse huff. "...And rescued from." It added curtly, flicking a long tail in frustration. "And I would not test my good graces with that. Such a rescue would likely not be repeated." It added darkly as Thunder delighted in the kittypet's wordswhom the tom had nearly forgotten about. "I would advise against wandering into the maw of the beast." Galepaw muttered, looking away from the leering twoleg den before them. "But by all means, I will not stifle your curiosity, Thunderpaw."

POSEIDON

.

The wildcats spoke with such lightness to their voice, yet it scraped like stone in sharp words. There was some unspoken truth between the two, Poseidon did not know, but soon found out, why. Purr halted in purrs thoughts the moment the molly called the other brother. Why then did she look so normal, and it so strange, so... so beast?

"Brother..?" Poseidon muttered in disbelief. Maybe it was some kind of hierarchy thing... the leader twists and grows, towering over everyone, to assert dominance, to demand respect. It certainly gained Poseidon's, purrs chest beating wildly in his chest, both in admiration and fear. Should he bow? Probably... "My apologies." Poseidon quickly corrected himself and bowed, front paws lowered to the ground, nose almost in the dirt.

Awkwardly he stood up then, confused yet fascinated by their talk. Yet when he turned to the tall one again, its fur had turned ruffled, spiked and edged with something - discomfort? It seemed even more menacing now, eyes dark. Poseidon quickly tore purrs gaze away from him, fear of angering the beast stronger than fascination.

Was it purrs turn to speak now? "Oh, the tents are harmless... I sleep in one every night!" Poseidon added, then "But... it's okay if you don't want to go! I will bring everything back if you don't want to go!" Nice save, Poseidon. Don't upset the beast. "You can look through these pretty shells and stones while I'm away." he pointed to his gathered treasures with his tail, of which he still wasn't sure which he wanted to keep or exchange.

Without waiting for confirmation, purr turned away from the wildcats, too terrified (or excited?) by their presence, and walked towards the tent where most his trinkets lay hidden.

"You certainly won't stifile my curiosity! Because I'm going to follow by y'all mistakes and not get stuck in one of the uhh- tents! Yeah, what uhgm-" She could hold her guise for all of a sentence until she found herself flustered, realising something. "I uh- Sorry, I never got your name?" She added sheepishly, following the stranger with a look of curiosity.

The twoleg scent was strong; she'd never been this close to twoleg stuff. It was super neat in her opinion, the funny long nests, the silver cylinders their prey was stored in, their weird pelts they adorned over their furless flesh. For a family stemming from kittypets, she had never gotten to see the kind of stuff up close.

"Sorry about my brother, he doesn't trust twolegs or new cats, he means well, I promise." She knew he didn't like her, not in the slightest, but there wasn't a reason for her to actively try and get new cats to hate him. She peered about the twoleg den, tent, was it? Looking to the kittypet with a curious glint. "I can help you carry out your trinkets so you don't gotta go back and forth." Thunderpaw was just excited to learn about kittypets; it wasn't too widely talked about by her clanmates, so it was fun to meet a kittypet, properly.
